Given the price point there are too many other brands they are up against with a better catalogue, history and brand presence. For instance do you want to buy a £10K Bremont or a Omega Speedmaster or Seamaster and have £3K change? They are fighting for market share in a area already saturated.

You don't wear watch or other kind of strap, for safety reason that no climber didn't think about you must even remove ring when climbing. So in fact the fun fact is not the photo but the fact to use an outdoor activity where it is advice to remove his watch for safety.

I believe Davide Cerrato also ran Tudor and was responsible for the whole (or most of ) Black Bay explosion. Am I saying he's going to do that at Bremont...NO.... but he does have some cred. The only thing they can hope for is to last long enough that people will forget their old story and they find new people to buy into the outdoorsy schtick. the problem with the, lets wait out the storm method is Bill Ackman. Jimmy Chinn is a climber but is primarily a filmmaker. He is known for his films about climbing and climbers. He famously filmed Free Solo, the film about the guy who climbed El Capitan without ropes or any safety equipment. But why Bremont chose him in his advertisement, I don't really know. I'm assuming he doesn't wear a watch while climbing because a watch can get hung up or caught in equipment and that is a no go.

I hope they succeed. But was never really into their watches &, like many, thought they were way overpriced.

Too expensive. They should have started the same way as most new entrants with an introductory range, and as they built up their presence slowly increased the price to where they wanted. You can't shortcut this.

No .. they weren’t ‘overpriced’ .. they were ‘expensive’, there’s a big difference. Bremont WERE good watches. They were resilient, tough and made for the military. Bremont made their own cases, components, decorated and assembled the movements themselves. They employed technologies that no other watch had (the Martin baker Shock mount for instance) .. the reason Bremont pieces cost as much as they do is simply this …. R&D costs. Other watchmakers do far less to create their watches .. outsourcing the construction of their cases and internal parts, so their overheads are far less. Bremont tried to make British watchmaking a thing again. This was only ever going to cost a metric fuck-Tonne of money. Hence the cost. So tired of people saying ‘they’re too expensive; without thinking about what had to go into creating them. And yes .. the new pieces completely suck. As a guy who owns 5 Bremont’s (not least of which is my beloved Kingsman watch), and has reviewed them over the last few years .. I had a lot of personal investment in the company and their ideology. You were paying to support British watchmaking as much as you were paying for a watch. The Americanization of Bremont .. aiming the newer pieces at people who like any old cheap crap instead of Brits with a passion for British institutions is the biggest mistake they could have made. I shall keep my 5 pieces. I have seen the new ones up close, and they suck. Who the hell has even heard of Jimmy Chin?!? .. Never knew he existed before Bremont promoted him. Not a very good ambassador.

I fondly remember the sweet days when AC3 referred to Bremont as SHITTAAAHHHHS.

They charge tudor money for watches with little brand history or recognition outside of a small group of people. I love their designs, but they are tripping on the prices

I’m not a fan but their watches were never >10k. They’ve always been 3-6K. Their prices have not been lured that much.

Really like the Bremont watches, spendy sure, but just beautiful watches. Sad to see them go, but gotta be competitive and they aren't.

Imagine my surprise at 1:10 seeing a Bulova American Clipper ref 98C130. I've been using one as my beater for 3 years - it was the cheapest automatic watch I could find when I bought it as a new-refurbish off eBay.

Would easily pick a Sinn over a Bremont.

Jimmy is legit...even if the watch is not.

My buddy, a C-17 pilot, had the Bremont C-17 watch. It was pretty cool; the association with the plane was neat. But man, it would be tough to drop $6-$7,000 on it.

I mean, $3k to $5k for a Chinese watch with an ETA movement in it (except for the LJP they tried to pass as in-house) is still a LOT of money. I would just prefer to buy 10 San Martins. The fact that they can go from $10k to $3k overnight makes you realize how much they were stealing their 5 clients.

IMO, Bremont only makes a chance if they build a *100%* *_"Made in the UK"_* watch, including a UK-made movement. It took "Habring2" - a watchmaker from Austria - (only) about 2500 hours to turn a ETA/Valjoux 7750-movement into something of their own and this includes a self designed escapement (there is a video of them on KZfaq). The UK builds the best F1 racing cars and the best jet engines... don't tell me they can't built a decent movement. Looking back at John Harrison, they should even use a _detent escapement_ (marine chronometer) as applied by Raúl Pagès in his "RP1".

I just don’t like their designs, everything has fake vintage lume. Speedmaster & Explorer are my taste so their watches where not for me but the pricing….

You still have to do the hard yards before your brand reaches elite status, marketing led products only appeal to morons and morons don't usually have any money.

I’ve never understood the appeal of the brand. They seemed to be all about being British, which is great if you’re British, but that’s not really a huge market. The rock climber, Jimmy Chin, is a mountaineer and film maker. He’s the real deal and is the guy that made the movie Free Solo with Alex Honnold. He won an Oscar for that movie. It’s funny he didn’t wear the watch in the promo photo.

Never even heard of the brand, so poor marketing. They should have just given one to John Wick and company, a military watch that assassins love too lol, took his picture, and they would have got started with a lot of eyeballs.

Unfortunately they have lost out to Christopher Ward in uk , CW have similar watches but at a more affordable price with a better brand identity ( now) . You can buy a CW in uk for about a £1000 Bremont have been moving to £4000 plus .

Liked Bremont for its design and armed forces associations, but not the price. On my way to 2 Christopher Wards (the Bel Canto’s irresistible).
