Literally every video that's about any conflict in which the French participated have surrender "jokes" in its comments section. Or other kinds of belittling/insulting messages. All of them. I haven't seen that done for any other nation. Some people SERIOUSLY believe the French are weak/cowards and they seem to hold genuine hate for France for some unknown reason. I don't know wether that hate comes from the defeat in WWII, from the refusal to join the US in 2003, or if it's just due to the fact that the internet is mostly dominated by nations that have been our rivals for centuries (when it's not an American, it's often Brits or Germans/Wehraboos who type this kind of shit), but it's really baffling to me. I've seen hate comments under videos about the hundred years war (1337-1453), the Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815), Operation Serval (2013), etc. All of this just because the French government surrendered ONCE in 1940. But apparently hating on the French is absolutely ok, probably because we're a Western country. Some people apparently feel the need to deny France every victories and every single bits of glory it had in its 1000+ years of history, even when they know NOTHING about it. Just because it performed poorly once. Meanwhile they praise Germany and sometimes even the Nazis, no matter how many dishonorable atrocities they have commited in WW2. I like jokes, and I've made the surrender jokes quite a few times myself when I was younger, even though I myself am French. But when you hear it for the 100th time it just gets tiring, especially when it's said with actual disrespect, and when it's not really a "joke" anymore.
