Supreme Boi was an in-house producer for Big Hit (their company/label). He actually had originally been a trainee to become a member of BTS, but later chose to just become a producer instead. 😉

Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but the "bae" in Cypher 4 is actually short for "sunbae" - which is a Korean term for someone older or ahead of you in school or career. ie. if you're a freshman in college, you'd call a junior/senior your sunbae. Or like BTS, if you're just starting off, you'd call all the other rappers/idols ahead of you "sunbae." They're saying sorry to all their sunbaes for not fitting the typical idol/rapper cookie cutter mold. For their group's name (they've been made fun of for the name Bulletproof Boyscouts). For their face (being told not pretty enough to be idols). For having poor pronunciation or diction or for breathing or for being themselves. It's very much like "sorry about it but I don't care. I love myself."

Cypher pt 1 was released in 2013 and pt 2 and 3 were released in 2014. Around that time a lot of underground rappers bashed rm and suga cause they left the underground rap scene to become idols. They performed cypher pt 3 for the last time ever at the busan concert in 2022, it was amazing, I recommend you check it out if you want🙏

they arent the only rappers in kpop but they are a few of the rappers who are actually real rappers. They came from underground rap, competing with others and working hard to get in their position. Alot of idol groups have "rappers" but alot of them dont even write their own lyrics nor know about the history of hip-hop.

If there is no video then use colour coded lyrics, especially when you get into group and vocal tracks. The person singing will light up making it easier for you. Just remember you are watching content over 10 years so what they sang and rapped about 9/10 years ago isn't necessarily what they think or feel now. Now looking forward to you hearing Ugh and Ddaeng. Please watch the DKDKTV explanation videos for both of those songs when you do, because there is a lot of cultural references and wordplay that is missed if you don't speak Korean.

Just an advice, I think colour coded lyrics would help you greatly with who's singin/rapping. Especially because it still is easy to guess who it is with the cyphers, as they all have distinct verses ad once you know the order it works. But with other songs and especially with the 7 members it will become tricky as they go back and forth with each line sometimes. So colour coded lyrics are videos that, like the name says, have pictures and names of each of the member in the song with one colour for each and the lyrics change colour and highlight the member singing, it would help you a lot until you're able to recognize each voice wich takes times ^^ BUT like with everything, there is good and bad colour coded lyrics videos, so there is a few channels to avoid as they don't really care about the quality of their work and just want to be the fastest to post to gain views. ("Lemoring", "Jaeguchi" are some of the worst, avoid them at all costs) One great channel for what I've seen is "af-taehyung", they always wait to be sure to have the best translations, and I don't think I've seen any mistakes about who's singing. They also highlight who's singing ad-libs or harmonies so it's pretty great. BTS are kind of a stand out in kpop anyway because it’s not common for the artists to be so involved in writing & producing their own music. Especially in terms of subjects & lyrics, the topics they sing about are uncommon (metal health seems to be somewhat of a stigma in SK) and have garnered negative attention from a political standpoint on a few occasions. I encourage you to watch some of the funny compilations too - they’re honestly a joy to watch on stage AND behind the scenes 😝

I love the Cyphers! My favorite is no. 3, Killer, but they're all amazing. They're so great... really telling off the haters and all the people who've judged them and shit on them over the years. (RM, Suga and J-Hope all cuss, especially in their solo work. Boy howdy do they cuss.) Good job on the fast rap! Supreme boi is a rapper and used to be producer on bighit ,so cyphers r diss tracks by rapline (RM,suga,jhope)to their haters ,in cypher 3 i don't think jhope meant the American rappers,but he was talking about the Korean rappers that think u need to rap in English to be called rap where here BTS r saying that it's not the language what matters but the lyrics ...

some information incase you still a little confuse. as you know bts consist 7 members, 3 rappers (rm, suga, and jhope) and 4 vocalist (jin, jimin, v, jungkook). they usually make unit group with this line up, the rap line is the one do the talk to haters and vocal line is the one calm the fans down.. rap line actually have more songs as unit outside cyphers, I'll recommend outro:tear they actually wrote that songs for the member in the midst of disbanding. a little background rm and suga is used to be an underground rapper, both are the first and second member to join the group, at first they thought they'd be a hiphop team who only do rap and jhope come with his street dancer background followed by jin which known by his good looks and that's when they knew they're no longer just a hiphop team but a kpop idol. jhope actually join with barely a knowledge about rap but then he learn and killed it so he became part of the rap line, he actually an all rounder who dance rap and sing just like jungkook but just like jungkook focusing on singing and became the main vocal of the group jhope is the main dancer and sub rapper of the group. anyway, love your video bro thank you for being genuine I'll look forward to your armys journey and your stories 🖤

they usually diss the korean hip hop scene. bts started as a hiphop group but they were given the kpop label because they sing and dance too. this made the korean hiphop rappers insult them (there's clips of it on youtube) they said bts rappers are not real rappers. they're like girls and called them idol rappers (idol rappers are those rappers in a kpop group who really dont have roots in rapping but are made to rap because their company said so). in reality unlike them the bts rappers all started in underground hiphop scene even before joining bts.

When they debuted K-hiphop “rappers” ridiculed the rapline-specifically RM & Suga-even to their face, because they had formed an idol group instead of staying as underground solo rappers, which is what they started as. There’s actually a video on youtube showing a group of korean rappers demeaning them for it. So, much of their cyphers here reference these haters & anyone else who have judged them in the past. There are no groups like BTS & I’m going to be blunt but honest when I say I cannot stand or listen to almost all other groups or anything that’s considered Kpop, let alone their rappers bc BTS set the bar so high with their quality & also others rarely follow the simple yet fundamental rule of writing their own rap. Also, if you know Korean, you’d know that the quality of their writing is a cut above the rest in terms of korean rap & lyricism, & easily the best in idol groups/kpop. There are many groups who exist that do try to mimic or replicate what BTS have done, but none of the results have ever held a candle to what Bangtan can do. It’s neat to see so many music fans take them seriously, especially after so many of the greats (J. Cole, Wale, Coolio, Warren G., Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell to name a few) have praised their music & abilities. BTS cyphers are insanely good, they did say at that time they have so many frustrating/anger/desperation to proof themselves hence the hard sound & blunt lyrics from all those early era but nowadays they have come to an acceptance and have become much more refine on the direction of their music, individually and as a group. He used to be a trainee in BigHit and was chosen to debut as a hip hop group along with RM and probably Suga and J-hope too Idk, however upon finding out they were going to become a K-pop idol group he opted to end his journey as a trainee.
