Protestors should be banned from making a noise and using loud hailers in Whitehall. The whole length of it. It is - supposedly - the centre of our government, not an extension of Speaker's Corner. It is a disgraceful and thoughtless way to behave near horses. Unfair on both the guards and the animals.
@xandra79863 ай бұрын
But surely that’s the perfect place to protest because Government is at one end and Trafalgar Square is at the other. The protesters went by quickly and the soldier took the horse in very promptly.
@helveticaificationАй бұрын
You think protesters should be diverted from the 'centre of our government' because it upsets the horses? Perhaps the horses should be consulted in a survey, since their equine opinions obviously take priority over human opinions. They would probably vote for a field.

As far as protests go, if tourists have paid to visit the King's Guard, they should not be subjected to noisy protesters. Detour the protest around the area and you'll find their enthusiasm for disrupting the whole area fading fast. Consider their real agenda and it becomes very clear what their goal is...shutting down the King's Guards and forcing King Charles III's administration to acquiesce to their demands political or otherwise, like women's rights etc. Lofty goals that are doomed from the outset, but that's not going to stop them. Welcome to fascism.

How dare the visitors go through the guard box while it's empty!? And the very LEAST the protestors could do is respect the horses and stay silent as they draw near and pass through!! Visitors need to give at least a 10' radius around any of the guards and horses. Physical barriers shouldn't be put up because if a threat is seen, they need to act with nothing in their way. Honestly they shouldn't even allow visitors. A quick walk-by pic or something from the other side of the road is one thing. But being all up in their work space is horrendous, and they are causing distractions away from potential dangers. The guards are there for the King, not for the public!

These idiots don't seem to realise that horses, like all prey animals, can see everything going on around them except directly in front (close to the horse) and, similarly, directly behind them. Everywhere else is within their vision so creeping up to a horses side is totally ridiculous because they always know exactly where you are. I hate seeing them being distressed by inconsiderate humans, like those protesters. They don't deserve to put up with that and a lot of poor horses get injured in their duties all the time whether in the army or the mounts of despicable fox hunters, I really feel for all the animals people force their actions onto.

@@joquartobeans398 it means they are prey, not that they prey on other animals... From the website: The Spruce Pets: Humans are omnivores, lions are carnivores, and horses are herbivores. The way their teeth are formed (grinding molars to break down fibrous plant material), the position of their eyes (on the sides of the face to be on the lookout for predators), and the type of digestive system they have are all typical characteristics of herbivores.

I know the King's Life Guards stand 1 hour shifts in the Horse boxes and are relieved by another pair of guards. Does anybody know if it's just 1 one hour shift per day that they Serve Guard Duty or if they alternate the hours on and off for a whole day?? I'm asking for a couple of reasons: if it's for one hour per day - it's BAD enough, but if these awesome Guards have to keep coming back and forth dealing with these people - the truly awesome people and the unbelievably NASTY ARSE HOLES - I don't know how they tolerate the verbal and physical abuse OVER and OVER AGAIN!!! The VILE SOB'S WHO CAN'T CONTROL THEMSELVES AND BEHAVE LIKE THEY JUST GOT RELEASED FROM A CAVEMAN COMMUNE SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED ANY WHERE CLOSE TO THESE MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS!! I HAVEN'T HEARD OR READ ANY ANSWERS TO WHY THERE AREN'T PHYSICAL BARRICADES INSTALLED TO KEEP PEOPLE AWAY FROM THE GUARDS AND HORSES - THE HORSE'S ESPECIALLY!! I'M PRETTY SURE THAT THE REASONS INCLUDE THE VERY HIGH PROBABILITY THAT ANYTHING CLOSER TO THE GUARD'S HORSES WHEN THEY ARE SPOOKED OR HAVE BEEN HURT AND BOLT THEY WOULD RESPOND AS THOUGH THEY'RE TRAPPED AND CAN'T OBEY THEIR FLIGHT INSTINCT TO FLEE AND COULD CHARGE THE BARRICADES TO TRY TO GET AWAY FROM THE PERCEIVED THREAT TO THEM AND BE HURT UP TO AND INCLUDING BROKEN LEGS OR WORSE!! IT'S TOO BAD SOME OF THE INFORMATION GIVEN TO TOURISTS WHEN THEY ARRIVE IN THE UK DOESN'T INCLUDE RULES OF CONDUCT NEAR AND CLOSE TO THESE GUARDS SINGLY OR WITH THEIR MOUNTS ISN'T PRESENTED IN EVERY LANGUAGE POSSIBLE BY CHOICE ON PLANES, THROUGH TUNNELS, VIA TRAIN OR BY WATER!! THEY MUST SIGNIFY THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED, UNDERSTAND AND WILL COMPLY!! IF THEY VIOLATE THAT AGREEMENT - ARREST THEM!! CHARGE THEM A LARGE FINE AND SERVE THEM WITH A RESTRAINING ORDER!!! I'M SO SORRY AND PISSED OFF THAT SOME TOURISTS FEEL ENTITLED TO BEHAVE LIKE RABID ANIMALS TOWARDS THE KING'S LIFE GUARDS!!

The troopers used to keep their swords razor sharp and anyone causing trouble would have the flat of the blade laid on their shoulder as their only warning. After that they would feel the weight of the weapon and beyond that they would meet the swinging blade,without any fear of reprisals from their assailants. Most of all the troopers would use their voices first. Back off , back off from the king’s guard, then the horse would be ridden against the crowd and a verbal warning issued then the swords could be used. Every trooper that rides as escort to the Royal family was trained on how to use their weapon to deliver a killing blow and had a set of rules for engagement and what they were allowed to do. If they perceived a threat to a crowned head they were expected to do anything that they had to do to remove any threat.

I don’t know anything about their training, so just my uneducated thoughts: I think trying to calm the horses and return them to the box (maybe a few times) is part of their training. (?) It reinforces that everyone is calm, there’s nothing to panic about, nothing bad is happening, etc. It’s conditioning them to remain calm in crowds and noise. When the horse has reached its limit, though, and can’t learn anything positive from continued attempts, they do remove them. It must depend on the horse, whether it’s new or experienced, etc.

I support the Sentiment of the marchers and if the horse got skittish he was calmed down quickly. If the king wasn't so protective of his brother and his latest fad, islam, there would be no need to march in Protest.

The UK is a constitutional monarchy. The monarch is a figurehead and policy is set by a democratically elected government. That’s why the demonstrators were returning from protesting outside the Houses of Parliament, not Buckingham Palace.

Is this not a military area? Why let so many people into the courtyard, jogging gathering, limit the number therefore cutting down on the noise levels for the horses etc… take your photo and move on .
