Thanks for the recommendation. That was the very first solo I ever figured out by ear but it was the studio version.

If you want to get the sound from the original version ( skynyrds first ) / just tune all your strings down flat.

I don't know for sure but Ed was usually on his strat... And to me this definitely sounds like a humbucker lead. And Gary wrote the song so I figure it's Gary. Plus it's his style of Lead for sure
