Why are we only hearing about this now after Clark got her shoe deal? Clark wasn't in the WNBA. Her stardom has to do with her college basketball career. Similar to how Zion Williamson got a shoe deal from Nike before even stepping on an NBA court. The fact that A'ja doesn't have a shoe deal should have been a mainstream issue way before now. Especially since white WNBA players like Breanna Stewart got shoe deals. And Stewart signed her shoe deal all the way back in 2021 with Puma.

A shoe deal is not a reward, it’s an economic wager. If the manufacturer doesn’t think the deal will be wildly successful, they won’t make the deal. Just think about some of the deals that were massive failures. ie coors light
