I recognize this pattern. I made it when I was around 12 or 13. ( I'm 76 now). I never made enough squares to make a bed spread. I would loose interest before I got a big project completed. My crocheting aunt made several large projects, bed spreads, table cloths, and especially those starched table doilies that resembled tutus.

Awesome to hear of others that started so young with crochet. I also started at the age of 12. My father one day out of the blue said let’s go to the store. Bought me crochet and knitting hooks and a few colors of yarn. He showed me some of the basic stitches of knitting and crochet. He said he learned it from watching his sister while growing up. I fell in love with it then. I have taught 3 of my grand daughters so far. 1 is amazing me so. Just after the learning basics stitches, she went in full speed ahead. Thats where the internet came in. If she wants to learn a pattern of something bad enough she goes hunting and then shocks me with the results. I have 2 more grand daughters. 1 is sparking interest, so soon she we be following our footsteps. By all means take the time to pass it down to the young.

I’m stopping the video on the second round in. If it was a “chain 2” instead of a “chain 21”, it would be the beginning of my “signature pattern “. It is squares with popcorns and clusters for a bedspread. Ok going back in to see how this drama plays out. Ok edit: This did turn out to be the same pattern I’ve been doing since I was 17 in the 70’s. I ran out of money to buy thread part way through this bedspread and I turned it into a fringed poncho (1972 was high style then) Since then I have used this pattern to make all kinds of things. When the squares are put together, it makes a square lattice/ diamond design. It is very striking. You nailed it, but now my “signature pattern” is out if the bag. It’s ok, because it was old when I adopted it in the first place.

I scanned the QR code thingy and eventually got to a place on the site where I could register my email address to get access to a bunch of free downloadable fiber craft booklets and patterns. Embroidery, crochet and so on. In English! Thanks for thinking to share that. Now to watch the mystery unfold over my coffee. ETA: I was taught a long time ago by a Navajo sand painter that a "mistake" must be intentionally (or not) incorporated into each painting in order to avoid trapping spirits (beneficent or malignant) in the work. "You don't have absolute control over what might be trapped in there, so it's better not to chance it." I've adopted this idea into all my creative endeavors ever since. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

How beautiful! When you join squares together, they make diamonds! My mom kept a popcorn bedspread on her and my dad's bed that I remember from the 1960's. Who knows how old that bedspread was? Maybe from her aunt / my great aunt? Yet, it made more of a pattern of solid mesh of popcorns separated, but don't thnk it was in the round.

Your "mistakes" have taught me so much so please keep making them. I have learnt how to try and see ahead of what the end goal of the stich pattern might be and if it doesn't make sense step back and re-think what you are doing. I am still a beginner and learning that has made me improve so much more than just watching someone do the basic stiches over and over again. Got cocky enough to try and translate a vintage pattern and give it a go, didn't work well but am still working on it. Would live to see it as a mystery pattern if only to understand where i went wrong 😂

Yet again, another brilliant mystery solved despite the goober-ous pattern type-os!! You enthrall me with your patience on pattern errors. I'll frog my own mistakes endlessly, but if the pattern has big errors (ch2 vs ch21?!?) I just implode and frog it all. 😂 Re: AI, OMG yes, totally agree! I love science and history content, YT is now filled with AI-generated hogwash that's nothing more than click bait. I don't envy YT as they know if they demonetize someone who uses AI due to a speech impediment or thick accent 💩 could hit the fan. Also, how to define "creative"? My son (23) will use Blender to create digital objects that make me go 🤯 but for him it's NBD. That same son will watch me make a quick scarf using all DCs and cowers from my witchcraft. Neither of us feel we're being overly "creative". I think I'll just continue being my old Luddite self... I don't own a dog *big* enough to put in the AI fight. 😂

Made similar pat 50 yrs ago except start by making first row of pc with pc on two of the four sides. Then increase pcorns ea row same way. When you stitch them tog., each pc'd diamond shape formed has alternating pcorns instead of lining up. (Match the 5 pc side to the 4 pc side when stitching tog to form your blanket.)

Beautiful little square and a beadspread made with them would be simply gorgeous! You do such exquisite work! Wish I had it in me!!! I don't know how many projects I threw in the trash many decades ago, thinking i was just too stupid to "get" the pattern! It took years of experience before I could accept that patterns had errors! And that I was able to figure out the errors! I love that you are going to fix the pattern for us! BTW - you are so popular that KZfaq deemed you worthy of a ONE HOUR commercial for this one! Sorry, but I had to skip that one! Already looking forward to your next fun tutorial!
