When my husband and i lived in Coal Hill, ARKANSAS. Our date nights consistented of sitting in our truck in a field watching fireflies. He has been gone for 16 years, and it's been over 35 years since we lived in ARKANSAS. I still think of him and smile about our date nights in a field of frieflies.

Hello Gary and Mel. Mel you are correct. The historic 2024 emergence involves two broods of cicadas - Brood XIII and Brood XIX - emerging simultaneously. These two broods of 13-year and 17-year cicadas haven't emerged together in more than 220 years

Hi guys!! I grew up here in Pa catching lightning bugs during the summer months. We would put them in a jar or plastic container with air holes in the lid and put them in our bedroom at night and watch them flicker. Sorry about losing the turkeys but I hope you try it again. I think it’s cool watching them saunter around lol. Have a great day and stay safe!! 💜

I'll bet Liz & Micah's boys will have a blast at your kid friendly yard. You will have to get video of them seeing the tree house and the mad dash to climb it. I'm sure Julia will keep an eagle eye out for the small ones. Hope you have a smooth productive day.

You re doing an excellent job. I’ve been on this journey with you since you moved to 41.36, in Arkansas. You caught my attention in a massive way. Your first garden, every animal both in the beginning to now and each addition, your bunnies, baby turkeys, etc. Mel, I’m happy that you wasn’t hurt too badly when you fell the other week, you and Gary need to be careful🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ By the way, I love all of your fishing spots, and such beautiful lakes…until later🤓🤓🤓

I was 62 yrs old before i saw my first firefly....Had just retired, bought a motorhome , and was taking my retirement vacation from the west coast to NOLA with a stop in Memphis so i could go to Beale St and experience the blues at BB Kings...While in Memphis we stayed at T.O. Fulller State Park....Sitting on a picnic bench at dusk and there it was !!! I was like a kid in a candy store...My wife was laughing her ass off at me...Then i looked around and they were everywhere...TO kewl...To this day that is my only firefly experience....

The flea market near me usually has people selling chickens and turkeys. But lately they haven't been able to sell them there because there have been so many sick birds in the area.Syd from 3MS didn't do all her chickens at once . She picked the biggest ones first so that the smaller ones had room to grow. There's going to be a lot of chicken at Freedom Weekend.

SLR, Here in Maine, there are less and less available Turkey Poultes due to a " Bird Flu" getting into flocks. My neighbor lost two yr laying hens, twelve of them, in a two week period. He is starting over with less chicks( 10) and doing some home-made feed. He thinks that the feed was the source, so he is trying a this approach. His chicks will get 30%cracked,30% wheat,20%peas,10%oats,10%fish meal. He also mixes into the feed grit, as opposed to a seperate bowl in their run.

I would be weary of buying animals from auctions. Oftentimes they will sell their sick or problem animals there. If you get anything from an auction, make sure you quarantine them for a while to keep an eye on them and that they don't get other animals sick, if they do have a sickness.

Turkeys can get blackhead which is usually fatal. Chickens are usually immune to this deceased but can pass it to Turkeys.young turkeys are most effected because there feet are soft and that's usually the way the get black head. This might be what happened. Raise young turkeys off the ground on wire until there feet harden. Love your channel! Alice

Seems like everyone has trouble with turkeys. I have gout Mel, it sucks. I make a weird salad of shredded cabbage, arugula & radishes, it's a cleansing salad and helps. Also, good for it is red grapes. The best is a couple days rest. Just tell the "youtube critics" to chill and put your feet up every once in awhile. Take care.

Gary what kind of turkey were you raising the white double breasted turkeys are the best raised. I never had any problems raising my turkeys, but you want to keep the turkeys away from the chickens because chickens can be brutal. They killed my female and yeah, you need to make their own pan the bronze turkeys are mean and aggressive, as to the white ones are me or but I never had any problems with my turkeys. I know that my neighbor Tommy was raising bronze and he lost a lot of his turkeys so I’m hoping you didn’t get the bronze. Please try to get the white ones there a lot better turkey I raise them for meat 🍖 they build their own pen don’t put them in the same pen with chicken . Bc chicken love meat as well . Now goats 🐐 I enjoy goats so please 🙏 get a book specially a Nubian male pisses in their mouth. It’s like brute or a Chanel number five to the females and it will make all your properties stink bad they have to have a pen alone far away cause they smell to bad . have baby I enjoyed Bonnie Bon she wasn’t bad and she was a milking goat, but she wasn’t a Nubian she was a great goat. I miss her a lot except she like going into the chicken coop and got herself locked in. I had to rescue her very curious animals, but they’re better than dogs. My stepfather had a goat Percy and a there like dogs in the house until he got too big anyway be careful with the goats. They have to have a pin of their own pellets are fine, but you should give them Tennessee grass, especially when they get pregnant. They’re just so cute. I love baby kids. I have fed all three Bonnie had triplets and I enjoyed feeding them out of the bottle. We had it separate mom and two daughters and a male. I can’t remember what they’re called but they’re not new and Nubians are stubborn and bullheaded but I hope you have fun with your new baby goat just don’t, take it to a different goat farm and pay the price to have them get pregnant because it’s not worth having the mail. It stinks. I don’t know how David does it but I wouldn’t keep my mail in there anyway have a good life. You’re doing really good. Just get that house finished, and then you can take all the time you want. Later guys Blessing. ❤
