This video was a long time coming and it took so much time to figure out how to even approach writing the script, let alone making it. But now it's out, done. As I said in the video this isn't a guide for building, but more of an exploration of my approach to building. I will do more videos exploring things in detail. Thank you for all the support!

Finally I'm done with the video. It took so long to make, but I'm really glad I spend the time making it. It's a video I've wanted to make for a long time. Even though it was a challange to also have to record my voice for the first time, I learned so much making the video. I'm working on several projects for my main work this month, which is great because of the money, but it also means that I have less time for KZfaq. I will continue with the Birchblossom Castle tutorial throughout august, and try to post regularly. I'm not exactly sure how many episodes there're left, but I'm guessing a couple. When I'm done with the aforementioned projects and the tutorial series, I will finally... FINALLY start a new build. I have a great idea in mind, which is shown in this video. I'm not telling you where. ;-) I'm grateful for all the support and the kind words. I have so many videos I want to make and I will also make tutorials for some of my other builds, people keep asking me about. All in due time. There're both new projects I want to make and loose ends that needs to be tied up, from some of my existing series. So the good thing is that there'll be content for a long time. Thank you all! -Six

Finally I found a video were my favorit Builder has a voice. I struggle with Roofs in Conquest Reforged. Now Im Building Japanese Asian Oriental and that is Hard. And I mean Hard. So for the Time being I use Tutorials to give me the Boost to do it later myself. The most complicated Design that I did until now is Osaka Castle. It took me 9 hours to complete. Without using World Edit or Litematica.

I built for 1,5 years now with a friend a Medieval City in a Theme 1485 - 1603 Tudor Era. And now I cant do it anymore. I even started to built my own City in Venican-Byzantine Style that is still in the Timeperiod of our Theme but with a other Medieval Building Style.

I build now far away from the Medieval World I built an Asian Cherry Blossom Garden with a Japanese Castle. Im Castle Builder. But still Round shapes are more like a Problem for me like Domes or even Pointy roofs. Despite all the Mods we placed into the Game to make building even easyer. I built with 20.800 Blocks Textures and Resourcces.

This video quite literally gave me goosebumps. My inspiration comes from seeing other builds in real life, games, or videos such as your own. I wanted to build a big castle project and was looking for inspiration on youtube, and then came across Emberheart Castle and The Monastary and now I look towards your builds for inspiration so this video was actually really helpful. I know you spend a lot of time on these builds and lemme just say, they're all absolutely amazing.❤ I found this amazing mountain out in the middle of the ice, and I said I wanted to build a castle there. This girl said she wanted too as well so I let her join, and then more people joined and I got a little discouraged because there were so many people and quite frankly, they were kinda ruining the landscape. She invited even more people and they took over my little mini-side projects, and now I decided to leave. I came back looking for inspiration again as I've found a new, and quite frankly better spot, and now I'm feeling inspired to build again. Thank you for all your hard work :D.

hey man, ive watched you for a long time now, and have even made multiple of your builds, all of which never cease to help to inspire me. i think that despite you saying that this video is not the only way to build but rather your own way, i believe that what you have said will honestly not only help me but also many others to try a completely new way of planning and building, something which for me i have definitely been needing. i believe that inspiration is the hardest step on any build and i can whole heartly say that you have helped me greatly in that respect. its for that reason, for lack of a better word to suit how much you have generally helped me, to simply say thank you. thank you for your own inspiration, thank you for your builds and tutorials and most importantly, thank you for your dedication to both your work and your community.

Thank you, Max. I'm really glad that my videos helped you build and give you inspiration. I agree that inspiration is really hard. Even though the way I described it in this video could sound a bit like inspiration just comes to me, it really doesn't. Sometimes there's nothing. A thing that helped me was to take notes and catalogue, each time there's some kind of inspiration. Cause I just know that I will forget it again. 😀 Anyway, thanks for the support and ask away if there's anything in the future.

Your creativity, your mind set - is so above what I've been exposed to. Even at my age, you have my mind thinking, admiring, dissecting shapes I see, pictures of ancient buildings - old terribly damaged buildings - I start seeing layers that are no longer there, I wonder - what did this building represent - a person's livelihood? their creativity? Some people seem to just reach out with their hands and there it is - just so fast. Others, stand back and look - building one level, one piece at a time. I'm not very good at expressing my thoughts. But you have me thinking! I so appreciate that. I am going to send this video name/link to three of my grandsons. I really hope they take the time to see what has caught my attention. My oldest grandson, Alex - he has high functioning Aspergers. I don't think he has realized what he really wants to do. (he is in his late 20's) His father, my son - had a mind - oh my - but he played (he wasn't serious) but he could do so much. He and an older friend of his actually, I am pretty sure, were working on one of the first internets... I know that he probably was one of the first people to record from a remote control "vehicle" from in the air. He had two remote control helicopters - he attached cameras to them. He then was able to watch on his computer monitor what his helicopters were filming. He would send me pictures of buildings and land that he had flown his helicopters over and filmed. I was so excited. To me, this was imaginary - not real! He played games on his computer that I found fun to just watch because of the architecture, the landscape. He did blueprints for stick built and log homes in Utah. He would help them design their home and then build the blueprint. He would take me out on his motorcycle and show me the finished homes. One was so fantastic. In the center (or close to) of the log cabin was a trunk that he and I could barely touch the tips of our fingers to each other. He on one side, me on the other. There were steps close by - and included in the supports were animals carved from the wood. Not separate but part of. Limbs were left on support beams, and they reached out to certain parts of the build. That was so much fun! He never got to see Minecraft. Oh, but he would have spent most of his time on Minecraft. And if he could see the I Phones we use now. I don't know if I want to laugh or cry - maybe a mix of the two. Thinking about his sheer joy of just those two changes in the world he loved. Alex has some of his dad's excitement about architecture and computers. He built computers - I've not found a computer (even with all the attachments and software) that can function as fast and as correctly as the ones he built for us. The other two grandsons are my daughter's boys. Her oldest will be training to be an engineer (aerospace or manufacturing). His grandfather is a retired manufacturing engineer. He graduated from college but had no training in engineering. It just came natural to him. And a new manager/supervisor at his place of employment helped him to be accepted as their manufacturing engineer. He retired from that just a few years back. Our youngest son had been accepted into a college to become an architect. He assisted his brother with doing the plans/details for his clients. They planned to enlarge my older son's businesses and no telling what they would have accomplished. The youngest of my daughter's sons, he loves gaming. He plays Minecraft. He had stepped away from MC for several years but has now gone back to playing it some. I am excited to hear what they think!!!! Thank you so much. I am so glad you decided to do videos. Your voice is very quiet - but easy to hear. Again, I think you come from a world much outside mine. But it is awesome to be able to listen to and watch your videos. Again, the great grandma means it with all her heart when she says, "Thank you Sir!" Thank you so much! God Bless you for adding such wonder and excitement and beauty into our lives.

Thank you, truly. I'm so glad you had this reaction. Remember that a people usually show the finished product and not the errors made along the way. There a book about famous photographers called "Magnum Contact Sheets" and it shows all the photos they had to take before getting the final one right. It really helped me see the creative process in a different way. Now, some of my builds are more spontanious, but a lot of them take time to design and a lot of designs are abandoned. So it you ever feel like the building you're working on sucks, remember that I and all other builders have had a similar experience. Probably many times. 🙂

So the algorithm probably didn't know what to do with it. But that's okay. I wanted to make the video either way and it taught me a lot about the editing process, voice recording, writing a script etc. But I definitely hope that people will watch it going forward. wow, really good design philosophy. it is exactly how i work, grids, columns, spacing. i loved sketchup for using components or modules. the limitations of minecraft are good in a way because otherwise i get overwhelmed with ideas, but i dont like the lack of curves. and i do think it is way too static. like when people do dragons, but they only float there and look like blocks, sad. your inspiration for designs always inspires me as well, i love the tall and voluminous buildings, and the perfect amount of detail you use. all of your examples just hit straight to my heart.

Thank you, I'm really glad that it resonated with you. It is difficult because sometimes the "blocky" design inevitable and it's not like it's a bad thing. I do think other builders make awesome builds even though they build different than I do, but when it comes to how I build myself, I do have particular preferences as stated in the video. 😀

Yeah, I strongly agree with advice to study real architecture. For thousands of years millions of ideas were tested in practice resulting with knowledge about physics and beauty. I agree that it's important to focus on physical integrity of a building even if it's a fantasy world where gravity don't affect blocks. I feel like the build is not immersive if there is too much mass on not enough support. However looking at real buildings you can get surprised how much weight can an arch or column bear. Thanks for the video!

WOW. I always thought you were just skilled at building, but you are VERY qualified to talk about your design principles. It makes sense now why your builds always seemed different from other creators, because of all the research you’ve done in architecture, design and even staging. And the quality of the videos are always top notch and give me an inner peace like no other creator does. Currently my no.1 favourite channel. And yes you did inspire me to build something.

Thank you for sharing your creative process. It's wonderful to see into the mind of an artist and the way they view the world and their creations. I was wondering, do you tend to sit down for long stretches of time and get lost in building or do you jump from one building to the next and back again when you are working on multiple projects? Or maybe a combination of both?

Thank you. I'm really glad you liked it. I thought that it was a neat way of tying filmaking with my building process, cause the straightforward or intuitive thing to do, is to compare my videomaking to filmmaking, but I twisted the narrative to have the filmmaking be a reference for my building approach. Anyway, thank you so much! 🙂

When people say they grew up with BdoubleO100 or TDM, I will proudly say that I grew up(even though I am 21 already) with SixWings. This sophisticated style of videos you put forth is unmatched. In my mind, this is what Minecraft videos were meant to be. You have absolutely nailed a spiritual satisfaction within me that I could ever have from a Minecraft KZfaq channel. @SixWings
@SixWings 10 ай бұрын
Thank you! It depends on what you're looking for in terms of architectual period and so on. A book I like is "A World History of Architecture" by Michael Fazio that gives a great introduction to every (or most) movements in architectural history, chronologically. It also has technical drawings and nice images. Some of the books in my video are old danish ones. The publisher, Taschen, has a series of books each focusing on specific time periodes. They were also in my video. But I'm not really up to date on the best books and there're so so many.

Scale is actually something that really bugs me in minecraft. Namely, it's all wrong: the rivers aren't wide or deep enough and the mountains are not tall enough to even be lower (~2 km) mountains. People's big builds usually end up being huge and off scale. They may look nice, but the moment you interact with them, at player scale, you realize they are all off.
@SixWings
@SixWings 6 ай бұрын
Yes, I definitely agree. It's a really difficult balance. You want the right amount of detail, but you also want the scale to match the player so to speak.
