In this video we are going to focus on The O’Jays then and now. The O'Jays are an American R&B group from Canton, Ohio, formed in 1958 while its members were attending Canton McKinley High School. Originally known as The Mascots, and then The Triumphs, the friends began recording with "Miracles" in 1961, which was a moderate hit in the Cleveland area. Its members were Eddie Levert, Walter Lee Williams, William Powell, Bobby Massey, Sammy Strain and Bill Isles.

Eddie is a "standout" among singers and he sings from his heart. Walter is very talented. I had a brief conversation with him some years ago when The O'Jays performed at a casino and he is courteous - a real down to earth gentleman. Walter speaks eloquently. In my opinion Eddie and Walter can't be touched - they are both classy men. In fact all 3 singers are to be commended.

@@barbarayoung2053 true because Eric the last member gave me the biggest hug after l was upset when the O'jays were being honored in Harlem,New York one year.Something happened to their flight 🤔l did see Blue Magic,The Moments and The Manhattans and even the writer of most of their songs was there and talked but l was there to see the O'jays😘 and at the very end they arrived and did their thing and l slept real good that night because they showed up🥰❤️🖤💚thank you Eric, ALL of our Chocolate Brothas are a class act🥰❤️🖤💚🙏🏽❤️🖤💚 Blessings to everyone

Eddie does still look good. I can't figure out why he decided to grow that nasty white beard though, especially since he was always so smooth looking. Brothers donning white beards in your old age is not a good look in my humble opinion.

I lived near 'some' of these guys in the 70s. Edgehill off Adams, Los Angeles. One of my favorite groups too. The soundtrack of my life, 77!!!!

I am so glad I get a chance to see the ogs I have never seen The O'Jays and Frankie Beverly I was always working with Franklin Beverly because in New Orleans now I will get a chance to see them I am almost 70 years old go let me live this week this concert I will be there Martha's second I am sure going to go enjoy myself

Oh yes years ago the O Jays came to Baltimore to perform i got out my sit headed towards the stage security told me if i went any closer he would lock me up told him i love the O Jays but not that much to go to jail for 😁

Pretty even, enlightening video that, unfortunately, came up short for two reasons: (1) The pictures displayed were often not coordinated with the person the narrator was talking about at the time (2) the video does not elaborate enough on the contributions made by the people they feature: little mention is made of the songs they made with all four members and it gives the impression they did not record until they signed with Philadelphia International, no mention is made of the songs Walter Williams led with the group ("Forever Mine", "Brandy", "Used To Be My Girl", "Darling, Darling Baby", "Cry Together"), of the artists Bobby Massey worked with or the hits he produced after leaving The O'Jays (i.e. Ponderossa Twins + One and The Osmonds), or even the songs Dyke & The Blazers made famous ("Funky Broadway", "We Got More Soul", "Let A Woman Be A Woman"). Speaking of Dyke/Arlester Christian, it was interesting to discover that his group used to back The O'Jays.
