Dogs do seem to always survive... unless the movie is specifically a horror movie or a movie about a dog. Then they die slightly more than 50% of the time.

A bit off subject but reminds me, the "does the dog die" website is actually really good ! It's not just about dogs ! They also check for common phobias and triggers so if you have, let's say, a fear of clowns you can go on the website to see if the movie you're gonna see has a clown in it. If you saw a movie with clowns in it and it's not on the site, you can add it for other people ! I have a very specific anxiety trigger so I use the site a lot, it's really useful.

That's actually really nice. A lot of phobias, anxiety triggers, and emotional triggers can really ruin the experience for people sometimes. I can't stand slugs/snails and deep sea invertebrates, they gross me out. A lot of deep-sea creatures and marine life cause me unease in fact, to the point I can't stand to even dip my feet into wild water (Lakes, streams, ponds, etc.) due to the fear I have of things "living" in the water. I can definitely understand the sight of particular things causing a significant response, especially for people who don't react well to the sight of blood or viscera (Many Action and Horror movies are getting incredibly detailed with their depictions of gore, dismemberment, disembowelment, etc.) or particular subjects.

@Yarcov Notabotnick Fish and shellfish are fine once they're dragged out of their element and filleted/shelled or otherwise ready to cook. I'm talking about wild sea life that is either venomous, squishy, has venomous ribbons coming off of it (Jellyfish), etc. And of course any phobia by definition is irrational, still doesn't help me contend with my phobia knowing that it's completely irrational.

But then it turns out Hooch had impregnated the girlfriend's dog and one of the puppies looks and acts like Hooch in the final scene ("This is not your room!" Haha,) so it's not too sad. you mentioned that the door man of the night club recognizes John and decides to leave he says that he's lost sixty pounds which converted to kilograms 27.2155 or 28 kilograms if you round up. Interestingly enough John kills 28 people at the red circle. (in the movie he says 20 kilograms but the subtitles say 60 pounds). Idk if that was news to anyone I just thought it was interesting when someone pointed it out to me.

I cannot imagine John Wick without the dog death. They steal his car, doesn't kill the dog, its like okay get a new car, not justified enough (with the dog existing or not). If his wife was alive and they killed her, its cliche. But this way, its the last ounce of love his wife left him and it was snuffed out as quickly as it came. Its a true gut punch that sets off the character and the audience is with him
