Thief Simulator Speedrun Story% - 55m14s WR!

Thanks to OceansCurse for showing me the way... I just improved the money management and a few things here and there.
Turned internal clock to July to remove Xmas events to hope this gets approved for the WR!
(my previous time of 55:44 was with xmas trees and gifts)

Watching this in 2022, I bought that game this year, and I love it!! Probably I made 8 hours trying the same things again and again, but I've played on Switch so forgive me lol

Thanks! There is definitely a few minutes to save here and there just by this routing. Can for sure cut out some of the looting from the later stages since experience is way over what you need and a lot of items never being sold to achieve the right cash for the pro laptop. I feel sub 50mins is possible with a perfect run.

Haha I thought the exact same thing when I learned how to speedrun. Really fun to glitch through doors. You can also ring doorbells and get through doors you aren't suppose to haha. Fun to try out on various homes, but not used in speedrunning as far as I know

What happened to all the bracelets and locked electronics you saved up in your storage back at home? Also really good run, I look forward to speedrunning this game myself sometime

They sit there forever haha. The money isn't worth the time it takes to break em down/ hack them (or maybe they are! If you can substitute em for something else that saves even more time). They give a ton of experience for taking them which you'll need to level up as the game progresses.

@@poomanchunk yea its time consuming. they should give you an auto hacker later in the game. you end up with so many level up points anyway

It's one of the best parts, but also frustrating parts. The driveway camera can catch you easily if you are slightly out of position.

you can use the glass cutter on 108 where you get the tv in the locked room and get it like that after jumping

If you spam click the car lock pick it will unlock the door much faster than holding down the button. Also which hop-over trick do you need help with? If it's the very start to skip the tutorial, you gotta jump beside the fence then turn into it at the last second. There's an invisible wall that will prevent you from just jumping straight in.

Hey very impressive run can you give me any tips on how to jump over the fence in the first level I've tried over and over and I can't do it

Hey, thanks! For the tutorial skip all you need to do is jump straight (parallel to the fence) then over at the last second. There's an invisible wall on the first section, but it's the second part you can land on. Hope that helps!

it's a new update (at the time of this video it was almost brand new) I haven't gotten in there yet. I think you may need an item only available on New Game+, or a good glitch to get in ;)

Are the hacking routes and safe codes random or did you write them all down / memorized them?

All random. You can back out of a hack and go back in and it will be different. So sometimes it may be faster to do that if the hack is giving you trouble

I think you are looking at runs that didn't include the industrial neighborhood. But good on em if that's a full story% run, that's an impressive time!

You can run through doors when the homeowner is exiting that same door. Just hold forward!

Not lately but I do still want to get back into it and get a sub 50min time. Last few attempts I have gotten stuck going over the rock exiting 204. I've never had a problem with it until now..

Walkings faster than driving. So yeah, don't drive anywhere!! Nah in serious there's a bunch of spots where walking out is actually faster than driving. For example at 3:09 you save like 3 seconds walking instead I drove out. What's in your car doesn't matter. Other than shaving seconds, just practice safes and hacking cuz that'll be biggest time saves unless new routing is found

If a person is leaving their home, all you have to do is hold forward and run against the door as they leave. You'll clip through for the split second the door is open.

If you are referring to 2:17 of the video, house 102? You don't need to open the door or interact with anything at all. Just run forward at the door as they leave. This works on PC 100% of the time. Not sure if console is different

Ah yes good point. It's a strict timing to do both the first mission (steal the old tv) and reach the house before 9:00pm. That is when the person leaves the house to get in. If you practice setting the time to 7pm to grab the old TV, then you can take your time to get to 102 and wait til 9pm as they leave. Eventually you'll get fast enough to set time to 8pm for the TV and enough time to get to 102 before 9pm

Switch is problematic, due to its restrained controls (so do any console). Mouse is much better in thief sim (especially when it comes to pixel hunting some stuff)

However, i was just wondering whether or not you had found anything new after this run that would be useful for us to know as we learn.
