If you haven't heard this yet today, I love the way you screw things up. You created an entirely different motif, and personally, I'd rather have the afghan made with your motifs. Keep going, gurl, you are fierce!

Back in the day we Brits would've called a blanket/throw a rug...not as in carpet. I'm not sure we'd have known what an Afghan was apart from a dog with long silky hair!

I had a rather heated argument with an Australian English professor she said, "rugs belonged on the bed!" I of course argued they belong on the floor.

That difference between the dialects can really get ya. It is a blanket, the reference to a rug could also mean a throw or a lap blanket. It’s the British equivalent to a small blanket for your shoulders or to cover your lap/knees.

It's so nice to watch you crochet a pattern written by someone with a brain. You were so much more relaxed, and so was I. Don't beat yourself up over the mistake, it was easy to overlook, and the result is still beautiful.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary- The earliest known use of the noun Afghan rug is in the 1870s. Afghan rug - Any of several types of hand-knotted rug, produced in different tribal nomadic and urban contexts, with repeated geometric motifs. So I guess calling a blanket an afghan is another Americanism? 😃

There are so many superfluous chain in that pattern! Plus the splitting of the stitch dropped into 2 rows before? Yikes! And the "squaring off" is very off putting. But the end result is nifty.

I think it's a "lap rug". UK terminology as opposed to US "lapghan".

You haven’t made a mistake, you’ve created your own interpretation. Do the next one the same and everyone will think it is supposed to be like that

Round 7 has some stitches that work into round 5 as well. Still very pretty! Groovy!

In round 7, the quad trebles should have gone down to the 5th round, much like round 6 down to the 4th round.

I love your end result more than the intended pattern. Both are pretty, but yours just makes me happier. 😊
