Dicey Dungeons Part 18 - sick of the roguelike part of this game? Worry no more, the puzzle portion is here, and this is right up my alley! You should all know that I'm jumping at any opportunity to solve some good puzzles.

You could deduce that in the blind puzzle you have to start with a 6 because at the end you need 3 2s which adds to 6 and none of the equipment increases the total value of your dice

If you want more puzzles, the Halloween Episode has a set of puzzles for the Witch as well, though it focuses more on the spellbook than this one

Really cool idea for an episode that both challenges the player's knowledge and teaches them exactly how some mechanics interact. Always a good sign when devs have this level of knowledge about their own game

The secret to the single blind 6-die is that all of the options don't change the total that all your dice add up to and you need to have 3 2s at the end, so you have to have started with a 6.

This was one of the first times where before each puzzle I paused and tried to find the solution. Normally I just love to watch your videos because of your entertainment and just general enjoyment of watching you play games, today I finally came for the puzzles. Would definitely like to see the other witch puzzle

The key with the blind puzzle is to realize that all of the equipment preserves total pip count. Since you need 6 pips to win, you know that the starting die has to be 6. That's how you can do it without retrying.

It was a fun ride following your logic! Sometimes, I do not buy a puzzle game due to the fear of not beating it. But you make it seem so simple and joyful.

I'm surprised people can play this game for so long and still not understand how fury works. Fury doesn't add 1 use to your equipment and puts in the same die you did before, It copies your equipment and puts in a die of the same value as you did. So if you fury a bump you don't get a 3 from a 1 you get 2 2s, if you nudge a 6 you don't get a 4 you get 2 5s

It's just that the wording of the action is "increase value by 1", not "return dice with value increased by 1". Even though it appears to be implied in every action.

@@samuelding7854 the difference is pretty huge honestly. One way you only have to use one dice and the equipment is used twice (fury), and the other you have to spend a second dice to play it again (re-equip). Fury can more easily materialize extra dice out of thin air since it uses the equipment for you, sort of like Snapping cards that return dice with the Jester.

I feel like the final puzzle could have been solved by creating 4 2's as you said you could, since inflicting stun is unnecessary as the boss dies next turn anyway

5:50 I was able to deduce it had to be a 6, a starting 4 or 2 doesn't work. I didn't consider 1/3/5 because I was fairly certain an even was required to start with.

Some other commenters pointed out, that none of the equipments increase (or decrease) the total die value available. Therefore if you have to end with a total die value of 3×2=6 your start has to have a total die value of 6, so its one 6

He edits out the part where he's thinking. It took me a long while to realize it from watching his videos, but he always just skips his actual live thought process and makes it seem like he solved every puzzle in 30 seconds each.

I tried out the Reunion DLC yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to find slightly different mechanics per character, but this one was quite the experience. It really makes you think about what you do and when to properly use all your equipment and dice!

What they should have done for that last puzzle is make the stun unsolvable so that there is no way to get a stun without leftover dice or equipment, to trip up people like Tyler who always want the perfect solution but forget that you don't need a stun if you kill that turn.

That's what's meant to happen! ...But there's a bug in the puzzle selection, so you're not always offered a "perfect" puzzle.

5:59 The sum all your dice is always constant, so you can figure out that the die has to be a 6 if the puzzle is actually solvable.

Halloween special dicey dungeons has the witch be basically just a bunch of puzzles (the Halloween special was first). Also, the puzzles use the spellbook now.

Anyway, the other witch episode you were talking about at the end is in the Halloween Bonus Episodes, which if you don't have yet, will become available in October

Hey Aliensrock, been watching for a while and love your approach to puzzles and how you add an entertaining flair to playthroughs. I would be really interested to see a playthrough of "Linelight" on Steam. It's a pretty underrated game about a line that moves around interacting with its world and I think you'd enjoy it.

I knew Tyler would absolutely crush this episode, aside from the slight stumble on the fury interaction. Are there even any cases where you'd use fury on a dice maker in the normal game? Generally, your best thing to duplicate is always an attack. Maybe it's good to mass dice on the Witch, if she even has access to a source of fury.

Generally, fury on a dice manipulator is better than furying a weapon if you've got reusable stuff. For example, if you somehow have Fury as Thief, you might want to use Fury on a Lockpick to get more dice, rather than using it on your Dagger+. Furying dice manip that gets you lots of dice (e.g. Vise Grip+, Blender) is also great if you've got a way to use them.

It is impossible to do the blind thing with anything less than a six. There isn't any bumps or stuff like that in that puzzle, everything in there keeps your total dice value constant (Sine wave just transfers 1 point to a different dice, chisel chisel and the last one just split dice apart). Given that you need 3 twos at the end, you need 6 total value in your starting die, and you only have one die, which means that it must be a six

While he had 3 "two"s for the Mastermind spell, he had not used up the Nudge+ spell completely. Which means Madisson wouldn't be stunned, and would deal 1 damage. It's still technically acceptable, but he wanted to find the perfect solution.

For the record, Tyler, this isn't the first time this has happened for the Witch. They did something similar for a Halloween update a while back. But those episodes are no longer playable...

You like games with lots of strategy and stuff right? Try Factorio! It’s a game that is heavily based off of logistics and strategy. I think you would like it. Also I recommend playing without enemies or on peaceful mode because they make the game slightly less fun (in my opinion)
