The fact we're still excited about MvC2 this many years later proves just how amazing this game is and will be for the foreseeable future.

I was into modding MVC2 ALOT back in the day. I did a few things - I removed the air dash counter, so you can just air dash over and over in the air. Like the ROM infinite from Magneto in mid air lol. I removed Cable's gun shot counter, so instead of 3, you could do 30. My favorite one though...I found a place in memory where you could change what move came out when you called an assist. So instead of just the 3 different moves, you could have your assist character come out and do virtually any of their moves. They still taunted after and everything. The best part of it though was it was dynamic. That means you come in with sent, do his upwards rocket punch, tag him out, and every assist call to Sent would be an upwards rocket punch after that. It lets you CHOOSE which of your moves to use for your assist character in real time. I'm assuming that was something put in by the developers as a way to test different moves for assists in the middle of the game. But it would seem they left it in ;) Another one I was messing with was changing moves to have a longer "stay on your back" flag. So technically you could change enough where ALL moves deadbody, and you stay on the ground on your back for as long as I want you to. So like...marvel 3 level OTG setups and such. Same as when the match is over and you're beating up on their corpse lol I wanted to make MVC2 "Combo Edition" for years, but life started getting in the way and it became more and more of a "whenever I can" project that's basically stagnant. Now that i see people are doing stuff with it and it's popped back up into the main stream, I'd love to help. If somebody knows who made this edit and how I can contact them, I can give them all of my work so they can drop it in their version.

They obviously would need to buff all the low-tier and mid-tier characters, not just M. Bison, since we all know Sentinel, Storm, Magneto are too OP! That means my Wolverine (steel claw) is going to be much better to play in this modded MVC2 version 🥰

Always loved M. Bison (Vega - owned the Japanese Saturn version) on Marvel vs Street Fighter. I was very disappointed when I felt he got weakened in Marvel vs Capcom 2. Glad to see him get his glory again in this mod.

What they need to do is to include the 4 character they forgot to include. Mephisto, US agent, Anita, Lilith If you look at the roster the idea was to include everyone from mvc series, including msh and xcota as mvc series. Anita from darkstalkers is at MSH Lilith form darkstalkers is at MVC Assuming war machine and iron man are different characters (they added war machine at mvc because the lack of iron man license at the time): Mephisto from MVSF US Agent from MVSF

I would absolutely love if he did a 0 to death series going over the new changes in the mod. That would be so dope.

The fact that this game (and the others in the series) still gets people excited is a big reason why they need to do whatever it takes to make a collection on PS5, Steam, Switch, Xbox, etc a thing.

I love that the answer when modding Marvel 2 seems to be to bring everyone else closer to Magneto/Sentinel/Storm tier. It’s the only correct path. Nerfing those three would just make it less MVC2.

I love how UMVC3 is getting all kinds of cool stuff and MVC2 is getting some (new) mods, but no one cares about MVCI 😅

They should add all the characters from earlier Marvel games, like children of the atom and such, along with all the SF Alpha characters, the sprites and animations are in the same style so they would fit in nicely.

I've always wondered about a modded or 're-balanced' version of MvC2, kind of like 'New Legacy' for Super Turbo. Glad to see someone is finally making it happen. I just it gets a chance to shine. New Legacy is still relatively obscure.

Fun fact: Skullgirls had modeled its infinite protection on MvC2 so lights would add more and heavies less (mediums and specials somewhere in the middle, supers add nothing). But that was much worse for Skullgirls (as it was MUCH easier to chain heavies together at the beginning of combos for much better damage scaling), so it was reversed.

If they would have given dictator an 8-way air dash in the vanilla game, a capcom character would have been top tier for once.

Sentinel should have its super armor and normals doing block damage removed. No reason why Colossus doesn't have super armor but Sentinel does. In the comics Colossus would crush a sentinel easily.

To think how CRAZY it would be to add and make the roster more huge like UMVC3 Pretty much all the MvCX mugen characters all added to MVC2 with the fast paced 3v3 gameplay

Yeah it needs 6 button HML Punch and Kicks, Morrigan needs Eternal Slumber Back, same with Chun-Li's Shichisei Senkuu Kyaku. Secret characters from MVC1 need to be put back in as well, such as Shadow Lady, Red Venom, Orange Hulk, Gold War Machine, Roll. Zangief's Double Atomic Buster needs to be put in

So this video of the modded MVC2 alters the properties of what the fighter has, and M.Bison is just the start but NOT considered complete after it's been applied. So can it also adjusted the hitbox and hurtbox of those fighters' properties just to make them comboable? And what about the amount of damage applied on special moves, Hyper Combos, command moves and even normal attacks that can be chained into whatever you think of it possible?

If somebody mods Jubilee into mvc as playable (1, 2 or 3) I'm getting it. This Bison mod is crazy

Maybe the hidden variants from previous games (Armored Spider-Man, Orange (Red) Hulk, Shadow Lady, etc.) can be added to the roster?

The game should include 3 punches and 3 kicks, and air combos should be easy like the old Marvel games. If you're going to make a mod, don't forget these!

I've always said that an updated MvC2.2 and a new entry in the SF3 series would be easy money for Capcom, and the FGC would go nuts for them.

I still, somewhere, have a burned modded mvc2 disc, the one with the Missy Elliot song on the character select lol. It always eventually soft locks though, its all good, thought that counts hehe

Now if somebody could just implement the mod to model 3 where everybody gets the heroes in Herold's card that allows everyone to airdash/double jump then that would be nice They can implement a whole new meta to the game. So now you don't have to be reliant on Magneto all day since everybody in the game can Air dash. Not an eight-way airdash but it still changes how the game is played. This is what made tatanoko versus Capcom. So fun!

Bison is so sick, so good, so fun but he still gets absolutely bodied for free everytime by Sentinel.

This is definitely going to bring Marvel 2 back into competitive.

Ive always thought it would be cool to get a rebalance of Marvel 2. Something to push up some of the really cool low-tiers towards viability. Ive always thought it would be sick if modern releases (if we were lucky enough for them to exist) would have a mode that received semi regular updates like a modern game, in addition to the original.

It would be cool if they modded it so every character was viable. I would love it if they wrecked the meta

I've had mixed emotions thinking about when the day would come where the code would be cracked for the game mechanics & attributes. This could put more life into the game & its community long term, or it could go warp into a complete black hole that will just destroy a lot of things around it. Or at the very least hugely dilute the original MvC2 formula in spirit: devolve more into MUGEN rather than a "true" MvC2 successor. These past months-at-a-time hiatuses for the past couple of years, I keep contemplating whether to give life to all of my MvC2 video & community projects I've been wanting to do for 10 years or so, or just letting go and never look back and focus on other creative endeavors. BUT I see they cracked the code. I see at a clear urgent sign. But I don't know if this is a sign that this is the beginning of the end and for me to let go, or if it's the complete opposite sign that I need to jump on board and start my MvC2 projects journey before things devolve really bad.
