I have owned one for the past 3 months. Bought mine on a Stainless steal bracelet. I have loved it totally. Changed it straps a couple if times and it works and looks amazing. It's become my go to dress watch. And yes it is a high beat movement. It keeps great time. Good build quality and good finishing

I've using a Starking for the last 6 months or so. It came well regulated. It runs +3 seconds per day, well inside the -4/+6 COSC range. Not bad for a $50 watch.

The only problem is that it's $65 right now (still great value) but after you get a good strap , you might as well get and orient tristar, seiko 5 , or vostok

I own this exact Starking model with the addition of a metal bracelet and I gotta say it’s a very impressive watch for $50. High beat movement, sapphire crystal, and also a hacking feature is very impressive.

The value on that is amazing. I've got a Seiko which cost 7 times as much and doesn't have the date centred in the window. And I have an Omega which cost...lots...and doesn't have well-accentuated positions on the crown stem for setting date and time. So this wins one on both counts.

I have this watch for almost 1.5 years and it is still as good as new. Movement is sweet and accurate, I got mine on a bracelet and black dial. Superb watch

I have 2 of these, one with a white dial and one with a black dial. I have had them for almost a year now with no issues. It is a solid watch! Good review.

I own two versions of this watch and they keep wonderful time! Unbelievable value.

Based on this review, i got myself a black version of this watch. Well I am fairly pleased with it. It doesn't look that luxurious but it is well made and comfortable on the wrist. It is hackable and windable so I am very impressed. The crown does not wind that smoothly but I can live with that as long as it keep time well. I shall use this as my daily beater watch. Nothing annoys me as much as micro and mini scratches on the watches i love. I hope this sapphire crystal will reduce those scratches. For the price, I think it is great value.

China is amazing, every now and again a Chinese product really surprises me and makes me hopeful that overall quality of Chinese export goods is improving, but really it’s just fulfilling demand, there is a lot of global demand for extremely cheap watches so that what Chinese companies do a lot of, but there is clearly a demand for this kind of products so some Chinese companies step up and fill that gap in the market.

Just received one in the post today. Mine came with bracelet, black ‘leather’ strap and a tool to remove links from bracelet. I paid just less than £32 from Ali express. It feels good quality but as you say only time will tell. Sapphire crystal, high beat movement and unusual case shape (in profile). Very impressed so far.

I have the black dial with the solid links metal strap that even costed me less than the price you paid. It is really amazing how can they do such a watch for that price. Only the metal strap I have on mine would cost me more than the whole watch. Is more accurate than my Orient sub 200 watches, just don’t how long it will last... But it seems a very solid piece.

Did you just quick set date at almost 12 while not sure if it's AM/PM? I know it's just a 50$ watch, but it still hurt. 😵 /edit For everyone watching this, don't do this. Never use quick set date, between 9PM and 3AM, since the date switch might actually be already engaged depending on movement (usually it's just 23:00 up to 00:00, but better safe than sorry). So you will always want to set tome and move the hands until the date changes, then move time past 3 AM, set the date and then the time.

I bought one of these (black dial) for my son some months ago and its still running steadily. Not bad for an everyday beater or an occasional wearer.

I have the black dial with bracelet variant and I love it. The first one I ordered was DOA but Amazon took it back and the second one I received works perfectly. The bracelet is quite nice and has solid end links. You're lucky that your date window is lined up nicely. Mine is not and most I've seen are not. I wish the second hand was a bit longer and my date window lined up. I can definitely overlook these things for $50 though.

Yo, Jory... I bought the black version a year or so ago. Liked it very much. Wore it in my rotation for a few months. I then gave it to my friend as his first automatic watch. It doesn't resist shock well. He was wearing it every day for a month when the second hand detached from the centre of the movement. That said, it would be fine for its normal application, a slim, attractive dress watch for a good price. It impressed me so much, I bought the AM0239 in Blue on Amazon last New Year's, and have worn it in the rotation ever since. Starking is an impressive Chinese brand for the money.

This has an in-house hi-beat movement. Starking and Cadisen are some of the best bang for your buck watches available. There's some good quality watches coming out of China on AliExpress etc.

Very intresting! A suggestion: You should invest in a Timegrapher 1000. Then you can check accuracy, bph etc in a couple of minutes. It would improve your rewiews. Cost about 150 US$ at Amazon.

Jory, this is a nice watch. I have a smaller wrist and it fits fine. The cream dial matches a pile of straps. It works for the office and you don't have to baby it. Some dust inside is annoying, but you have to get close to see it. Thanks. Better prices on AliExpress

I have the black version with stainless steel bracelet, the bracelet is decent with butterfly clasp, and it does have a 28800 movement. I have hit the wall and tables with it and it has kept up well, wearing it 3-4days a week for 2 years, mine has a power reserve of about 38.5~ hours

Kind of proud of you. You are starting to see that since some years ago there are non traditional watch making places that are doing things that can give Japan (and who knows what other country in the future) a run for it's money.

As your minimum purchase point for recommendation is $100 a $50 watchband on a $50 watch would make a wonderful starting point for those on a tight budget who value the appearance of the watch on the wrist. Phillip J

If they had to cut costs to get it in that 50 dollar price range im glad it was the strap. It makes sense to cut costs on a part that's very easily replaced.

Hey Jory, thanks for looking at the Starking, I've added the AM0184 to my list of possible targets and have been looking now at the brand. I mentioned it to my wife and she bought me the AM0222 and wondered if you'd seen it? The double open-heart dual spring movement is really interesting and looks pretty cool if you like skeletonized faces. Their marketing is a hot mess, though, and I'm questioning the 'sapphire glass' claim, because if you look at the history of their Amazon listings, they claim the AM0222 for instance has two tourbillons in it, which it clearly does not. The listings on these watches also seem to consistently have a lot of inconsistencies in them, like listing the bands as having double foldover clasps when they are on a leather strap with a standard buckle. Lots of other little issues that make me wonder if it is simply a translation and sloppiness issue or if something else is going on. But the watch is hefty and I think looks really cool, so for the price I can handle if it's not quite what they're claiming for a freaking automatic movement. Love the channel, keep it up.

Everybody should have one of these, they are astonishing value for money. Bin the supplied strap and replace with a good quality one and you have a nicely designed hacking hand winding high beat sapphire crystal dress watch for £70. Can't argue with that.

I’ve had the rose gold with blue second hand version for a little over a year now. It’s on on a gray Fluco pig skin leather band with rose gold buckle. While I like the watch I wish I’d gotten the stainless steel for its versatility. I’d probably wear it a few times a week.

I have the exact watch except mine is with bracelet. I love this great watch and just today I looked at it and thought: what a great watch and it’s shame not many people know about it. And here I am, watching this video thinking what a coincidence!

Some of the Chinese Aliexpress watches have amazing specs for the money. Sapphire crystal, 316L stainless steel, sometimes a Seiko movement etc.

You should review a Heritor watch! They have some cool looking budget timepieces

I bought one of these last year. Unfortunately the minute hand got stuck occasionally, so it really couldn't hold time at all. I suspect it has loose cannon pinion, but I havent managed to open the watch from the dial side to try to fix it. Seconds were ticking super accurately though. Basically solid watch for the price, but it has some qc issues. Now I might rather go for their AM0171 model with Miyota movement. That's only $56 on Aliexpress.

Im wearing this right now and I love it. The strap is not comfortable I agree. What I noticed is the first time I set it, I started setting the correct time and then the date. That was wrong. The date didn't change. I found out that I had to set the date one day behind, then switch to time setting and rotate to correct date and the set the correct time. Now it's just perfect. I love it.

I recommend buying it from Alie Express. Mine came with a very good bracelet and the leather strap as a bonus. The bracelet is really nice with a butterfly clasp and its solid end links, which is very comfortable. It is also , with coupons less than $45 with free shipping. Granted, it does take almost 2 months to show up with Covid-19 restrictions. I absolutely love it. Your reviews very accurate.

Time teller, once corona settles down, you should travel to japan and make videos on the special watches you can find here. I currently live in Japan as a uni student and even at discount stores, they have some quite impressive japanese stuff that i think you'd like.

I bought one because of the price and it's nice! If your a guy that just wants a nice looking watch to wear to church or weddings when they pop up then this is a great watch for the person that just needs a dress watch from time to time.

Just purchased one of these, 55$ on a stainless bracelet, and worn for just a day. Have to say, very impressed. The watch just looks good. It has a good heft to it, and very much matches my wrist sizing. Bracelet is just a slight bit jingly; I am considering a leather strap, but will give the stainless a bit more time. Honestly this watch is as-advertised (so far). Lord knows if this Chinese movement will hold up, if this sapphire will hold up, etc. But for 55$ I really can't complain. Hacking, hand winding, automatic, sapphire, classic styling, high beat movement, good finishing, and your watch snob friends haven't of this brand. You could do way worse for an entry level dress watch. I'll likely still grab a Bambino one day, BUT I do recommend this Starking.

Crazy what you can get if you do your homework. Just got my Chinese Ali Express Carnival ...J.L.C Geographic 4 or 5 complications blue dial watch feel and looks amazing and looks like the JLC for 70 buck . An the movement looks fancy and it came in a nice box .🤯🤯🤯
