Give Her A Little Time

We are seeing her block out senses more this summer. When she stops and squints her eyes, we know she is working through some stuff. She just needs a little time. If you ever see someone stalling a line, give some grace.
Our daughter is has not had a meltdown or sensory overload in 6 months. Whatever she is doing, whatever we are doing, it is working. Summer is commonly the toughest time of the year for her.

I love how the woman working at the carousel responded to Braylee's hesitation. She didn't rush her, didn't ask her to move, just said "That's ok" I also noticed another little girl on the carousel wearing headphones. Love to see that! The way that Braylee's two friends know exactly how to help her regulate is so amazing!

I love you guys so much. I'm from a large town north of Atlanta. Cartersville Georga is where I live. I want to thank you, ,commend you, but most of all applaud you for your love of Braylee. I'm now 71 years old. For 30 years I took care of my daughter Terri who was born with a severe form of spina-bifida. I loved her more than life itself. She loved life as does Braylee. I still miss her after 21 years of her passing.. Thank you for sharing your life with your daughter. It makes me smile.....❤❤❤

I used to go to Como Zoo a lot as a kid! The carousel used to be somewhere else (can't remember atm), and was set to be torn down and destroyed for something else to go in it's place. Como Zoo/Park saved it by giving it a place to go.

i love that the girls know she needs squeezes and braylee is completely calm and taking them in. this will be amazing when shes at school or out and about and they know what to do... to help their friend. so precious!

i love to see Braylee out doing things like that, seeing her enjoying herself. She does deserve to be included in whatever activities she enjoys. I love that she has friends who love her and want to spend time with her. This world needs to be far more patient, kind, and compassionate. Wouldn't that be wonderful... I'm sorry about your van, hope it doesn't totally spoil your vacation plans.

I believe when I was young we donated an armadillo to Como Zoo. When I grew up in St. Paul we went to como often.

Does Braylee enjoy musicals at all? The carousel reminded me of Mary Poppins and I wondered if it might be fun for her to watch 😊 I’m learning so much about Braylee and the kinds of sensory inputs that can affect her, over these last few vlogs. You’re really opening my eyes to all the different ways autism is experienced.
