The Grenadier Build modeller shows an increase in emissions of around 20g/km with addition of lockers, in a vehicle that it already (sadly) surprisingly high The fuel consumption (and range) and high emissions are the major downside of what looks like an amazing vehicle (if you ignore capital outlay, delays in availability, and service agents in my country)

@@hedydd2 Definitely operating costs and high emissions are important, especially in a vehicle where durability was a key design focus. We already pay an import duty on high emission vehicles, and are waiting for fuel prices to increase 25c/l next month to cover Kyoto commitments (with an expectation of further increases over the next few years). Total cost of ownership is important, but a couple of design decisions have made this both expensive to buy and expensive to operate (If I just needed a light duty road vehicle, I can buy something at half the cost of the Grenadier)

That sounds like a big increase from the target price? Is that due to inflation or mission creep? Defenders are going for stupid money in the UK, I like em, but they're hard to live with. JLR seem to have lost the plot, perhaps they've given up on this market segment because Japanese, Koreans et al already rule the roost? I think the Grenadier will be a good vehicle (I hope), but I'm worried that the hype and cost may end up in DMC territory?

By and large I agree (don't forget the CCP too!), unless the sheeple do owt about it. Not sure why you don't rate Ratcliffe, unless I'm missing something he seems like poor boy made good? JLR have lost the plot re new Defender etc and their build quality is dire (I love the look of their products but couldn't face owning one of the expensive ones even if I could afford it. We had S1, S2 and S3 back in the day and as a kid I rode in very early Range Rovers in 1970/71). Perhaps JLR gave up on the segment because the Japanese, Korean's et al started to make head way? I don't know why the felt tip fairies get their way so much these days. I've friends who are time served, design engineers, now CAD Jockies and they're telling me that new recruits are woke, brainwashed and don't know one end of a car, truck, bus, ship or aeroplane from another. This country has been eroded from outwith and within and is moribund, we need a sea change and fast!

@@musoseven8218 Jim Ratcliffe was pushing for Fracking, a dangerous eco-disaster waiting to happen. Thankfully the geology in the UK is not suitable, but he showed his true colours when he was steam rollering over local communities who didn't want it. I could go on. I had an early Range rover too. A 1981 two door 3.5 V8 which was OK fuel-wise on long journies but short ones were expensive. Great vehicle though and came with a starting handle too, which could take your arm off if you didn't know how to use one. I wasn't aware that new Defender build quality was poor. Most kids these days are 'woke' God help us. The only way we can get out of this mess (which was planned generations ago) is not to comply with any of their lies, propaganda and bs. Again, I could go on, but certainly not on KZfaq.

@@scaryfakevirus By and large I agree with all that you say. I'm not a fan of fracking etc, although, I need to study the pros and cons more. All modern JLR kit is risky Eg Evoque has a recall steering rack bolt issue (about £3.5k per car) and JLR won't acknowledge it as such (it's safety critical). And yes the erosion of the UK started at least at the end of WWII, and probably before in WWI, and things geared up in 2008 when we were conned back then too. There's also, for want of a better phrase, spiritual/pandimensional element to it all too. Many ancient prophecies seem to be coming true - even if that's only because the psychos in charge want it that way. So much more I could write too, but I'm wary and weary, I think that the hermetic life beckons or a trip to the grey havens 🤔😉💜✌️ PS I remember the RR's having starting handle holes in the bumper. My dad's friend had an early one, circa 1970/71 and our neighbour had the GTX cars, so I rode in those occasionally too. Happier times. No one remembers (and it was destroyed) at one point in the 1970s there was financial parity and everyone was doing okay relative to their situation, tptb couldn't tolerate justice, democracy and relative bliss though could they!

@@musoseven8218 No pros - all cons I'm afraid with fracking. Jim Ratcliffe wanted the cheap gas to power his plastics industry, not for us at all. He was just going to build community halls for the local plebs in return for the pollution of ground water and destruction of arable land, reduction of house prices and the heavy trucks churning up the country lanes etc . Also, for the cons just have a look at the gas wells in Australia (my cousin used to live nearby) and Pennsylvania in the US. It is horrendous to say the least! Gas bubbling up in rivers and streams and even through the ground. The current situation and what they want was written in the Bible too. Ability to buy or sell so long as you take the mark?
