Way to go mate. Great that you were able to get your bike back and not to damaged awesome. I know this might sound strange but I had my power chair nicked several years ago. Never got it back but like you I have an independent tracker in my chair now. At the time we had to keep it in our car garage and it was nicked in the garage. Great video and look forward to more information on this story.

Glad you got the bike back, a few years back I used to work with a tracking company that fitted trackers, Bermondsey was the number 1 place the stolen bikes would end up in the country, some things have not changed it seems.

They do whatever they can to stop the owners from going to retrieve the bikes themselves. I had a friend who had many bikes stolen during his time in London, and they would always tell him that he's not allowed to go there, i suppose now they just lie instead - maybe it's more effective. They do it because there could be a violent altercation between the owner and the thieves, and they want to prevent that from happening, they lied to protect you. I totally disagree with it though, and the fact those two vans didn't even pursue you actually makes me a little mad

Interesting. Yeah I didn't say I was going to retrieve the bike nor was I told not to but you could well be right that they wanted to deter me doing so by lying they were on the scene. I get the feeling my case was more just incompetence / not caring at all. Yes the lack of pursuit was the worst bit in many ways... No wonder there's so much of it around. Thanks for watching

Unfortunate that your bike was targeted but at least you were able to recover it! I've been lucky enough to never have anyone mess around with my bike, the most common place it's parked in public view is Glasgow city centre which is weirdly safe for bikes. Edinburgh which is just up the road and regarded by Glaswegians as "posh" is way worse for motorbike theft, lots of people stopping there on tour fall foul of the local feral teens.

Ah mate am paying 1500 a year for 3rd party only on a 400cc, as London with no garage. But one great thing about accepting responsibility for the security and recovery of your bike, is that it reminds you how poor a service the insurance company (and the police) offer you. As my premium lowers, I question if I will ever get fire and theft cover again or if each year I will just put that money in the bank. After 3 years not only does it cover the replacement of the bike but I still have the money.

Completely agree. I choose third party only too for the reasons you've just said. Garages often don't lower your premium anyway and sometimes increase... Basically they have things sewn up.

I know this feeling of what you went through. You have to go to hell and back to secure your bike. I have a few tips I uses to keep my bike more secure

Monimoto is what I use and rate. Plenty of other trackers on the market tho
