Carolyn Oates Covers "Thick as a Brick" by Jethro Tull.
I discovered Jethro Tull in my twenties and Thick as Brick has been part of my music landscape ever since. Thank you Ian Anderson for your contribution to the world of music, it's made me a better musician and songwriter.

It takes a lot of guts to take on Jethro Tull. The timing of the guitar notes versus the vocals, requires skill. Bravo Ms Carolyn! I had to listen a second time. Very nice.

What a beautiful rendition. Brings tears to my eyes like the first time I heard this in the Spring of 1972 as a Junior in high school. It's still my favorite JT album. I saw Ian and Company in concert several times here in Kansas City. I even had several of his albums also in 8-Track format. Best concert I ever saw was Tull's 25th anniversary tour, when they were just 5 musicians on the stage with instruments and monitors. No light show, none of the usual kooky theatrics. They played 22 minutes of Thick as a Brick. Didn't miss a note. Takes brass to tackle this. Nice work!

You make it look so easy, as you know it ain't. Loved the picking and vocals Miss Oates, stirs my very soul when I hear most tracks from JT and Thick as a Brick just sums up the 70's and the very nature of the English folk music scene, always innovative and breaking new ground, from Greenslade to Yes and Hedgehog Pie to Pink Floyd. I was so lucky then, I didnt really appreciate the moment properly.

Like many of the people commenting here, I've been listening to Tull since the early 70's and at one time had all of their albums. Have seen them twice in concert, etc. I can't think of one single example of someone covering one of their songs, however. A bold task covering this one, but it was refreshing hearing an entirely new version of it. It's especially enjoyable hearing a woman's voice singing those lyrics. Well done.

Also an original Tull fan which means I’m showing my age. Ian Anderson is most talented singer, songwriter, and musician in the history of rock, as are the wide variety of Tull members throughout the years. It’s a travesty that he’s not in the rock hall of fame, but he and any band that called themselves Jethro Tull are a level above just about all of the hall inductees, and that makes them and his devoted fans special.
