Diablo Amped Thick Metal Carbide Teeth Reciprocating saw blades are made to cut steel up to 9/16" as well as stainless steel.
Diablo Amped Carbide 9-inch: homedepot.sjv.io/WjQmP
Diablo Amped Carbide 6-inch: homedepot.sjv.io/nO606
We put our blades to the test using schedule 40 4" pipe (1/4" wall) as well as some 8" C-channel with 5/16" thick steel and more than 1/2" thick webbing. Even after cutting multiple cuts through the pipe and C-channel, we didn't have any missing carbide teeth on the blades.
These Diablo Amped recip blades for thick metal can be purchased in 4", 6", 9", and 12" lengths, as well as 1, 2, 3, and 10-packs.

Hello Shop Tool Reviews! As a retired Navy Hull Technician, I've done metalwork and been involved in fabrication and inspection for decades. I was shopping around for something to cut metal pipe for a project I'm working on and your video showed up. I really appreciate your review and demonstration here! Wishing you all the best! The thicker blade offering better control and less vibration, NICE!!! Thanks again.

Thank you very much. Thank you for your service to our country so that we are FREE. These thick metal blades from Diable are great for cutting thicker pipe, they definitely stay on track and don't seem to wander as bad. Thanks for watching.

Yep, those blades kick butt. I had a well used one, needed to cut an inch and a quarter pin twice. Used a water hose on trickle to keep it cool and getter done.

I never use that one, but I use the Diablo blade about three years ago to cut up a cast-iron radiator. First we tried with 7 inch grinder, however the blade would not reach all the way through. But the Diablo blade cut through the biggest part (which is over half inch) and I made six cuts like butter. The people were going to actually buy me a new blade, but there was no need to it was fine. I just picked up some Diablo thin metal carbide tip blades today, they have a TPI of 20

Had to use a 9in thick metal one to cut through bushings and grade 10 bolts on the lower control arm for my car. Hell i cut the lower control arm in half with it just to get more clearance. But dear God did it work and I only had to use 1 blade and it still looks fine.

The speed is what makes the big heat. These operate just like a drill bit. Speed vs Rate of feed. With a tool that has varying speed, concentrate on using less speed, and more pressure. The performance is much better. They just do better the slower you run them. This technique will increase heat built in the motor of the device tho, so be careful not to let the smoke out of it.

Will it cut through weld?
@dirtdogdigital3979

In your opinion what is the most difficult metal to cut thru w/a Sawzall? If one wanted to seriously slow down Catalytic bandits, exactly what grade, thickness etc of metal would you use? I'm thinking of welding a line of cold rolled along the exhaust system.

Can a 20V cordless reciprocating saw with a good blade cut through 1mm-thick spring steel plate?
@Shoptoolreviews
@Shoptoolreviews 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, with the right blade, it should cut through it. Now, at the same time, I wouldn't recommend using it to cut a lot of 1" thick spring steel. Thanks for watching.

@@Shoptoolreviews Would a cordless jig saw with the right blade be just as effective? It would be easier to control with one hand for what I need to do.

Would using cutting oil help extend the life of the blade?
@Shoptoolreviews
@Shoptoolreviews 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, lubricating the cutting surface will typically always help extend the cutting life. Not only does it lubricate, but it also helps to keep it cool. Thanks for watching.

Why not use this blade with a super sawzall. I have use these blades with super sawzall to cut through metal and cut a lot faster
@Shoptoolreviews
@Shoptoolreviews 3 жыл бұрын
We could have done this, but we didn't want it to be about the saw. We really wanted to test and showcase the blade itself. Mark my words, if I would have used a Super Sawzall, we would have several comments about using a new tool to get such good results, etc. However, the Super Sawzall is a great tool. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Start of the video you say you didnt have the time at the event to see how long the blades last then when theyre in the shop you dont test them to see how long they last? sure its gonna vary by user, and a little luck on how well each specific blade was bonded and how each cut goes.. only takes a tiny mistake to chip off a couple teeth and that starts a chain process.. but in general using the saw in your hand a few minutes between cuts how many does it make... maybe test two blades in each material to get a little consistency, probably 10 man hours put in to get this video out why not put in that extra hour to make it informative

You're pretty informed on how long it takes to film and produce a video. A little off, but you're very close. :) We actually Did use up the blade. We were just reluctant to share the info. And, we had this discussion with ourselves before filming the conclusion of the KZfaq video. Because of your question, and our prior reservation, we just dropped another video on Instagram showing the total number. We made 15 cuts with one Diablo Amped blade, and we made a 16th this morning to show it in use once more. The amazing thing is ALL the carbide teeth are still on the blade. Typically, on other blades, these like to disappear (fly off) after a few cuts. Furthermore backstory on why we questioned including this. If you're talking about battery runtime on driving 3" deck screws in wood, that's pretty straightforward. Same with an impact wrench on 3" bolts with 7/8" threads, or cutting conduit with a recip. It's pretty hard to screw that up. However, you start publishing numbers on how much of a car you can sand with a single sanding disc, or how many pieces of thick pipe you can cut with one blade, you get those from all sides saying there's no way, etc., etc. Anyway, I'm sure we're overthinking it, but those were our results. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

@@Shoptoolreviews yeah i agree it can be all over the place at times.. but just posting comparisons between products an disclaiming hey this is what we got doing it our way your results WILL vary should be plenty to notify people you arent promising x amount of cuts from so and so's blade, im just curious is all what can be expected from one blade, maybe in linear feet of 1/4" plate, with oil without oil, all at once vs letting it cool every so often, cost comparison to an angle grinder and abrasive disk, ive used recips for piecing up 1/4" before and liked it, the bimetal milwuakee torch's actually did better then carbide... but compared to the grinder it was really hard to stay true to a line even with a straight edge clamped down and it made quite the racket... those bimetal torch blades could cut for as long as you like though.. theyd last a dozen feet easily unit i messed up and bent the blade somehow after that theyd track too far off thanks for the video keep em coming, any coverage on milwuakee's pipeline video deal? i seen the first batch of new tools waiting on whats next

I don't get spending all day cutting or grinding a piece of metal apart. I bought a 5⅜" Milwaukee circular saw for metal and it'll cut through pipes like a hot knife through butter. You have to change blades for ferrous and non-ferrous metals but compared to these other options it totally kicks anything else's ass.
