Good for you! Once the dog is on your property, you can do what you want to protect your livestock!

I know it is meat on the hoof and money, that aside you did a great job with that cow especially a nursing mother. She was really calm, animals going down is always a lot of work but well worth the effort when you get those results. I'm a dog/cat person but that lose dog issue needs to be solved permanently.

You're a lot nicer than I would have been with that dog.

Was thinking Johnny about the cow !!! If you can rub that bad leg that is what we did for 1 of our Cows in the barn !!! Like you it did take time !!! We tried the ropes then the thing by the hips !!! If she ain't walking in about a month then it is freezer camp for her !!! Calf will go on as before !!!

We have trouble keeping our livestock dogs on our property. Although I know they won't mess with someone's livestock I'm afraid others will think that. We were about to spend several hundred on geo collars but then life things come up.

Do what you have to do to protect your animals if people don't want to keep their dogs at home that is on them

I tell folks who dont mind their dogs roaming all over and making trouble that I will take care of their dog(in a different way) if they dont !

My dogs go out at night but little different than a town dog out running. A good ranch dog should go out at night but with you working during the day

I would consider building a temporary protection shed around her so you & she both had peace , even if it were just with spare lumber.

You need to get a couple of donkeys to take care of those dogs.

Chances are if their dogs are running loose they dont care about whether they come home or not.

need some donkeys or mules in with the cattle they will take care of those dogs for sure

Call around and see who it belongs to. Maybe then, they can keep it at home. If they don’t know… they can’t do anything about it.

if people dont watch their dogs...they shouldnt have them! i never let any of my dogs outside unless i was there watching ... its not just to make sure they dont take off ... its so i can make sure nothing attacks them !!! when my dog wakes me up at 3am to pee ... im out in the dark outside with her .. i never use a leash and she wont go more than about 20ft from me and wont go near the road but i dont let her out of my sight! i know theres ppl who leave dogs outside all day and night but i never understood why they dont have full fencing before they get dogs!

Nope buddy you need to take care of that now. I see them getting after my cows they meet their maker. You hate to do it but my livelyhood is more important than your dog.

That stinks maybe you should get a couple of Guard dogs for the cows 🐄 maybe it's to late but heh
