The best way to get to and from Taronga is to catch the ferry from Circular Quay (15min) & then take the bus to the top entrance. Then you walk down the hill looking at the animals and exit from the lower entrance, back to the ferry. Much better than going by car.

You beat me to making similar comments. The ferry is by far the best way to get to the Zoo, with a public bus at the bottom of the list.
