My dad had a wren nest for several years in his workshop. She decided that his box of nails was exactly the right size for her nest. Dad picked it up to get some nails and there was this tiny bird looking back at him, utterly fearless.

I have a female that’s been around my house for five years now as she has had her nest from the back deck to the front porch to my old well pump in the flower bed as she is a beautiful little stinker sometimes because when ever I’m out she always finds me an will sit in the trees or on the deck railing an chat up a storm, it’s funny how she is with me but not my hubby. Lol I’ve named her Rose as she loves eating the little green bugs off my rosé bushes for me ☺️ My friend stopped by an my hubby told her I was out back chatting with Rose and she goes who’s Rose! 😳😆🤣 Ha Ha

I have a family of Carolina wrens nesting in a hanging resin birdhouse shaped like a fire helmet (I’m a volunteer), and I’ve had them nesting in other parts of my backyard over the years. Sometimes they take over a bluebird house, sometimes they nest in one of the hanging birdhouses, and one memorable year they chose a wooden flower box I had under my potting table on the deck. I hadn’t even known they were there until I was planting spring flowers in the pots on my deck and several juvenile wrens came hopping right up to me and watched what I was doing. Those cute little guys had absolutely no fear!

Yes, the wren and the meadowlark are my two favorite birds. What beautiful songs they both have. We usually get a nesting pair of wrens each spring, 😊 but then they leave. 😕 And the meadowlark I only hear when I am on back roads traveling in Nebraska. They are always on the fences in extremely wide open places. Such an amazing clarity to their song. It seems it mirrors the expansiveness around them.

We’ve had a nesting pair near our house for over 50 years since the offspring tends to come back to its original nesting place year after year. Thank you for this. I had a wren build a next in my Christmas cactus on the front porch. I was blessed to see all 5 eggs leave the nest from my window, So sweet. A pair of wrens returned this May to the same cactus plant, started busily building their nest. So sad to say that I made the mistake of moving the plant about an inch. It startled the bird sitting very close by, and they haven’t returned since. Makes my heart so sad that I did this…

Love Wrens. Got a bunch of them around my place. They nest all over the place. One has a nest now in a small bucket on my back porch. Another poor little guy tried to make a nest on the back eave of my new chicken coop but the ledge wouldn't hold the material. There was enough moss laying on the ground to fill at least a 13 gallon trash can. I'm going to add a block that will fix that for them today when I'm there to add another roosting bar in the coop. Carolina Wrens we have here in north Georgia. Always cheers me up to watch them point their beaks to the heavens and sing to the Angels! Such a big voice from such a tiny little bird!

Where I live in North Carolina (U.S.A.) we have Carolina Wrens. I have been feeding all my wild backyard birds for over 20 years now. I always like to see my little Carolina Wrens. I have one Wren that almost every day sits on my BBQ grill and melodiously sings so beautifully. I have even taken video of him singing. A few weeks ago some Carolina Wrens found their way into my husbands workshop. They built a nest. We thought they only had one baby in the workshop. But, the next day I actually discovered four fledglings trying to find their way out of the workshop. So, I helped all the babies get out of the building. I don't know if they all survived once they got out, but at least they had a chance (once they got out of the building). But, every day I enjoy seeing my Wrens fly to the bird feeder for roasted unsalted peanut chips...which they love!!! Then they fly onto my back deck to break up the peanut chip and eat it. They truly are such adorable little birds...even when I walk past them and they loudly scold me...I still love them!

We have 2 nest boxes in the back yard. Either chickadees or house wrens use them each summer. Love both but the chickadees will always be my favorite, but not by much. We also have 5 feeders and one suet station all with different seeds. Seems like sunflower hearts are preferred by gold and house finches. When chickadee moms and/or dads bring their chicks to show them where to get lunch, and they were born and raised in our nest box it can’t get any better. So much joy and happiness. Only 30 years ago we didn’t even notice but holy smokes who knew? It’s an older people thing so thank you very much ! In mid May, we live in south central Minnesota, the summer migration is in full swing. They began stopping about 5 years ago and it’s been an annual event. Goldfinches, indigo buntings, rose breasted grosbeaks, Baltimore orioles, white throated and white crowned and Harris sparrows. Just in May we put out orange halves and grape jelly for the orioles. For 2-5 days it’s a mad house but the highlight of our bird watching for the entire year. Some birds make one visit and gone. The first year I had my bird book out to try to identify about half a dozen of mid size yellow birds with thick beaks. Ground feeders they were and “Holy cow!” Evening Grosbeaks and what a surprise. They’ve never returned. The house wrens eat insects and little green caterpillars and sing, sing, sing. Yep birds are for us old timers, and we’ll keep them.

the song of a canyon wren in southwestern canyons is forever in my memory, such a sweet song, a wren knocked itself out on my window and i carfully put it in my flowers it recovered and now for years comes back and sings to me in the morning

You can get stickers of bird silhouettes to put on your windows. Dramatically reduces the bird strikes. Had mine over ten years.

A lot of noise from a little bird. Cheers Liam, the St Kilda wren is an interesting guy, totally endemic to the island and is a little larger than its mainland cousins 😊

@@angr3819 glad to be of help, it really is an amazing place, I’ve always dreamed of getting there one day. It also has one of the largest breeding colonies of northern gannets in the world not to mention the puffins and fulmars. Also there is an endemic field mouse which is also larger than the mainland mice, the Soay sheep as well, quite an incredible place really

Loved your video Liam. What a beautiful song the wren has. That male would have had to work his tail off with four families to support Thank you very much for a great informative video ❤❤

I have wrens nesting in my garden most years. Their nests are really lovely and are usually nestled in the Ivy around my cherry tree but have even been inside my previous years runner bean canes.

I live in Texas and it sure gets hot here, one time my pet wren took a bath in a melted ice cube in the palm of my hand which l held close to my body and it had such a good time doing it. As tiny as they are it sure amazes me how smart they are.
