While GPS cycling computer features can vary a lot between companies and models, visually they all tend to look the same. That is not the case with the CYCPLUS M2 GPS computer. With its 2.5” diameter round profile, the CYCPLUS M2 doesn’t look like any other cycling computer on the market. Although it looks unique, it’s still affordable with a current sales price of $69.99 from the $99.99 retail price. CYCPLUS has integrated a 1100 mAh battery with USB Type-C charging port for an impressive 30 hour runtime. The computer also features a Garmin quarter turn style mount which allows the GPS to be secured to a variety of mounts.
The CYCPLUS M2 GPS uses a standard Garmin quarter turn style mount molded directly into the base. This very common mount design allows the M2 to be used on a wide variety of third-party mounts rather than limiting the computer to proprietary mounts. CYCPLUS also includes a simple O-ring style handlebar mount. The plastic mount uses two o-rings that can be easily used on a handlebar or stem and works well to keep the GPS securely in place. As always, we highly recommend using an out-front mount such as the Topeak UTF mount for a cleaner mounting solution that places the GPS directly in front of the stem.
What sets the CYCPLUS M2 GPS apart from most computers on the market is the round profile which is rarely seen except for smaller Cateye computers or the uber-expensive Omata GPS computer. Unlike the $700 analog Omata, the CYCPLUS M2 retains a simple digital LCD display with grid layout. As with other CYCPLUS computers, the M2 has a plastic body with a glossy screen. Branding is limited to CYCPLUS on the top of the screen along with an orange accent ring and button label icons. Even though the plastic body and light weight of the M2 gives it a cheap feel, the computer has stood up well to daily use. The 2.5” diameter screen is also quite large which means the M2 is bigger than most GPS computers in terms of width...

I am an enormous fan of your channel, and can't wait to give thumb ups each review. Want to say where I'm coming from regarding something. I love the Chinese people and they have a great history of a highly refined and great culture. What they produce is great generally. I've been a vocal proponent of Taiwan since I was a boy when I looked at Chaing Kai-shek as a hero. However, the CCP is hell-bent on global domination, and they have little compassion on whoever stands in their way. Therefore, I go to great lengths at times to avoid products made in China. For instance, I use my Korean phone as a GPS and made my own thingamajig to mount it on my handlebars. I'd rather have a country than a bargain. Let's all practice a little pocketbook patriotism and support the home team whenever we can. Thanks and all the best.

Sadly that's true. There was a comment going around something like "Buy a Chinese car" you've just bought an RPG. Some truth in that as many large companies care CCP part owned and tax on goods sold are going towards military expansion. It's tough because tee like affordable products.

For an MTB rider (Single Track). What brand of cadence sensor do you recommend? Also, what power sensor do you recommend? Love your videos💪. Very detailed and fun to watch 😁
@TheSweetCyclists
@TheSweetCyclists Жыл бұрын
Nearly all cadence sensors are the same - you can mix and match from different brands and it should all work. I'd recommend just re-using the ones you already own or pick up a matching CYCPLUS one since they are cheap.

How well does the backlight perform? Can you run the backlight continuously? Great video!
@TheSweetCyclists
@TheSweetCyclists Жыл бұрын
The CYCPLUS M2 has a manual backlight (the bottom right button toggles it) so you control how long it is on (it's okay in terms of brightness - good in direct sun or in the dark but dim during mixed conditions). Higher-end computers have automatic backlights that are triggered through an ambient light sensor which is easier to use. With the M2 you'll have to remember to turn the backlight off during the day to help extend the battery life.

Hi, great video & thank you for taking time out to make it. I have the M1 computer that i am using on my Motorcycle, the computer works really well and i am very happy with it. As my Motorcycle speedo reads in KMH i needed something to show my speed in MPH to stop me getting caught out by speed cameras & mr plod. Can you please tell me how accurate the M1 computer is? because by my bad mathes the M1 is on average 4 MPH faster than my motorcycle speedo. Any help would be great and save me from getting a speeding ticket ; )
@TheSweetCyclists
@TheSweetCyclists Жыл бұрын
No problem. As far as accuracy, that would be hard to quantify without using a calibrated device. Comparing it directly to your motorcycle's speedo can be tricky and your speedo will also be slightly inaccurate. If you have any speed display signs on the road you could compare the GPS / speedo to that at different speeds.

It takes some time to get used to the "save ride" button sequence, most GPS computers have more intuitive ways to stop and save a ride. That said, the M2 is still one of the more unique looking computers on the market.

Hi, this m2 had GPS sensor for speed? I also saw got sell option for sensor cadence and speed sensor. Just to check why need 2 speed sensor? Or is it local speed sensor is better then GPS speed sensor?
@TheSweetCyclists
@TheSweetCyclists 2 жыл бұрын
Most GPS computers allow you to connect to speed sensors. They can be more accurate and you don't have to worry about GPS cutouts (tunnels / dense forests). Unless you have a lot of GPS issues or want to see your wheel speed on a trainer you don't need it.

@TheSweetCyclists

It's a manual back light so it will stay on. It isn't a particularly bright backlight though, so it is difficult to tell whether it is on or off in the sun.

Does this use a GPS for speed and odometer what do you need that sensor speed for the wheel
@TheSweetCyclists
@TheSweetCyclists Жыл бұрын
Most GPS computers like this use the built in GPS for speed / distance. For more accuracy (it also works in tunnels / cities where GPS can cut out) you can use a speed sensor + the correct wheel circumference to compute speed / distance.

So speed sensor is bought separately ? Which one should work best with this one?
@TheSweetCyclists
@TheSweetCyclists 12 күн бұрын
CYCPLUS does offer bundles with some of their GPS computers. These days you can use any speed / heart rate / cadence sensor with nearly any GPS so I would just shop around for what is available and affordable. There are some combo cadence / speed sensor (magnet on crank / rear wheel and single receiver) that are convenient for getting both data points together.

The problem With USB type charging is the product end up in the bin once the connection fails. I've just binned a working igpsport 618 as it can't charge after only a couple of years of use. I have an old cateye with a dedicated cradle connection to USB charger that's still going strong after 7 years. I'd consider this product it looks good but the USB phone charging design is putting me off
@TheSweetCyclists
@TheSweetCyclists 2 жыл бұрын
Good point. The charging port for any product can be it's weak point, you can't really keep using it if it fails. Personally we haven't had a USB port failure on GPS computer, only a taillight which was charged quite often though.

@TheSweetCyclists
@TheSweetCyclists 2 жыл бұрын
Good question, it's hard to capture on video. I think the M2 is a bit dimmer than the M1. It's still very usable, just doesn't have that high contrast you'll find on higher-end cycling computers or even the Bryton / Shanren models we've reviewed.

@@TheSweetCyclists Thank you. While that link didn't help I did find a video to help me figure out I lived in -7 timezone. This is new to me but I understand the simplicity. It's too bad there's not a site with a map and all the numbers to correspond to the different time zones. Edit: After writing this I zoomed into the map at the link you provided and did see the numbers at the bottom of the map. I found this link earlier but again, didn't see it had the numbers for each time zone. Maybe this will help another goofy person who missed it the first and second time (pun intended).
@TheSweetCyclists
@TheSweetCyclists 11 ай бұрын
@@SW-Video I was going to say - that link is a map with numbers. You also always google your location and find out GMT offset. Higher-end GPS computers have simpler interfaces or use the app to sync the time zone automatically so you normally don't have to worry about this step.

No, it should retain the odometer data even if you fully discharge it. A majority of computers have internal memory so they'll retain the data.

Yes. Most cycling computers are compatible with most modern speed / cadence sensors. You don't have to buy CYCPLUS specific sensors as long as your sensors have the ANT+ / Bluetooth connectivity which they usually do.

Sorry to hear that. The CYCPLUS should have a 1 year warranty, I would try their support email / social media contacts to get someone to help you. It's really not an expensive computer so even a free replacement would be better than negative publicity.
