I started playing in 2004 before the grand exchange was introduced. Back in the day, the general stores in Lumbridge, Falador, Varrock and Al Kharid were almost always filled with players. Not only did we have to wait for an slot to become free before we could sell our gear, but the feeling of excitement we felt when a player sold a high tier weapon or armour (primarily mithril and adamant) was incredible.

When the teacher walked down to check on us , you could see each screen minimizing as she walked down the isle lmao. the computers were so shitty tho, it would freeze sometimes when trying to minimize . so she would catch those people and would get kicked out of the lab lol

This isn't even stuff that's that old. Free trade being removed? I remember back in the day when we didn't have the GE or any price checker and you just had to know values, and had to barter on prices as nothing was set in stone.

RS was something else when we were kids. It literally taught us some important life lessons. I’m not a native English speaker, but having to communicate in English in order to trade or get information made it easy. Even more important, RS told us when something is too good to be true, and learned us a thing or two about the extent a scammer will go trough just to take your shit. At the same time it taught us most people are actually good, and will help you if you ask for it. Valuable stuff.

Anyone remember the lending system that was introduced where you could lend an item to a player for so many hours. Made so much money off having a godsword back then...

I remember when me and my family went to Tunisia way back before the civil war there (yes there actually was a civil war/revolution in 2010), and me and my older brother spent the whole vacation renting the hotel's computers just to log onto our runescape accounts, and wow was it one of the best vacations ever. Two kids far, far away from any trouble in real life in some country we'd never been to, spending the whole week not in reality, but just living our virtual best lives.

I just love how osrs has become so popular they're not just doing "basic maintenance" and membership only but expanding the game with huge amounts of content and working harder than ever to remove bots and rulebreakers. It makes me so happy.

I remember when I started playing Runescape the game used to have classes. When you created your account you got to choose a class for your character. The classes I remember were: Warrior, Ranger, Wizard, Adventurer, and Miner (there may have been a few more). The classes were pretty pointless though, they only affected which items you started with and gave you a few levels in certain skills for free iirc.

Given that OSRS is "2007" anything before that year should have been in this video. Its funny how I'm even too old to not even know what only "old" rs players will remember. Try wilderness without a ditch, no ge, prayers up to protect melee, skills up to farming, when N0valyfe was #1 over Zezima for some days when construction came out. When The Old Nite died, when a classic scam was changing 100k to 10004, "Drop parties" where the leader would just sprint inside wilderness (with no ditch) and have pkers kill you, making you trade beside a tree so you moved inside the wildy, the D chain being the most expensive combat item, before skill capes, etc. etc.

I started playing Runescape when RS2 came out and you could still play classic. I can remember a time before the GE, Slayer, Farming, etc. I remember the golden age of pure PKing, those were the days.

I used to play from 2004-2008, and I wasn't a member back then. I had no idea about how large the world was. I always thought my friend, who was a member, was only able to go to one or two small areas that I couldn't. Like an extra town or something. I also had no idea monsters could level in the hundreds, or that gear went better than Dragon. Seeing someone with Rune armour back then was amazing. Seeing someone with a Dragon med helm for the first time was like seeing a god, and everyone would follow him and compliment him. Also, buying gf, 10 gp.

Or when everyone trained at the white knights in fally or trained at lesser demonds and we use to fish lobs at the peir before fighting. 04 player here. Played all the way to EOC. Saw the falador massacre, sold black arm shield halves for 500gp ea when I first started playing. I’ll never forget discovering the drop glitch for having multiple shield halves in my inv. I surely wasn’t the first to figure it out, but man did I work hard selling those shields. Was a giant noob for training combat though.

Wow, I quit YEARS before any of this happened, except for the transitions from Classic to Runescape 2. Farming came out as I was going into high school and playing less and less. But now I'm BACK! :D

I hope they have a toggle for the '06 menus, graphics and textures someday, the latter two being on whatever it is they can. I still miss the original Lesser Demons a lot and the original stone trail on certain areas is so cool.

I can still remember the introduction of the original GE and still hate the new one to this day. It killed player interaction overnight _two times_ People used to actually go to the stores. Now everyone is just hanging around the GE trading and flipping or just buying shit to train easily. a good chunk of the warm feelings died those two days. Sadly the polls were raided with community with many newer players that have only been around the GE times.

The thing that sucks about old school is that you have to restart your character :/

Shit man try playing back in 2001 , when: - Rune armour hadn't been released nor the Dragon quest - The struggle street when banks only allowed you to store money and no items, so you would have to open multiple browsers, create a mule account to carry your items - Blurose13x being the first lvl 99 smithing - My brother was the 4th to be lvl 81 cooking, which was huge at the time since no one could perfectly cook lobsters - Zezima being the 2nd to lvl 99 smithing, and when Rune2h first came out because he was literally the only one making them for people in the entire game - Having no wilderness and the whole map being PK zone (which can be switched off, but only like 3 chances to go back and forth) Memories, shieet

I remember when Zammy and Sara rune sets were 1M+. The struggle of no GE. Back then when Green Hween mask were 15M-25M. The Addition of the "Wildy ditch" to prevent luring. Gravestones. When Farming and Hunter was added and I skilled them non-stop. lol. Good times.. I started in 2004. Edit: I remember when Runecrafting was released too sometime in late 2004.

Myself, my mom, and my stepdad. My stepdad worked from home and he had a lvl 126 with almost all 99’s. He was PISSED when Construction was introduced. I didn’t mind because it was a new skill to grind. You’re talking old school Runescape in this video and yet you’re still years ahead of when I started playing in the early millennium. I'm so happy that there is a osrs. I remember playing when I was like 10 or 11 everyday on summer break while being stick at work with my father. It brings back those memories for me. I had to make a new account t. But it was totally worth it. I'm now 24 and atleast play twice a week with no shame. Lol

Boom, I was on an account named Poop98 and he had fking 9 HP. I was so confused, my friends saw it too and thought it was ridiculous! Thanks for explaining ! Thats so awesome!

I started playing RuneScape back in 2005...played at the library for 1 hour a day. Played pretty consistently with all of my friends up until like 2011. (Once evolution of combat came out I quit, then when old-school happened I jumped on to that). Used to be great.

I remember Spirit Trees and always getting excited trying to kill one for that chance of a rune axe drop ;) Started playing in 2004. I was hopelessly hooked. Loved the game so much. Still have my Yoyo too :)

I Remember trading a full inv from my goblin and cow trip for a antidragon shield. Never saw it before and I was so proud lmao xD Or grinding hours mining rune essence for somebody that was merching it. But for me the 25k for 1000 essence were alot of money haha

I really wish more players got to to play this game in classic when lumbirdge was the biggest community hub. A never ending amount of players trading/dueling all day long. Mostly with no stakes involved or just random items for the hell of it. Almost no levels gained from the lot of us, but quite a bit of memories.

I remember being 10 years old and orchestrating 100+ people at a time in the deep wild clan fights or by the hill giants. I always said I was older so nobody could ever question my leadership . I loved forming strategies like the Death Dot , bait/ambush attacks, level 3 scout account on my secondary browser to also loot and assist on ambush . This game was special and brings out your creativity and teaches you many life lessons 🤣💪

The resizable screen one hits hard. I started playing 11 years ago, quit for a few years (because I was a kid who switched interests often), came back not too long ago, and was still playing on the tiny screen until my brother walked by and said "Why are you playing it like that? Your screen's bothering me, you know you can make it bigger?" Then I just sat there like an idiot trying to remember if that option was always available 😂
