ABOUT THIS VIDEO
Arriving in Modesto, CA was exciting! I started with a donut and coffee and Mr.T's Delicate Donuts, which was excellent. I then headed downtown and explored the cruising history of Modesto, a town the movie American Graffiti was based upon. The usual landmarks were lovely, and included the McHenry Museum and McHenry Mansion.
About Modesto: Modesto is located in the Central Valley, 68 miles (109 km) south of Sacramento and 90 miles (140 km) north of Fresno. Distances from other places include: 40 miles (64 km) north of Merced, California, 92 miles (148 km) east of San Francisco, 66 miles (106 km) west of Yosemite National Park, and 24 miles (39 km) south of Stockton.
The city is surrounded by rich farmland. Stanislaus County ranks sixth among California counties in farm production.[10] It is home to Gallo Family Winery, the largest family-owned winery in the United States.[11] Led by milk, almonds, chickens, walnuts, and corn silage, the county grossed nearly $3.1 billion in agricultural production in 2011. The farm-to-table movement plays a central role in Modesto living as in the Central Valley. #modesto #travel #rosieokelly

Modesto has the potential to be a beautiful city. It’s in a nice area geographically. It has the rivers that go through it. But sadly it’s overrun by lowlifes and graffiti taggers along with the Gangs which are still part of the lowest of society who are mostly dropouts with no education past the 12 grade. There are many ppl in Modesto willing to bring the city back to life but sadly there’s those mention that give any city a bad reputation

Downtown is the place to go. And even then you’re surrounded by drugs. Close to water? Not even unless you count those marshy like creeks? Real ocean is like 2 hours either direction. North or south. Downtown just has clubs, and then the mall a few mins away. Rent? Let’s hope it stays cheap cause if it gets nicer? They’ll raise the price.

My grandparents Carl Emanuel Tatting and Emmy Wickstrom, we’re from Sweden & settled here in Modesto. I have so many fond memories of all the picnics, visiting all the relatives who owned property and were in agriculture when I was a young girl in the 60s. It’s sad now, most of the properties been sold off before, my dad passed away I took six of my grandkids to meet him and he gave us a tour of the home that my grandfather helped build in the 20s, and then one that he built for his family in the 40s. They don’t build homes like that anymore, he also helped build the old bridge with lions that stood on the ends of it. My dad grew up on River Road, the river was in his backyard, I used to love visiting my grandma Emy there. My uncle George Tiura married my aunt Gertrude Tatting, uncle George was a blacksmith, he owned a shop and made blades and other things for farming machinery, my cousin David followed in his footsteps and ran the shop for many years. 🤗💗🌷

I’ve lived in Modesto for 25 years now. Mr T’s has awards. They are great. You’ve made Modesto look really nice but it’s become dangerous. It’s right behind Stockton as for danger. I’ve wanted to move but it’s affordable here and I love my house. So I’m just careful where I go and when I go there. We have a lot of homeless and drug addicts walking around. Yeah, water wealth contentment health is a pretty weird slogan right enough. I live in a town in Scotland called Livingston and the local authority put up signs saying "life is for Livingston". 🫤 Then some joker kept painting the letters ed onto the end of it, so it looked like it said "life is for living stoned". Scottish humour at its finest. 🤣👍
@LadyLegz
@LadyLegz 7 ай бұрын
The slogan used to fit in the 30s. Since the 90's they should have changed it to "Drugs, Shootings, Gangs and Assholes. But it's still pretty." That'll fit. lol You should look up Livingston here in California and compare yours to ours.
