It’s because Skid Row is close to China Town and Little Tokyo. Skid row is truly the craziest place in the country, but it’s not literally a city/town. So the nearby areas that are official , they get the crime stats of skid row. There’s a bleed-over effect. Simple.
@stoicsage9989
@stoicsage9989 2 жыл бұрын
I lived in LA for 10 years. “The numbers don’t lie,” you said. What is missing in your video is that not ALL CRIMES are reported to the police. The business owners in Chinatown and Little Tokyo, which borders each other, DO REPORT the crimes more so than the other neighborhoods that you covered. So while you’re correct that the numbers don’t lie, one cannot trust the official numbers due to the incomplete reporting. This doesn’t mean that Chinatown and Little Tokyo are safe. It just means that the other neighborhoods are even MORE dangerous than their numbers are telling.
@chrissmalley83
@chrissmalley83 2 жыл бұрын
The statistics are skewed further because "per capita" is dividing the crime only into the number of residents. Divide crimes into residents *and visitors* and Little Tokyo and Chinatown would fall off the list entirely. People visit Little Tokyo. Anyone in Crenshaw lives in Crenshaw.

The Hells Angels and the Bloods are planning to eradicate the Aryan Brotherhood, the Nazi Lowriders and the White Boy Posse by summer 2023 by taking out their hierarchy, high ranked and leaders to make their main ally the Bloods have less rivals so growing faster. I have access to informations from high ranked Hells Angels and Bloods. They will deny this until it is done but don't wait until it is too late to prevent what is coming so let your leaders know about. You must save the work of your ancestors by boycotting and killing your local Hells Angels and Bloods members, high ranked, chapter leaders and leaders as soon as possible, the higher rank the better. It is time, tomorrow could be too late. They think that their targets will not realize and prevent their fall before it is too late then making their Hells Angels and Bloods alliance more powerful and influent but the informations went out unfortunately. Do you part to not let this happen, prove your worth! For your ancestors hard work and sacrifices and for the children's future!

As someone who was born and raised in these neighborhoods, my elementary school was South Park elementary. It's a badge of honor that I survived the LA Hoods. But I'll also say, not everyone is a victim. 1) if you don't get involved with the street life and unlawful actives then you're less likely to be a 'victim' of a crime. 2) Don't walk around looking scared then you make yourself a target. 3) Common sense, be aware of your surrounding and yes don't walk around in unfamiliar places at night. 4) MInd yo business. See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. Snitches' get stiches. Cops come questioning you about crime, you may feel the urge to "Do the right thing" and be a good witness report everything to the cops. But once the cops are gone aint nobody gonna protect you from those you snitched on. Now you made yourself the next target. ***STORY TIME: Once locked my keys in the car, it was late night past 2 am needed to drive home. After an hour of trying AAA failed to unlock my car. I saw a lone person walking the dark streets looking into cars to break in and steal the stereo system. I asked him if he could help me with my locked keys. He said yea, pulled a slim jim out of his sleeve and opened the my car in under 10 seconds. Then he looked at me and was excited that I remembered him! I was confused at first, but turned out he was my 2nd grade classmate (South Park elementary) now in our early 20s. We chatted a bit, then he said he needed to get back to work and told me to let him know if I was ever in the market for a car stereo system. That was the last time I saw him. (TRUE STORY)

One of the problems is that in the truly bad areas most people never call police because they are scared. Police are not really going to solve crime problems. Most of the places that I saw true positive change was in areas where you had the people through the churches helping there communities. Politicians and police don't really do much. After the Rampart police scandal was revealed and many people went to jail and the whole PD was reformed in that area things started changing from 2000 until about 2015...now there is a growing homeless population around the park but the development is continuing. its an interesting complex urban scenario. Rich folks moving in meanwhile homeless right outside. the gang fighting from MS13 decreased as the drug wars in the park and surrounding areas is less violently visible as it was with body bags and white sheets visible on the sidewalks as the cops conduct the investigations... somethine wild to comprehend if you have just moved from a more typically safe city.

I visited for a week. Of course I stayed in populated areas , didn’t go out at night. When on day tours. I enjoyed. I was aware it was a dangerous city, but all cities are if you don’t know area. I went to Memphis for Elvis week in 23. And in both cities went by myself. I still had a good time. But was always cautious. Stayed in at night if possible. Memphis is dangerous too. But I couldn’t believe how laid back Americ are down there. I talked to a lot, good sense of humour, friendly to talk to. Very hospitable. I think we are a little more uptight in Canada, not really bad, but not as relaxed as Americans. I definitely noticed that. LA is a warm climate too. So is going to to attract homeless. Greed is main reason I think people homeless, turn to crime theft, All these millionaires, and a lot slum landlords too, rent way too high. Wages are not high enough. And even if you get decent pay don’t get the hours. But it’s like that every where. California is beautiful. But it has its tragedies, crime, weather, too expensive to live. But it’s like that pretty much everywhere too.

I'll be honest, I don't know everything that's happening in my neighborhood, however, it doesn't feel as unsafe as he makes it seem. There has to be more dangerous neighborhoods than Crenshaw and West Adams. Also, both the neighborhoods are now heavily gentrified. Property values have shot up 150% in the last 5 years.

Nobody who actually lives in LA would say West Adams is more dangerous than Crenshaw. I live in WA and there’s plenty to be careful of sure (especially as you go further South of the freeway), but for the most part it’s a harmless burb with a bunch of indie coffee shops, art galleries, and (yes) liquor stores and shady scam artists. Not exactly a hive of gang warfare or anything though. Only heard gunshots once in over a year living here. Whereas I hear shots sometimes just driving South of here

As a kid growing up in Hawthorne, Inglewood and Lennox, all throughout the 80s until 1992, I always thought LA was the greatest place on earth because it was featured in almost every movie and TV show, and that gang violence was a normal thing that all places had; getting jumped for your jacket or bike was just something that happened regularly everywhere. As an adult living in South Florida, I gotta say...in hindsight, I lived in a goddam warzone! My parents can confirm, the cops were to blame...they witnessed beatings and even had to Identify the dead body of a tenant we had living in a small house behind our house (duplex); the man was a very docile, sweet guy with a Wife and two small kids and my folks said he was complete covered in bruises.

So sad, I remember dads taking us kids to Dodger stadium with my friends for games and eating locally before the games, also used to take school field trips to the Natural History museum. Those days are sadly gone

As someone from LA the top 2 sound so unbelievable. I now live a few streets from Watts and the worst thing in the area are the ghetto drivers. As far as the crimes in LA, I guess I’ve lived a very sheltered life in the 26 years of being alive because I have YET to have major issues with crime personally.

Everywhere has crimes but Californians can’t protect themselves when you know the criminal will have a gun while law abiding citizens won’t. Wouldn’t ever move to cali or anyplace that won’t allow regular citizens to own pretty much any type of firearm they want except automatic firearms

We probably live very close to each other. I live close to MJ's park. Looking for trouble is going into Nickerson Gardens at night when you don't know anyone living there with bad intentions. Jordan Downs is actually in the process of being revitalized and looking pretty good. It's true there are pockets of areas around here that one should avoid and sometimes there is confusion when people start popping off fireworks, but even the "bums" won't mess with ya and I don't fear going to the liquor store on 120th and Central, whereas it was a complete no go back in the 80"s and 90's. I'd say we have a mixture of more good than bad and you can't say it's one race vs another causing most of the mayhem. If going off the Citizens app alone, we're in a pretty safe area compared to other areas in this video though we all know people in China Town and Little Tokyo are far more apt to report crime whereas people in other areas mentioned may feel its a waste of time even calling the police which explains the higher crime rate. I can't believe people are actually paying all that money to live in high rises next to skid row 🙄

When in LA, just be careful driving in unknown neighborhoods. Because some people look at that as suspicious behavior. Especially Watts,Compton,Inglewood, and Crenshaw districts.

Note: Compton is not an LA neighborhood. It is a city itself, like Long Beach or Downey. Easy enough mistake to make. Many Detroiters mistake Highland Park and Hamtramck for neighborhoods (they are not part of Detroit).
