Despite being from the US, I totally agree that the AM / PM system is ridiculous. Not only do we use the same number for times twice a day, we switch between AM and PM and start a new day on the *last* number rather than the first! Our default way of specifying dates is goofy as well. Both smallest unit to biggest and biggest unit to smallest make sense, but we go middle - smallest - biggest instead. Handling dates in code is painful enough without this... Sadly, dealing with time is so much of a headache that it's very hard to convince people to change how they do it.

Something I think would need explaining in an scp tie in is how exactly the observer can fix anomalies so quickly by reporting them, and how unreported anomalies would kill you. I think the location itself being an scp would make the most sense, and it somehow altering the observer to make them anomalous too. Then it's not that the observer reports an anomaly and someone else goes in and fixes it, but rather it's the awareness that something changed that fixes it. Like the location itself is trying to gaslight you and make you go crazy, and if you go crazy enough you eventually suffer increasingly severe seizures until you just die.

The only scp that I can think of to make an observation duty game about is scp-895 the coffin that causes anomalous video and photo activity when within certain range of it with said video equipment you could play as a researcher to see what anomalies it produces and report them while also having a stress meter to maintain due to it usually killing through immense stress and anxiety

SCP observation duty? Easy. You're immune to cognitohazards, so you're the guy that has to edit them out of footage so everyone else doesn't die when they look at it.

Vita Carnis, SCP, The Mandela Catalog, the back rooms all resonate with the same energy and could in theory exist in the same universe as observation duty-based games.

Best scp for an observation duty game is 895, the camera disruption. Causes hallucinations to people observing through cameras and screens and stuff.

I would actually write the Observer as the SCP, but make it SCP #B SCP#A is the SCP that causes environmental changes and quirks. SCP#B must be kept in containment at all times in order to monitor SCP #A which by its nature is fundementally uncontainable. It would appear to have a preference for houses that are vacant. If SCP #B fails to notice an anomaly before family returns, it could have dire consequences for them. SCP #B is capable only of reincarnation into a fully-formed adult, moreso "posession." and seems to appear no matter how many times it dies, thus making the best containment procedure supporting its survival. Potential issues could be SCP#A evolving to more complex structures and/or relocating to a containment centre, which is why research into how to contain SCP #A is of utmost importantance. SCP #B would be treated like SCP-507 where he is more of an extension of the foundation, a non-consentual employee than D personnel or such. Most of his containment procedures would be aimed towards giving him everything he needs so he can spend as much time recognizing and fixing anomalies in SCP #A as possible. There is an implication he will not receive such treatment if SCP #A was properly contained, as it would make his anomalous properties obselete in terms of usage to the foundation, and he is technically a bodystealer.

That process of "everything here is the same but I don't remember it" is called jamis vu. It's the opposite of deja vu, "something new seems to be familiar enough you remember it"

I love the idea of the observer being the SCP. Whenever they view a camera feed, anomalies happen where ever they are observing, and will remain until the observer notices them. The observer is human appearing and otherwise unremarkable.

Hey, game dev, if you're also looking through these comments, about that insane mode, how about making it so sometimes anomalies CAN be invisible, but you need to hover over them with the mouse for them to appear. I understand if this idea is too far-fetched or technologically impossible.

What I found funny was that you talked about some SCP type of observation duty game and calling it SCP observer and few months later to see the release of SCP observer on steam at December few months later

The "effect" insym describes about "quesitoning yourself upon the variation of something once you put your attention on it" is indeed already a very well documented cognitive bias, it is part of availability heuristics bias, or availability bias, which are the biases born from how long to short term memory is managed by the brain, and more over, could be considered a compound or derivate of frequency illusion, attentional and salience biases. Be noted, biases arent inherently isolable, we kinda just refer to their consequences to classify them, which is why biases contain biases, and "derivate" into biases, because they may seem to be related to the same causes and processes in diferent levels.

On the topic of the toilet paper thing... I was once a toilet paper crumpler myself, I tried folding at some point and quickly realized it's way better. I would 100% recommend trying it for any toilet paper crumplers out there. You effectively double your ply with the same amount of paper usage, and it cleans up way better way easier.

On the subject of 12;00, the instant that it changes from 11;59 to 12;00 is noon, which is the meridian. That makes the rest of that minute PM (post-meridian). The reverse is true at midnight. It also lends itself to the time-waster "nine o'clock" "AM or PM?". All of this headache is solved by using 24-hour time. On top of that, just about nobody formats their dates properly. Both MM-DD-YYYY and DD-MM-YYYY are complete garbage, because you have low-value columns to the left of high-value columns. The proper format is YYYY-MM-DD. Big columns to small columns, like numbers do. Makes sorting by date as easy as alphabetizing, too, and you can extend it easily to the right to include time or the left to include years with five or more digits: ...YYYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss.ddddddd...

14:45 If your ears are in good working order, that really shouldn't be necessary. The motion of the jaw when you eat serves to slowly move wax outward, and the water when you shower helps wash it away. You only need ear cleaning if your ears aren't clearing themselves like that.

Hey Insym there is already a observation like game with scp it even called SCP observer. You can see it as a mix between fnaf and scp

15:35 random but this might help someone lol what I use is those blackhead/pimple poppers, they have a little loop so instead of shoving the earwax back it grabs it though you have to be careful as to not put the thing too far back in your ear cause that’ll hurt and probably not good for you, also I use hydrogen peroxide to clean my ears just lay on your side and pour an earful into your ear and wait a few minutes then lean over to let it pour out.

If he would do an insane mode, it could be quite easy to make it stressful but fair. Just let the game check if 2 anomaly are present, if not, force 2 and let a Randome timer between 30 seconds to 1 min or something, if 1 is found spawn a new one so 2 are there at all times (or 1 if it's to hard)
