You almost made me miss my hometown! I'm glad to see people can appreciate it like I never could. My heart has always belonged to Savannah, but I can't deny Albany was my first home!

Honestly when we lived down there in 2014 we so badly wanted to move back up to Atlanta. But every once in awhile when we go down there to visit family, we miss it. More Lee county than Albany but still. We definitely missed the rent!

I remember Radium Springs in it's glory day. The casino was a beautiful building. The spring at one time was open to public swimming. My mother is 86 years old and remembers going there as a child to swim. Sadly Radium has changed so much between the tornado and flooding. In the video i noticed the water color, the Flint has backed up into it, normally the water is a crystal blue color and very cold .When the water goes back down it'll clear up. Radium water is fed by a artesian well. Lot of memories at Radium Springs 🥰❤️☀️😃🍀

were places in Albany that if you lived there you were banned from donating blood because of the rate of hepatitis and AIDS was so high. I lived there in mid 2000s and everything east of slappy blvd ran on food stamps and crack. Everyone ate at various churches and the Mission and homeless shelters and Salvation Army and sold thier SSI Check and food stamps for crack. I heard from a female prostitute who was my neighbor that now it's also methamphetamine and all the males are gay now. ALL the males I knew then at least-- and a lot of people I knew were murdered. Wonderful place

I remember the Mars Company. You would drive by and always smell chocolate and roasting peanuts. P&G were also there. That was one of the locations where they made paper towels, baby disposable diapers and tp. When I left Tommy Coleman was the mayor. Who is there now? Hope Albany is still growing.

Honestly jobs are hard to find but possible, we recommend going to a company named manpower for work if you don’t have a job already. Like any city there are it’s good areas and it’s bad areas but the good outweighs the bad. There are plenty of great locally owned restaurants and a mall for shopping. Albany is a good city don’t let no one tell you otherwise!

Is the Navel Air Station in Albany still there? My son was born there in March 1971 (long time ago) When my husband was in the Navy, we were stationed there. It was long ago, but I still remember Chehaw Park, the zoo & other places. We fished in the Flint river a lot, etc. I have a lot of great memories from Albany. I even remember my address (520 Pine Apt. #16) How's that for a 50 year old memory??
