This man was so BIG, that in 1975 in Huntsville Alabama he SOLD OUT 5 SHOWS, VERY QUICKLY, I got to see him leave the 2:30 show and walked up to the car and he was sitting in the middle of the back seat, bodyguards on each side of him, had a big smile and those silver sun glasses, saw him for the last time in Dec.29,1976,Birmingham Alabama, when he came out from behind the curtain, the flash bulbs started going off and I mean it was unreal to see the whole place lit up with flash bulbs, NEVER will forget that!!! KING ELVIS.

Oh wow... This makes me sad. I was 18 when he died, 16th August 1977! A date embedded in my mind... I grew up with Elvis gospel in our home, and later all his other music. I live on the other side of the world, but when he died I cried and cried. Felt like I'd lost a family member 😢 such a beautiful man inside and out. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction. That would be just about it. One more show after this one, and the world would lose the greatest musician that ever lived. He was an Arranger of half a dozen different genres. His ability to bring Gospel and R&B together with Country and Rockabilly and Funk and Jazz and Opera was so unique. But he did more than that. His charisma and stage presence was off the charts and made the careers of Michael Jackson, Prince, Kiss, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Freddie Mercury and so many other legends. Music just doesn't look or sound like it does today without Elvis Presley.

Although he performed with an orchestra, there was some overdubbing on this song for the TV special ELVIS IN CONCERT, which aired after his death. The award he received in this video was for his song “Moody Blue,” and was given at the Indianapolis airport on the night of his last ever concert, which was in Indianapolis on June 26, 1977.

Elvis loved opera. When they aired this concert after his death, I was still in mourning where I came home from school everyday, changed clothes and sat on the floor in front of the stereo playing Elvis albums and crying. So when they aired the concert, I wanted to both look at Elvis and listen to his voice. But I couldn’t. Already crying, if I looked at the tv I cried harder and couldn’t hear him sing. So, lying on the sofa, I faced the back seat; only occasionally turning around to. Look at him. It was a time that when I think of it takes me back and I can actually feel transported to 1977.👑♥️

The part at @4:30, where the band comes in, wasn't part of the original live show. That and the big finale of the song were added as overdubs mainly because the filming was for a concert to be aired on TV in October of 1977. Unfortunately, Elvis died in August, 6 weeks after filming. If you watch the original concert recording, you can tell, without the added stuff, how good he really was, even in such a bad state of health.

This isn't the original live recording of Elvis singing "Unchained Melody." Rather, it's one that was overdubbed with back up singers & orchestra added later on. In the original performance, it's 'just' Elvis on the piano singing. The original is on You Tube. It begins with Elvis having his dad, Vernon Presley come up on stage as he introduces him; Elvis then introduces his girlfriend, Ginger Alden & tells her to 'stand up.' She does for a minute or so & receives loud and long applause. Elvis interrupts & then kiddingly says to Ginger 'that's enough for you, you can sit down now. He has Charlie Hodges come over to the piano, teases him a bit & then begins his performance. Elvis was very ill at this point in time & you can see how exhausted he is. Yet, he still gave his all to his fans. As Elvis said: "I can never repay my fans; if it weren't for them, I wouldn't have anything."

You guy's got to react to the song he always closed his show's with, the live version of "Can't Help Falling In Love" 1972, then you will understand why the phrase "Elvis has left The Building" came from, it was to calm the audience down especially the ladies, they would fight for his scarf's, fight with the security, only at an Elvis show you heard that phrase because of the thrill and excitement that he brought to the stage, check it out.
