I’m not too worried about the Real Slim Gradey. He’s a much better shooter than he’s been this season, I don’t think anyone can deny that despite his struggles. Jaquez turns 23 in a couple weeks. JHS and Dick are 20. Scoot turns 20 soon. Lively is exactly what the Mavs needed position wise and he’s worked out really well, I’m happy for him. I think judging draft picks in their rookie years is mostly an exercise in futility.

I think the funniest part of NBA fandom is watching your team draft a young player purely on potential and then complain when that young player isn’t polished. It happens sometimes that a player comes out of college after 1 or 2 years and is very good, but more often than not they need development.

As a Magic fan, I’m not really too worried about the FO missing on Hawkins. Always knew he was going to be the best shooting prospect in the draft but we’ve still needed a long-term shooter that can do threaten defenses off-ball and on-ball which was the sell with Jett Howard’s tape in Michigan. Lively right now to me though seems like the bigger regret just cause athletic Cs like Lively that can handle defending the perimeter well enough and rim protect, usually don’t come with much complementary skills and Lively’s passing is what made him interesting as he could pass off rolls to the rim.

Unless you are an elite player or great at worse, where you get drafted (meaning the team and the mentality of said team) plays a role. I'm always lenient to call players as "busts" until a solid 3-4 years in their careers because a player's career can turn around so quickly. I remember when people were calling Scottie Barnes "the next Michael Carter-Williams" after a mediocre 2nd season and now he is by far the most valuable piece that Toronto has. Jalen Suggs was considered a bust during his first couple seasons and now, he is an important part of the Magic's rotation. Hell, Brandon Miller was declared a bust before he even played a game in the NBA.

Coulibaly and Whitmore should’ve went top 5 idc what happens this season both 19 I’ll stand on it that a few years from now they will both be top 5 from the class (health permitting). Just like in 2022 JDub should’ve went top 3 and Tari Eason top 10 maybe top 5 and 2021 Jalen Johnson should’ve went top 5…passing on these guys for fit of perceived floor is irresponsible

Why we gonna skip right over Anthony Black at the #6 pick? He's been playing killer defense and off ball action. He reminds me of Derrick White.

You gotta HOPE Scoot becomes something special, cuz coming into the draft they said he should've went #1 or 2.. only a few said #1 but looking at Scoot he really looks like he should be in the G-League or he needs to be switched to an undersized 2 guard, cuz it's looking bad for him having the title "generational talent".. like i think everyone bought into the hype cuz Scoot showed all these bad habits on the G-League Ignite.. he has time but that generational talent tag is gone and he'll have to just become a good player. I'm sure the Blazers will be selecting Rob Dillingham in this year's draft.

Scoot would be a clear #1 in this year's draft and there was no other options at 3 for Portland in reality.

I just wanted a Dick jersey lol. But he isn't strong enough to play in the NBA, and in reality, he got a year or so to find his shot.

I’m not trolling drafting an American white player in the first round is one of the worst mistakes a team could make. Last great white American player was Larry bird drafted 46 years ago. White American nba all stars last 25 years? Brad Miller, Kevin love, Kyle Korver, and Chris Kaman🤣 Brad Miller was undrafted player, and Kyle Korver was 51st pick second round Chet holgram has been good but he was leagues better then this kid in college

@@stevesharpe3370 Herro is balling in Miami. Duncan Robinson too. Caruso is a legit defender, as well as Grayson Allen who's actually playing better than their big 3 at times.

@@RejectHumanityReturn2Monke none of these guys are all-stars. Duncan Robinson and Caruso were undrafted. Surprised you didn’t bring up Austin reeves who was undrafted as well. Tyler hero as been pretty good as white American first round draft pick and Grayson Allen has faired pretty well for a late first round pick, but you were only able to name two white American players drafted in the first round who are simply only fringe starters. Like I said it’s not smart drafting a white American in the first round, now a white foreign born player is a whole another story

@@stevesharpe3370 I mostly agree with you, but Podz was picked a few picks after Dick and he’s been balling out! Plus Cooper Flag is the highest rated recruit in the country. Kevin Love was All-NBA for years. But yea, the list is def shorter than the international/European white guy list…

@@stevesharpe3370 there’s a ton of American white boys dominating college ball right now, but unfortunately most don’t have games that will prob translate great to the pros. Zach Edey, Hunter Dickinson, Donovan Clingan, Kyle Filipowski, Tyler Kolek, Marcus Domask, Dalton Knecht…
