Thanks Karpik. This is excellent. I've had a few attempts at creating this effect but never quite got the realism that your thin film node achieves.

He said "Yo! I found the solution! You need to uncheck "Node Material for Presets" (Edit > Preferences > Renderer > RedShift > General > Node Material for Presets). Then when you create a new RS Standart material, the Shader Graph will open and you can import XPresso pool RS Thin Film there."

Impossible to add RS Thin Film from X-Pool to Node Editor with Redshift 3.5

You need to uncheck "Node Material for Presets" (Edit > Preferences > Renderer > RedShift > General > Node Material for Presets). Then when you create a new RS Standart material, the Shader Graph will open and you can import XPresso pool RS Thin Film there.

Really not clear what is going on in your scene; check thin film output by connecting it to Surface, also you dm me somewhere :)

Спасибо большое за урок! Просто теоретический вопрос - а возможно ли применить этот же эффект не к маске по Френелю, а к Specular уровню. Маска по типу Световое пятно - Тень? У 3ds Max есть эта функция в процедурной карте - Falloff, например.

Привет! Не уверен на 100%, теперь в Редшифте появился OSL в котором можно считать closures - это как раз диффьюз, спекуляр и тд. Но не уверен что их можно дальше по цепочке нод передавать. Как простая альтернатива можно умножить нормаль (нода state -> normal) на направление источника света (либо вручную в const вектор задать, либо вычесть из позиции источника света state -> ray position и воткнуть разность в ноду normalize). Получится градиент, который можно заремапить и воткнуть в thin film ноду. Ещё как вариант можно поиграть с этим coating - там в разные места можно втыкать градиенты, возможно какая-то из комбинаций подойдёт

@@Kdoumiumi В принципе это не срочно, я с этой задачей по работе столкнулся. Если будет время и желание покопайся. Я сам просто с нодовой системой недавно познакомился. Принцип понятен, а вот все возможности - пока не разобрался. В любом случае, спасибо тебе огромное, твоя нода Тонкой Пленки очень пригодилась ))

you need to work in old shader graph, that looks like xpresso, thats basically all

Hi, thank you for this great preset and tutorial! I have a problem installing it on my C4D R26. I can put it into xpresso node but don't know how to export this preset to the redshift node editor to make it a part of the chain. Does anyone has solution?

He explains it in the tutorial. Shift+C search for Xpresso and click Edit click Load and drag the file there

Actually it do the job for organic surfaces but fail for flat ones. Thin Film shader in Cinema 4D can map the reflection colors quite good, not perfect but aceptable.

I am on 3.0.24 and it works perfectly, though if you are using area lights, you might wanna refresh the render view or trigger the bucket mode if it does not show up in the render view.

@@karpikvisuals the thin film node conect to output, The outputnode will become yellow, feedback display material is not valid. renderviewer material is pure red.my c4d is R21.207
