I recently built a PC with an MSI RTX 2070 Super on an MSI B460M Mortar Wifi motherboard with a Core i7-10700. It makes for a remarkably balanced system that still shreds at 1080p gaming, and can handle Fallout 4 with the "Next-Gen Update" on 1440p. Those Cyberpunk numbers are encouraging for when I get back around to it for another playthrough.

I actually just bought an rx 6600 (upgrading from a gtx 1660) and although i prefer nvidia, for $160 i just had to get the 6600 over an nvidia card

I also upgraded from a 1660 super to a rx 6600 my performance has been really bad in some games, I havd lots of stutter in fortnite dropping fps to 1 every 5 seconds unable to keep stable fps

@@gavizcool268yk what’s funny, i bought the 6600 also on my new build and didn’t realize fornite on performance mode is more optimized for nvidia cards so i sold my 6600 and bought a refurbished 2070 super on amazon for the same price at $200. Also Fortnite runs a lot smoother on the 2070 super

@ToastyBros I need your opinion, I have a Dell OptiPlex 790 that I bought 2 or 3 years ago, it runs pretty well. However, I am looking to update/upgrade it. The most important thing is the video card. I have an SSD for OS and a 1TB HDD for the applications I run. I am not a gamer, but I do play Ark, the new version, Ascended, is a bit of a hog so I am looking to see what I can do to play that game on this machine at a decent clip, playable FPS, etc. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You could pick up a used RTX 3060 with 12 GB of VRAM / 4 more GB's than a 2070 for the same price. Their 1/2 the age of 2070's and a tad faster.

@@Cynnister-vy5tl if you can score a 3060 12gb for around 180$, snatch that up in a heartbeat. I had one, and it's a solid card for 1440p. Just make sure to avoid the 3060 8gb. That card is cut down for both Vram and Cuda cores. It's hot garbage!

If you watch this KZfaq video by Gaming Bench....RTX 2070 vs RTX 3060 || 16 Games Tested || 2070 vs 3060....The 3060 outperforms the 2070 in most games. When VRAM usage reaches or exceeds the 2070's capacity, the 3060 can leave the 2070 far behind.

Also remember that the 2060 Super is basically within a few percentage points of the 2070 (if a game isn’t playable on a 2060 Super, it won’t be playable on the 2070) and I think a lot of people see 2060 super and think 2060 and under value the card.

Man, back in 21 I bought a used evga rtx 2070 from a friend of mine for 300 bucks, and back then it was a steal since that card used was over 500 bucks

Re used GPUs ... if you watch any of the expert GPU repair channels (my goto is Northwest Repair) you will understand that the risk of long-term issues is high. Shipping around a used GPU without OEM packaging/packing runs high risk of ripped pads for Core, Memory, or MOSFETs (the solder pads under the chips, NOT taking about thermal pads). You cant see the possible damage and/or if solder joints to the pads were weakened. So, always buy new whenever possible. PSA

Just sold my FE 2070 Super for 160 on Marketplace to someone needing a hefty upgrade on a budget. My Refurb 3070Ti was 350 from MicroCenter so I just wanted to recoup some of the cost. I feel a LOT of people are in the same mindset as me

I’d be careful, because 20 Series non supers apparently have a manufacturing defect that will lead to a premature death of the ram chips, I think it’s best either going RX 6700XT, RX 6750XT used, or if you’re such a Nvidia fan, you can find RTX 2070 Supers for the same ~160 dollar price or sometimes lower. Just make sure the seller has a good reputation.

I picked up a 2070S back in January for $180 (couldnt find a 6600 for under $200 no mater where i looked) & have it paired with a 5700X. Worth every penny & performs great at 1080p gaming.

i have a evega rtx 2070 and imma say it runs most games on high with good stable fps i got mine for 100$ its very worth getting it can do rtx but yk 1st gen rtx card it doesint handle it well but if u use dlss u can get 60 to maybe 80 fps max on medium settinsg with rt

I have literally just hopped onto eBay here in the UK and usually I am disheartened at the difference in price of hardware between ourselves and our friends in the US… however, I have just seen a 2070 going for £120… that is an absolute steal, I wish I had the need for a graphics card, I built my first PC just a couple of months ago with brand new parts and settled on a 7800XT… I do have two 10 year old children that might eventually want a PC… hmmmmmm

In my country a 2070 is arround 190 USD, a 5700xt is arround 160 USD, a 2060 is 130 USD. All theese prices, is if your lucky. I ended up buying a 5600xt from XFX, I flashed it with the 14 gbps bios, and I only payed 90 USD for it.

The amount of problems I've been having with my RX 7600 is insane. Driver crashes every single day, and I've tried everything to fix it. I'm not sure how I feel about AMD going forward, because I've seen a lot of people complaining about this card.

its per application useage i like both brands i'd probobly build a rig for both i like having a build or two with a variety of hardware options until the latest greatest is more easily avaialble then do a similar double build project(s) i do this instead of buying pricey vehicles cdn truck price is 50k i can build a lot of pc's as a enthusiast lol

I would have gotten the 3060. It going for around $100 on eBay and is a tad faster than the 2070 and has 12GB VRAM.

Honestly, the 1080Ti is a better pick since it's only slightly more expensive and performs around 20% to 25% Faster. And with 11GB of VRAM. It's between the 2080 and 3060Ti in performance. Or in AMD terms an RX 6700 Non-XT or 7600XT. Some models with adequate enough cooling can allow for overclocking well into 3060Ti territory, even beating it.

Just sold these to upgrade to AM5. It’s a great combo for 1440p. I even upgraded to a 6800 xt and it wasn’t bottlenecked too much by the 5600x.

A 5700X would probably be able to pull the maximum out of the 2070, and even if it's not quite getting there, it's a more reasonable pairing.

I'll admit I don"t play games like cyber punk. But I use a 2070 super as my daily and I haven't found a game I can't run on 1440 yet... I don't always get to use a high refresh rate, but I always get at least 60 fps. Games like fortnite get me 90 medium settings DX 12. It's not the greatest GPU and clearly I ain't getting 144fps any more... But this 2070 super has with stood the test of time for me.

I'm just not seeing 2070's at this price, at least not on eBay. At the prices I see them going for, I'd just for for the 3060 12GB instead. I've seen those as cheap as $185, depending on the day of the week, and that would be a much better card for having that extra VRAM. Also, the RX 6600 is about the same speed and you can find those for WAY cheaper... $140 or less, if you don't care about NVENC or ray tracing.

You’ll hardly realise the deference in performance using a gen 4 card on a gen 3 pcie slot, maybe 1.5% to 2% lost in performance not a big deal, you’ll definitely realise the huge performance difference between a 1660 super and rtx 3060ti on the same gen 3 slot even though the 3060ti is a gen 4 card the performance is wayyyy better than the 1660 super, I know because i did it

to the people that don't even look at AMD, you are missing out. I got a 6700 xt, a perfectly fine 1440p gpu, for just 250 bucks 1 year ago. It runs games like rdr2 and halo infinite at 1440p high with around 80-120 fps. Tough to beat in my opinion. I am glad i went with an amd card, back then an equally good nvidia card would have costed me 100 bucks more at least

Good card.. but stay away from the Gigabyte 2 fan 2070 "Windforce" (and 2060, same fans). The card runs hot, the fans are very cheaply made and you will have to replace them.

Most 2070 go for around $200. If you find one for $160 comsider yourself lucky. If you dont mind AMD just buy a 5700xt as you can still get them in the $150-$170 range. Or as other people have stated get yourself a used 3060/6600/6700 for a bit more. No sense in buying a 2070 unless you find one at a great price.

Nvidias always have the best highest end gpu...they always beat their amd counterpart. Yeah price sucks but they are just better...better features...and with the new 8000 series being canceled.and nvidias huge market share....it goes to show how little faith I have on amd in the LONG run..

I would buy amd if they can improve their drivers for productivity apps since I use them for my job. I buy nvidia because it has good productivity performance and it can play games(and use DLSS). There might be a chance that I might go over to amd since amd drivers are open source and better on linux, and for that i might switch over so that I can use linux fedora kde. Since amd can be used on windows and linux since drivers are open source I would love to change but if they can only optimize and improve the productivity apps with the drivers and become more stable then I will go for them. Currently using a Ryzen 5 1600 AF, 4x8GB DDR4 2666MHz cl 16 ram, Zotac RTX 3050 Twin Edge OC(I am using the studio drivers and not the game ready drivers), superflower 650w silver psu, asrock B450M Steel Legened micro atx motherboard, Muskin tempest 1TB NVME gen 3 ssd, Frostflow x 280 cpu liquad cooler and montech air 100 lite micro atx case. In like 2-3 year from now i want to get the Ryzen 7 7800X3D am5 platform upgrade with a good motherboard and 2x16GB DDR5 5600MHz ram upgrade. Later will also be getting a better GPU. I will see what will come out.
