Great video! I like the fact you cover the negative sides of Dropshipping, Dropshipping is simply a way to reduce risk, some of the biggest businesses in the world use it, it’s all about how you do it and your intentions, if done wrong it can be bad for the consumer That’s why we as leaders have to teach the right way of doing it Because it’s truly a great opportunity in my opinion Stay safe everyone happily new year Make sure you watch Davies videos in full and subscribe ❤️👑

Hi Davie. I appreciate this a lot. I jumped in guns blazing into dropshipping. It's been 3 months. I did really well at the start, but the further I get into it, the more inefficient I find it to be. One thing I noticed with your channel is you know how to evoke emotion with argument, in phase I you evoked fear/dismay while talking about the cons of dropshipping, the ugly parts of the industry. And you pulled euphoria/hope towards the end talking about the positives of ecomm -> highlighting your argument for ecomm with appropriately invoking emotion using music and tonality, love it! Learned a lot, information and video creation!

I had a Shopify store that made over $25k in revenue within the first couple of days of me opening it. Shopify/Stripe considered it to be suspicious and "high-risk", so they shut down the store and banned me from the platform. They also froze payout for 120 days (not before taking their fee, of course). I can't view order details on the site nor can I offer customers refunds. Some are threatening lawsuits and others are review bombing me on Google and Facebook. I also have upcoming bills that I absolutely cannot afford to pay. It's been a complete nightmare.
@DavieFogarty
@DavieFogarty Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately this is a common case when dropshipping with Shopify as the platform. You are often putting yourself at risk as reviews become stricter. Unfortunately you'll need to continually focus on contacting support until you can get this case handled while managing your current customers expectations, even if it does result in a negative response.

So happy I found your channel. I'm 36 years old and not where I want to be in life and its time to make a change. I've been interested in drop shipping for years now and never had the guts to try. Your story is absolutely inspiring. I recently just had the motivation to try e-commerce/drop shipping, And I'm fully aware of the "gurus" selling a course or packages just like theirs those people in every industry ,but hearing you explain it really helped me understand what drop shipping is meant to be for, basically, for product testing or finding a good supplier. Once you find a good product and supplier then you focus on making a brand around that product with a few other products related to your main one. Last night I made a second Tik Tok account, just for finding other brands out there to see how they are doing it. I've been learning a lot from you and a few others on KZfaq these past few days and I really thank you. I know I still have a lot to learn but I'm excited to get started! I know it won't be easy but neither is working for someone else your whole life. Thanks again Davie! Can't wait to dig into your content more 🙏

This is a great video. Just wanted to say I honestly think Dropshipping is making it harder for newer people to get into ecom. I am currently fighting to have ad accounts, before I even finish creating them they are getting banned. I'm not dropshipping but it seems that companies like facebook and Microsoft have adjusted their algorithms to ban accounts if they even think you might be doing so. I don't even know what to do to try and get an ad account through these companies anymore. I purchase the products I want to sell in bulk and ship them myself yet I'm still being blocked from using these ad sites. I've contacted support and all they can say is create a new account and try again yet if you already were banned your website is on a blacklist and gets banned immediately again.

Good stuff. The attitude is what's really important. If it is seen as a phased logistics strategy to validate product-market fit, it is nothing more than clever business execution, never taking focus away from the customer, with remarkably liberal returns and refunds and the fastest shipping times possible even at the cost of contribution margin. Seen this way, it is nothing more than a detail in the execution, no different from your strategy around which ad platforms you use. So although you utilize dropshipping, you're not a 'dropshipping store'. People inflate what should just be a single detail in business execution into their whole identity - "I'm a dropshipper". That's where you go wrong.

@DavieFogarty
@DavieFogarty Жыл бұрын
It's not something you can quantify right down to a single digit. It's about understanding your product and niche and determining whether the audience that would relate to that product is too niche or not. Butterfly kids apparel would be extremely niche and often you'll find yourself working much harder to get the sale as opposed to something like the Oodie which targets a much wider audience.

Hey man Davie is 1000% right. I've been always looking to dropship and after months of trying I got pretty succesfull the last two months. I scaled a store to 20k but I had to cut off my store because I had to deal with a lot of charge backs, unhappy customers because they got a broken product and even when I tried my best to have the best possible customer service with dropshipping, I always felt bad and I stopped the store.. I am still dealing with chargebacks until this day... Looking back, the best thing I should've done before scaling was order stock and really build a brand around this product. But I wanted the quick cash... My advise would be. If you really want to start, build a brand from the go and save yourself massive headaches...

Please correct me if I'm wrong; as I understand it, the dropshipping model is a good way to test a product in the marketplace quickly and without the cash outlay. Also to generate additional cash to reinvest in 3PL wholesalers, ads and such. Not a long term solution, but a means to an end. Once the product niche has been established with the dropshipping, it's time to get into warehousing product, asap, for quick and responsive shipping and customer service....and less hassles with merchant account, shopify, et-al. Is my assertion correct, in broad brush terms? Also, thanks for sharing your insights and wisdom. Just subscribed!

I think dropshipping is the silver bullet for testing products, but eventually you have to actually make a brand and a business, or sell your shopify store for cash.

Really inspiring Davie! I've been researching dropshipping products for months. And i've built 3 shopify stores and made some videos but never pulled the trigger. Something always felt rather soulless, as you aptly described it. You've inspired me to dig deeper now and begin exploring some my own brand ideas! This whole process it really fun!

It's quite diffficult to do so unless you purchase the factory. Otherwise there's nothing stopping you from them making a profit by selling to multiple sellers.

So is shopify still useful to create a website to sell stock inventory from a 3pl, or is there better places to create your own brand website?
@DavieFogarty
@DavieFogarty Жыл бұрын
Shopify is used to house your digital store front as it is an eCommerce based platform. The inventory you are selling is dependent on whether you are buying in bulk and shipping it from a 3PL or using an overseas supplier to ship on your behalf.

Hey Dave, thanks for the video. I'm based in Australia and tried working with 3PL companies early on, but always got pushed back because I wasn't big enough. What are your suggestions to people who are not yet big enough to do business with 3PL? I thought about getting a bulk order on Alibaba to my home and just shipping the products myself from my garage until there's more scalability. Would love to hear your thoughts!

You're going to have to ship it yourself in that case if you aren't big enough!

Davie what do you think of print on demand as a business model? As this is seemingly impossible to use 3PL so it has to be a drop shipping model due to the customisation and personalisation involved . Any tips?

I use POD for my sales. Cons: It's a very saturated market. The profit margins are incredibly low compared to the sellable price. ( The price any customer would actually buy at) Most POD companies don't let you have a free test item. As well, the test item you get when you order, is often the only one they took the most care to get right. Then customers can often get lesser quality. It can also be hard to tell how colors will show up on selected items, and sometimes how well the alignment is based on the online apps. The production and shipping times vary from week to week and even day to day, especially holidays and even world events. So to accommodate that, you have to set your production time high like up to 7 days. International shipping is now more complicated with EU VAT IOSS number has to be in the front of package. Currently non are prepared for this yet. The pros: You don't have to do the physical work and buy the equipment and know how to print on items. The price you paid for print and ship is still writable expenses and all the legit good ones will let you print the transaction list.

Selling on Etsy, the sellable price of my hoodies are $30. Etsy takes $3-4 in fees/advertising. . Print and ship cost is $22 each. (Cheapest, fastest, yet quality US printer) So I average $4-5 per hoodie and shirt. It's a start. Not a get rich quick scheme, but a start.

Print on demand relies on you using the fulfilment platforms that offer it, but enables you to differentiate yourself and minimise competition in your chosen space.

I actually own profitable general dropshipping store where I sell products that I find on aliexpress myself. I've never spied on others, I choose products that I like and actually use myself. My prices are very low, few dollars above original prices, I go for a volume. I take pictures myself so I've never had any issues with advertising platforms. Aliexpress standard shipping is now closer to 10-16 days rather than 30+ days (atleast that's the case with my suppliers). And I'm talking about the shipping times for the US, CA, UK, and AU. Your shipping and refund policies must be very clear and detailed, your customer support must be excellent, and the most important thing of all, you must be completely transparent about your business model.
