Hey K & J the landlord should be paying for the hotels knowing you guys can’t stay in a hot ssa home smh it’s the landlord responsibility to get a new ac unit . Waiting two to two and half weeks is insane. Drink a lot of water and cold showers.

Your landlord is 1000% responsible! I’m so sorry, the heat is brutal and it’s hard to not have AC. 🥵 Stay safe and go after your landlord for that if they will not fix it, you’re still paying rent, you’re paying for hotels, not okay!

Do you guys have fans? If not, get some fans and run them with the airconditioners and help blow the air around. It might help. Also, if you put them both in your bedroom and close the door with fans running, it may cool down a smaller space faster.

Hey K&J you should put the portable units into your bedroom or a small room and close the doors to allow the cool area to stay in the room . Also I would get a large fan and have it run in the room so it will help circulate the cool air around the room. Hope the parts come sooner to help repair the central AC sooner. Hang in there it is a hot summer .

😊❤😊 If you guys have 2 window units down stairs. Make sure to close off doors not needed open. If yall have ceiling fans turn blade to high to move cold air. Bedroom turn ac on high. Use table top fan at foot of bed to keep cool. Its 105° outside here in South Georgia and it keeps my bedroom cool at night im under cover it gets cold. So make sure ac is on coldest setting.

You need a unit in each room and you need to close the doors to the extra rooms upstairs, cover all of your windows with dark blankets to keep the sun rays out. Your home will cool down.

Maybe move to a smaller place? 2 story house for 2 people?

You need oscillating fans to have for in front of the ac units to help pull the cool air out into the room so UT does cool off better gid bless you both and good luck in the heat it's not fun

Maybe something like the Hessaire cooling fans that you add some ice to and keep infront of an open window will help

Next time Contact the Better Business Bureau and write a detailed report of every thing. By law the rental property has to respond by like 10 days.

I haves a big house, I understand 100% but what I do is I have AC on the windows and I have portable big fans on the floor and I turn it on to let the cool air rotate all over the house and it feels good. Is a lot of electricity but it’s summer and we don’t have a choice. Hope ya fix the situation ❤

I got 5 kids plus one on the way, owned home we cannot afford to pay for our unit to be fixed it would be well over 1000 dollars and neither of us have that right now! We are sweating excessively and it's extremely hot everyday, my kids have adapted to it to a sense, because there's not we can do! We have fans but most of the time the fans blow hot air in window because it's over 100 degrees here....I'm pretty stressed over it but again nothing we can do right now! Just pray for us yall! 🙏

Yea those portable units are originally designed for a smaller area's of your home like a bedroom or a living room area unfortunately the air doesn't travel through the whole house I've had one for about 2yrs in a apartment giving to me by the complex management and it sucked yall would need window units depending on the size of your home 10k to 15k BTU's window unit's that will help keep you comfortable instead of those portable units seriously

If you can’t afford to get an attorney, go to the clerk of courts at your local courthouse and tell them you want to escrow your rent. Then you fill out an escrow notice form and attach a copy of a letter as to why you will not be giving them rent until your issue is fixed. By putting money into escrow you aren’t violating your lease and still paying rent while also letting the landlord know they won’t get their money until your living situation is habitable.

I’m in Florida and unfortunately u deal with it until it gets fixed..I’ve never heard of why it is taking that much time..

Learn about your tenet's right in your state, it is your landlord duty to fix it, they ahould have insurance on the house for this reason. Something don't sound right about all this, not on your part but the landlord. But the have fair housing rights for us renters that need help, call around and see what you can do.

The house that you're currently renting is the landlord's responsibility for repairs, which is the air conditioning. They are obligated per lease agreement to maintain the integrity of the unit so that its functional and up to code. You guys could die in there from the heat. You're not a fault because it just conked out. It's not like you broke a window, so the bearer of responsibility is the owner of the property. The portable air conditioning isn't effective because they only cool small spaces like a specific room, not a large square foot house. You can look into an extended stay hotel in the interim as you sort it out.

Get a couple of fans to put in front of the ac. That what we did. It helps and you can sleep.

Mines went out around the same time your did not I didn't hear you say anything about the blower. did he check the blower. My blower stop working so he replaced it and my landlord paid for it like he passed to.
