Drummer is Hellhammer of Mayhem. Singer is ICSVortex of Dimmu Borgir and Borknagar. Guitarist is Knut Magne Valle, who came over after being a live performance guitarist from Ulver and has produced or engineered a butt load of albums including Mayhem’s award winning Ordo ad Chao and Ulver’s Themes on William Blake’s The Marriage of Heaven and Hell. I saw them live at Maryland Death Fest and they put on a fantastic show! They love their audience and we’re the first ones I saw that did a full on concert during Covid, with full light show and in full costumes. They genuinely love their audiences! Knut’s guitar was made by him btw.

Arcturus are awesome, some of the best vocalists in metal have led them. ICS Vortex here is one of the vocalists that you saw in 'Winter Thrice' a couple weeks ago from Borknagar and for years he was the bassist and clean singer for Dimmu Borgir,, the drummer is the legendary 'Hellhammer' from Mayhem ... Arcturus are essential.

Also worth noting that he's not the original singer of this band, this song, or Borknagar, that guy, in all those cases, is Garm (Krystopher Rygg). That Winter Thrice song is particularly cool because it has all 3 singers of the history of that band reuniting for it.

Yes, Garm is tremendous. It would be great to have some live footage of Arcturus with him, but alas he was a busy guy. There is some interesting live footage with Øyvind Hægeland 'the gunslinger' doing some live dates in Garm's place on their Sham Mirror's dates. Love his work with Spiral Architect. I was lucky enough to meet Garm at Ulver's 'Shadows of the Sun' cd release party in Booklyn, he was very interesting.@@Stand_By_For_Mind_Control

Thank you soooo much for these two Arcturus songs! You bring some joy (love your energy) into a very empty void of Arcturus reactions! That stunned me. Probably among the most underated/unknown acts of creative genius and musical beauty out there. This has to change! You guys are the perfect pair to show their jewel to the world! Please please pleaaaaasse do a session with the 3 last songs of Sideshow Symphonies, Moonshine Delirium through to the finale, Hufsa, probably the song and ending that gives me the most electric chills and thrills of all music I heard... and that is from a dude making sure he gets through mostly, if possible, only GREAT-to-Masterpiece level stuff, in the last few decades of exploration, on one side by passion of magnificent creativity, and on another by refinement of my search as a DJ and Musician/Audiophile. All the while, in the spirit of "There's too much beauty, and so little time", I, after decades of knowing Arcturus, found myself re-affirming the definite MOTHA OF ALL ASMR AND SPINE CHILLS that this band and album brings me. Closely followed by "Tool-gasms", of course ;) (Parabol>>>Parabola?!?!!!) although.. Arcturus takes the cake for not cooling down my mojo one bit in spite of knowing the piece by heart. Truly magical. Then if you please tackle their Arcturian album :) Also then, checkout some Leprous, if you like theatrical apogees of rare kinds like these. Hey, thanks for reading , whoever did . Arcturus with ex dimmu borgir Vortex and maybe best drummer in black metal scene mr Hellhammer Mayhem drummer. Super!

Biggest problem with hellhammer is he mostly is known for Mayhem, and the drums in Mayhem are dull as fuck. Then you hear his stuff in Arcturus on the rare occasions they do something and you realise he's incredibly talented and inventive. But I'd rate some of the newer dudes as more interesting to listen to. Especially the dude from (can) Panzerfaust, Darkside obviously (kriegsmaschine over mgła and given he plays that stuff during soundchecks it counts) and S Blackburn from Skáphe especially (underrated as fuck). Dude from Serpent Column is incredible too. Given I've mentioned Skáphe and serpent column, whoever drums for Deathspell Omega is incredible too.
