the concept is great, but everything else is trash. the designs and backstories of the ghosts are amazing, but you see literally none of that in the film. lots of potential, but this movie lands flat on its face due to bad editing and a subpar story. the stories of the ghosts themselves would make a muuuuuuch better film/series edit: i say this as a fan of the movie in general. i loved it when i first saw the film, but the more i thought of the potential, the more i got annoyed at the over all product

The editing was like that one purpose. You can't see the ghosts unless you have the glasses on. It's disjointed because they can't technically be seen. So he didn't really know what was going on. The makeup effects are what sells it for me. I'd have to say the jackal, the witch and the torso were the ones that gave me chills and thrills

Glass actually has a very high melting point depending on it's composition. It can have a melting point of about 1400-1600 °C. However, there are glasses that will melt at lower temperatures but those are not common among commercial nor industrial usage. so it actually more likely that it will crack on rapid temperature changes.

"the Jackal" was indeed crazy. His story is sad. He was locked up in an insane asylum where he was biting the orderlies on a regular basis. So they put a cage around his head so he couldn't do that anymore. Then a fire burned the asylum down and when they tried to free him, he kept trying to hurt them, so they just left him.

Matthew Lillard is amazing in this. He’s amazing in pretty much everything he’s in, even if many of the stuff he’s in isn’t good, he’s usually a bright spot in an otherwise blah/bad film or show. Scream, SLC Punk, Thir13en Ghosts,l and Scooby-Doo was a great era for him. I hope he’ll have a big resurgence where one role truly puts him back on the map again. When he did The Decedents it seemed that would help him, but after that he’s been in a handful of projects that people seem to really enjoy.

One minor correction from the opening: Vincent Price wasn't in the original Thirteen Ghosts film, the main character was played by Donald Woods (it also featured Margaret Hamilton, the Wicked Witch of the West). Vincent Price DID star in House on Haunted Hill from the same director, William Castle, who loved to insert gimmicks to his films. He is actually a really cool guy to meet as well. An actor who is quite famous and extremely humble. I got to see him at a meet and greet years ago and he was extremely nice and took the time to talk with everyone in line for an autograph and a pic. Just an awesome dude!

This has residents evil vibe to me. Ghost looked like a teenager drawing. When i see Matthew lillards it reminds me of movies like 'Shes all that, The curve, SLC punk, Hackers and Without a paddle. Early 2000s was very flashy

Id LOVE to see you guys react to SERIAL MOM (1994) .... another Matthew Lillard movie that actually came out BEFORE scream. It was one of my favorite childhood campy slasher films. kind of ridiculous should make you guys laugh.

Some of the ghosts in this movie really scared me when I was a kid. The Jackal especially and The Juggernaut were the two that stayed with me. Even if some of the film is cheesy, I think they did the ghosts pretty well.

I remember that I took a friend to see this at the movie theater when it came out in 2001. I love it today just like I Ioved it back then. I thought it was a very unique and interesting film and there's plenty of action to be had in this one. I picked Thi13en Ghosts up on blu-ray along with Dracula 2000 at a store a couple of years ago.

The frenetic editing on this film really hurts it a lot. Very much a product of the early 2000's. She really clued in on it fast too. Love Lillard in this though.

Dark Castle started out as a studio to do fun, modernized remakes of the classic Castle horror movies. Castle was king of the gimmicks, and the glasses for 13 Ghosts were one such. I loved House on Haunted Hill, which I don't think you've done yet on your channel. It was creepy and fun at the same time, with a solid story. And Jeffrey Combs as a villain? Loved it. The next year was 13 Ghosts, and though a bit muddled at times, it was loads of fun too. Unfortunately they changed focus after that, and their next film, while a passable horror movie, was not a Castle remake. It was Ghost Ship, which while decent was nothing special. They continued to make original horror movies, and that I think was their downfall, because they lost focus on what the company was created to do. Another movie from a few years later that has the same vibe as HoHH or 13G - meaning a good horror movie that also has a lot of fun bits and humor in it - is a movie by James Gunn (later known for the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, the second Suicide Squad movie, and the Peacemaker TV show) called Slither. It stars Nathan Fillion of Firefly/Castle fame. I highly recommend both the House on Haunted Hill (1999) and Slither (2006).
