I listen to a lot of people.love scary stories..Ive heard this story from somewhere else,dont remember who,or dont know who made it first..This is crazy hearing the same stories from 2 different people.Its pretty easy to reconize a story that youve already heard,,

There has been satellite wifi providers in Antarctica for a long time due to all the research bases there. Several countries have stations there and they use a variety of satellite connections such as NASA, Marisat (shut down a few years ago), USAP, Starlink, GOES, Oneweb etc. So it's not isolated just a really hard place to work, you get the samples, set up your data sets and go home.
