Surprise 2!!!!
Viewport fixed.
TheXTech is Wohlstand’s reimplementation of SMBX in C++ with SDL2. I was able to get the game to compile and “run” with SDL2. But, it wasnt very good at all.
Today I started implementing the PS Vita renderer based on vitaGL and I finally started getting some sensible input! I was having a lot of trouble converting from pixel sprite source rects to texture coordinates, but I finally got it!

Great stuff. Looking forward to future updates. Have played SMBX years ago with a friend, and it's just a great 2D Mario experience :)

Nice work so far! In terms of the loading issues, maybe you could make it so that it only loads images once they're needed, and then clear out most of the loaded images during the level load? That may cause some brief lag spikes, but most levels would rarely introduce large new images anyway. (Also, the reason why it lags a lot when scrolling back is probably because the spawning mechanics are weird and a lot more NPC's are active than usual because of that)

The game already does some lazy loading, but I think my implementation needs some work. There is pthread for the Vita too, that may also speed up the loading. In addition, I plan to have the vita use half sized assets so that should speed up loading too. In fact you’ll notice right now I’m not rendering backgrounds, I ran out of vram oops.

I actually stopped using Twitter over a year ago and try to keep all of my updates on KZfaq. As you can see, I routinely post updates on this channel for a couple of different projects.

This is still early days for this port, I have a lot to do but the foundation is now there for me to continue working on it. I also have some friendly competition on the 3DS side, I need to make sure my port is just as good as ds-sloth's! So expect work to continue. I also want to improve my experience with the Vita so I can target original games for it.

Heyo what happens when entering the battle game? Does it work when you indtall it on a psvitatv and then connect 2 controllers?

No, to emulate the device needs to be magnitudes more powerful than the device it wants to emulate and the Vita is not powerful enough to emulate the DS
