Sens 2022-2023 (pre-deadline) - Alex Debrincat Sens 2023-2024 - Kubalik - Tarasenko - Korpisalo - Chychrun - One year of growth for all the youngins It isn't the fact that Tarasenko is the end-all for the Sens, but rather the totality of all the additions that make us excited for next season. ADC was a great player, but we have a lot more depth now at all positions.

I'm a lifelong Blues fan, and Tarasenko is still my favorite Blues player even though he is gone and is not likely to ever come back. The guy competes much harder than he is given credit for and when he is healthy there are few better scorers in the league. Just two years ago he set his career highs for assists and points and had another 30 goal season. Last year the Blues sucked, he had some nagging injuries, and then never found a line combo that he fit great with in NY -- he still managed 50 points and 30+ assists and was one of the only guys for NY who looked alive throughout that series against NJ. Ottawa isn't likely getting a 40 goal scorer or a guy who will compete for a Hart. But they're getting a competitor who's gotten a Cup, is a proven clutch postseason player, and if healthy in the regular season is basically a lock for 30 goals and 65-80 points. If all goes according to plan, his numbers will be right where they've always been, and I would not be surprised to see Ottawa make the playoffs. Tarasenko has seemingly been derided by Blues fans and even fans of other teams for never becoming the second Brett Hull. If he'd never gotten injured to begin with, I'm sure people would be talking about his career differently. Even with the injuries, he's managed to remain a productive player. I'll be rooting for Ottawa this year.

I’m not going to pretend Tarasenko is in his prime, but as a Sens fan I can confidently say that I’d rather Tarasenko and Kubalik over Debrincat, despite the Cat being the best of those 3 players. Depth scoring was a huge issue last year and this signing helps a ton. Add a healthy Norris and the top 9 looks pretty damn good.

Blue guy here. Ottawa, you got an awesome player with a high level of compete and one of the best wrist shots. Importantly, he is a clutch playoff performer.

Most Sens fans are expecting between 20 and 30 goals from Tarasenko. Kubalik scored 20 last year, and at a third of the Cat's contract he only scored 7 less goals. I'd rather have Kubalik and Tarasenko then the Cat. Also, let's see if the Cat can do 40Gs without Kane. I wish him all the best and hold nothing against him for wanting to go home (he owed Ottawa nothing), but I'm really interested to see his production this coming season. Cheers

As a blues fan, he’s still got what it takes, and he’s a 200 foot player, more so than debrincat but if we compare those two we’re talking about experience not skill because they are both clearly very skilled

it is wild how one camp is like "oh debrincats a 40 goal scorer cause he last did it in 2021" and those same people are like "oh tarasenko is trash even though he had 34 goals and 80 pts in 2021" people are forgetting this isnt debrincat for tarasenko, this is debrincat for tarasenko and kubalik. kubalik on the third line? a 15-20 goal scorer who is big and finishes his checks? hes perfect for the 3rd line. and tarasenko brings more experience to a young team. plus a full season of josh norris back. debrincat is not scoring 40 goals on that weak detroit team. at best he will do 35. norris, tarasenko and kubalik together will have more goals than debrincat which means we filled the hole. sens arent asking tarasenko to score 30. we have stuts, tkachuk, norris, and batherson who are all 30 goal scorers. tarasenkos job is to be the skilled vet and create open ice for the young guys.

Tarasenko has almost eternally been underrated. Dude consistently put up steong seasons with the Blues, won a Cup with them, and seemed to always take a backseat to one player or another. Give this man his proper respect.

I think most sens fans are happy because it brings depth/balance to the lines. Ottawa now has 8 of their top 9 forwards that are basically guaranteed 20 or more goals. Health and coaching are the only things to worry about now

I'm in Ottawa and in my circle and where I've read online, I don't think it's accurate to suggest that Sens fans are thinking we're going to be the best team in the Atlantic. Everyone I've talked to has suggested 20 to 25 goals is sorta what they're expecting for Tara at this point. I also haven't heard non-Sens fans trash Tara either. I think you might be looking at pretty extreme ends of the discussion maybe ;) The overall Ottawa sentiment is that we HOPE we can make the playoffs.

Debrincat and Tarasenko have similar production.... but Tarasenko is 31,had injury issues not too long ago and is signed for 1 year. I Wouldn't plan the parade just yet.

Fans can usually be counted on to mispresent most things. He's potentially a great pick up, especially in light of losing DeBrincat which if unanswered would suggest a white flag.

I havent followed this so much. I'm surprised to hear this. Tarasenko for 5m is an obvious steal. Dude played 1st and 2nd line as a top scorer on a stanley cup team...

I see Tarasenko scoring 15-20 goals and Kubalik scoring around 15. It also won't hurt that 35 goal scorer Norris is back Overall, the Sens' scoring should be better spread out than before. Some scoring will be had from the 3rd line whereas before it was almost non-existent. Besides Kubalik perhaps Greig and/or Sokolov will add some punch? (I see Sokolov and Pinto being re-signed at the expense of Joseph, who will be shipped out). Financially, it helps that Tarasenko and Kubalik will be making less than ADB for the year. Final thought: I can see Ottawa, Buffalo and Detroit fighting for just 1 playoff spot, but the battle between them being quite intriguing.

Guarantee you no sens fan thinks we got prime Tarasenko. What we think is Tkachuk, Stutzle, Norris, etc made Giroux score the most goals of his career at 35 years old. Anything is possible buddy. 🤷‍♂

I have moderate expectations for his scoring, but I like his skating and playmaking, from the very little I've seen. I like his fit.

Sens fans know that he just filled a hole in the line up that makes the team better. If teresenko can get 25 goals, that’s 25 more goals than the Joseph goals that he pushed out if the line up. He going to be a second and third line winger. That make the Sens three lines very competitive.

I think anyone with any objectivity should understand that the wild card is up for grabs by ottawa, buffalo and detroit next season. While ottawa and buffalo have some offensive weapons detroit didnt just add debrincat, they added debrincat, sprong (another 20 goal guy) compher whos not going to wow anyone but is a 15-20 goal guy and they added a 40+ point defensemen in gostisbehere and likely simon edvinson who is offensively mor talented than mo seider and just as good a defender. Its most likely going to come down to the last few weeks of the season with thos 3 teams again.

Not that I’m expecting this, and I will seriously laugh hard if it does happen; but what if Tarasenko does develop chemistry with Stutz or Norris and scores like 40 and gets 80+ points? What kind of contract would he be looking for next year? 8yrs @8.5 mill? It would be absolutely crazy to pay that for an aging winger, even if the cap goes up!

I think it's better than "a good move". It's 1 year, only $5,M for a proven veteran goal scorer. He may not quite match what Debrincat put up last year but hell likely be very close. Plus the Sens should hopefully have a health Norris this year. I think it's a great signing by the Sens.

No one in Ottawa thinks he is 2016 Tarasenko, but on the Senators this upcoming season, he doesn't have to be. Him and Kubalik need to produce more than DeBrincat did last year, and help the Sens on 5 on 5 and PP. Tarasenko still has an elite shot and both him and Kubalik can wire it. That's it. That's all Ottawa fans expect. The Sens should have a healthy Norris this season, so that alone makes up for DeBrincat. Tarasenko and Kubalik are just gravy. The PP will be lethal and the Sens are full of players who can score a myriad of ways - Tkachuk, Batherson, Norris, Stutzle, Giroux, Tarasenko and Kubalik all score and generate scoring chances in different ways. They will create matchup nightmares all seasons for opponents in ways that last year's team with DeBrincat and without Norris could not. Health will be a challenge but this team is scary. It doesn't have to be Tarasenk- show. Just Tara-part-of- the-show

As a sabres fan, that guy was delusional. Victor ollofson is like the venus de mayo in the D zone. Hes going to get traded for a bag of pucks because its better to have a defensive forward than the 20 something goals he added. I would absolutely take tarasenko over him.

Age and injury catches up to players. He's not gonna be prime Tarasenko dishing out 30-40 goals a season consistently, especially after that shoulder injury he had 2019. However, this guy is by no means a bust either! Ottawa got a very good player for a good price who can generate a ton of offence. I just don't think he's the game-breaker that he used to be.

It's not an epic signing but by no means is it a terrible one either. On that Ottawa top 6, he's gonna score 20+ goals, guaranteed and he's not bad at making plays either. Ottawa is still Canada's best bet at a Cup in the near future, followed by Montreal. Rest of the Canadian teams, not a chance mate, not a chance.

Senko and Kubalik combined will give us more goals than DeBrincat I'd say confidently I'd expect 20 goals from Kubalik and around 30 goals for Tarasenko and those 2 cost less than DeBrincat would along with Norris back and healthy Sens are gaining goals but are definitely still not a top 5 team in the East

Red Wings fan here. I do not think it was a bad pickup at all. I don't think he is going to make the big plays that Ottawa is expecting, but neither did Debrincat. I think the one year deal is a fair trial run and if he works out, then awesome for Sens fans. If not, it was a one year deal so who cares? It has been fun seeing Detroit and Ottawa constantly be compared and it almost feels like a race to the post season between the two.

As a Sens fan I'm happy just to have debrincat gone. I hope this guy sticks around longer. Atleast we didn't have to give up a 1st rounder for him.
