-Borough market is an excellent place for food (it's a food market if you're not familiar), they have a website for opening times. -Wanted to add to your recommendation of Greenwich park that it has a great view of Canary Wharf from afar and is generally a nice park -There's a decent market in Portabello Road at certain times -Going to the top of The Shard really is awesome and a little cheaper if you book in advance (note that lunch time is often busy) -There's a restaurant that looks to have a cool view at the top of The Gherkin -Covent Garden often has things going on there and loads of shops including a really cool market, there's stuff nearby too (comic book shop, international sweets shop, etc). I think there's a railway museum or something along those lines there too. Awesome christmas decorations there at the right time of year as well -Excel often has conventions going on (there's about two comicons that happen there for example) -Going to a play at the Globe Theatre is a really cool experience, it felt very authentic when I went a few years back That's all I can think of at the top of my head, as I say, there's always something going on in London

My infrastructure recommendation - and I know this is something you've done, Tom, because you've posted a GIF of yourself there, though I was almost disappointed that it was a GIF rather than a longer video - is the ULTra personal rapid transit ("podcar") system at Terminal Five in Heathrow. It's a series of automated driverless taxi-like vehicles. It's simultaneously incredibly space-age and incredibly mundane and ordinary, which makes it even better.

The Docklands Museum is free and you can get to it using the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) which I always find quite a fun way to travel. More like a monorail in the theme park called London. There is a lot of free stuff in London, but probably obvious - Natural History Museum and Science Museum are next door to each other but both free. Go early in the morning to avoid queues. For an interesting pub, try the Argyll Arms near Oxford Circus - built in 1742, but with some Victorian additions, it is quite an interesting place to go for a drink!

A few suggestions in the area near the Sir John Soane's Museum: - The other side of Lincoln's Inn Fields is the Hunterian Museum. Great for body parts in jars and other things on the history of surgery. - The Inns of Court - Grey's Inn, Lincoln's Inn, Inner Temple and Middle Temple are worth looking around. They're surprisingly hidden away. Particularly Inner Temple and Middle Temple, which you can get to off the Strand/Fleet Street or Embankment. This is where barristers used to be trained and where many Chambers are. The Temple Church is a really interesting church dating back to the Crusades. You have to pay to go in, but it's impressive from the outside too. - Royal Courts of Justice. Just go in and sit in a case for a little while! Although this may be more interesting for prospective law students, I realise. - St Clement Danes - the RAF Church. It's got some interesting stuff about the RAF in there. Outside there's an infamous statue of Bomber Harris. If you're near the Barbican, go to Postman's Park, which is a couple of minutes away. There's an interesting memorial set up to people who sacrificed their lives to save others, which is quite poignant. Also, they didn't mention that the Museum of London is at the Barbican - perhaps because it's a bit more well-known. If you find brutalist architecture interesting and you're near Russell Square (perhaps you've just been visiting the British Museum), have a look at the Brunswick Centre. It's also right next to the Foundling Museum - a museum about a home for abandoned children. If you're here in summer and it's actually hot, go to a lido or a swimming pond! There are several, but to name a few: Serpentine (Hyde Park), Hampstead Pools, Parliament Hill Lido and Richmond Lido.

I stayed in a youth hostel in London and it was right near an art gallery, a health food restaurant and an artisan bakers, so I would reccomend staying somewhere that is on a back road or something, well worth it.

I (last year) went on the Hidden London tour of Aldwych/Strand (another disused station) and it’s really cool. That train in Tom’s photo is the last unrefurbished Mk1 1972 stock train (it’s only 4 carriages long) and is one of the last trains anywhere on the tube that has a section in the driving motor carriages for the guard’s door controls.

The barbican has a conservatory on the top floor with lots of nice plants and a fish and turtle pond which is open for free some bank holidays and Sundays. You can also have afternoon tea there but it is quite ££££.

I tried so hard to find an abandoned tunnel tour while I was in London... asked directions, googled, asked the tourist information center, walked just about the length and width of the city center, but didn't find anything. So thanks for the link! If England somehow manages not to explode and sink into the ocean, it might be of use to me yet ^_^ On a side note, I adored the RAF museum. Only regret I have is not taking more pictures there.

Not sure, being a northener, whether the Regency Cafe is considered famous or not. If not, then I would say that's the biggest food recommendation. The original Twining's Tea Shop in Temple is also a really cool place to visit if you happen to be a fan of the Great British Beverage (And it's near the temple, St. Clement's and the Royal Courts of Justice, so overall a good visit). There's my contribution to the forum that this comments section has become!

If you enjoyed the Crystal Maze, you might also enjoy Boda Borg if you're ever in Sweden or near Boston, MA. It's a combination of physical and mental challenge rooms that sounds rather similar to what you're talking about.

If you need something to do in London I recommend Sky Garden. It is a excellent view. You just book it and it’s completely free. It’s at the top of a skyscraper and you can see everything in London!! It’s just opposite the Shard. I’d highly recommend it. Also if you want food I recommend Pizza Union. It’s a very good pizza place near Liverpool Street tube station (5 min walk) and it’s cheap and it’s the best pizza in London. Even the Italians believe so!

I'll have to go to that The Crystal Maze re-creation. I've always regretted not going to the one in Blackpool while it was open. Just had a look on the page for The Crystal Maze linked above and there's also a Knightmare re-creation at the Southbank Centre for the next few months.

I'm always impressed how well you guys (often Tom) will know enough about American culture so that when you're talking about something thoroughly British, we can still relate to it. Either that or our stuff is shouted out so hard that you can't help but know about it, in which case I apologize. (Specifically referencing Legends of the Hidden Temple here.)

Go to Barking - it's officially London, but really Essex. Strange place, nice churchyard. You'll never go there again. But down the road (by 368 bus) is Dagenham - home of Ford and Becontree, the biggest council housing estate in Europe (or it was).
