It Is difficult to reason with people which seems to think that open source plastic recycling done by communities Is as Dangerous for the enviroment as those entities that are actually plastic producers. My advice would be, start to get your hands dirty with the research for a solution, before closing your eyes with and easy judgment.

I think we would all agree to that. If you watched until the end, you will have seen that one part of Flipflopi's work is to work on regulations and laws to tackle the problem from the source - as recycling alone is only to clean up the mess, so we need to make sure we avoid the mess from happening in the first place. Tough one though, sadly the industry is powerful. :/

@@Precious_Plastic Yeah I wrote that before reaching the end of the video, and you're right. It will probably take regulations. Specific regulations need to be proposed. Manufacturers won't propose them on their own; society has to get together and ram this change through them. First option is just to ban single use plastics, but that would be tricky. The next would be to produce a universal standard container spec which meets specifications for recycling (and come complete with tooling to actually do it). Go in increments from 0.5L and increase in powers of 2. Once that's in place, require the manufacturers and designers to produce a similarly spec'd product. Shift their financial focus from "making things pretty" to "making things functional". If they want to save on those extra costs, they can just use the universal standard.
