Adobe added a few updates to the After Effects Beta that I'm VERY excited about. There's a UI theme refresh, GPU accelerated UI responsiveness on Windows, pasting keyframes across multiple layers, and pasting reversed keyframes!

AE on Mac has been like this for YEARS. Things like this is why mac users love the OS and could never go back to deal with laggy stuff on windows. Thanks god windows it's slowly updating to a decent UI experience

Wow! 4 new functions that should have been around for 10 years. Adobe is on fire!! Keep up the good work! All that's missing now are the other 496 functions we've been waiting for the last 10 years. After Effects 2074 will finally be complete. I'm already looking forward to it. Even if nobody needs it anymore. Maybe at least skynet will have fun with it.

100% - AE STILL does not even have smooth zooming for the viewer... That should have been implemented in 2007 already. I moved over to Fusion after using AE for 18 years and I just realised how behind AE is.

There's a plugin on AeScripts called Workflower - have a look into it! t's not cheap but I've found it super useful at organising my projects (and my head)

@@btn237 Depend of what kind of work you have to do. Motion graphic in a nodal program...not that good! Motion graphic is way better/easier in AE, especially with all the free and paid tools at your disposal. It's not even close!

The biggest update I’m looking forward to is the Motion Design feature inside of Unreal Engine 5.4 😂 hopefully will force Adobes hand to actually innovate

The main update which AE needs is "Arrow Headed Lines". In infographics or decorative motion shapes we commonly need that arrow. (I hope Adobe never sees this comment because if they read this they never do it. It's a company policy I think. "Never give what people want." We've written many times in years to get a "text break apart" tool for Illustrator and they've never told about it.

In the late1990s you could copy and paste keyframes across multiple layers, I used to use it to cheat on lip-sync all the time when I had to pump out 30 mins of lipsync per week for a TV show. Dunno why they ever took it away. Happy it's back.

This is crazy! Just two days ago I tried to set up the paste reverse keyframes with my Stream Deck because I need it all the time and learned it isn't possible. Great to see it's coming!

As a Mac and PC user in AE, that interface speed up is 1000% worth it. OMG, so much better than before. That reverse keyframe paste was pretty dope too. Thank you for highlighting!

I've been using Keystone for a while now for the pasting/reverse pasting of keyframes. There's still some other functions it has (like staggering and stretching) that I'll keep it for, but these two things are by far the thing I use most.

Pasting across layers is awesome and of course paste reversed keyframes is one I never knew I needed till I saw it. That is a really great feature!

FINALLY LIGHT MODE! My computer is in a very bright environment (during the day) so I really struggle to see things on screen with dark mode enabled. I've had the other CC apps in light mode and have been waiting for this in AE for YEARS!

why are they always refreshing the damn interface. they had dialed it in just perfect, i don't like the fact that all these dropdown boxes are so dark. more contrast = more eye strain

@@Zenzuke i thought so too, so freaking annoying. The current level of darkness and contrast of the UI elements feels easy on the eyes. i don't need black boxes with white writing on a lighter grey BG, it's just so much visual noise

Nice! Copy/paste keyframes across multiple layers used to work like that in AE a long time ago - they broke it many years ago, glad to see that back!

ive always dread the copy/paste keyframe - duplicate layer trouble. And its worse when you are animating multiple puppet cycle animations that doesnt want to last forever but just a couple frames and then change... im thankful for this new feature.

I’m excited about the Light mode interface again!!! Finally!!! Typically I’m working in dark mode which is my preference. But since the pandemic and working remotely, I found that I work in various locations now instead of a dark cave. And the glare I often get on my screen in brighter places made it hard if not impossible to see the interface even at the brighter settings. Having light mode will make those circumstances easier now 🎉

Pasting reversed keyframes is awesome! It's easily my most-used feature of the plugin Keystone, so it'll be nice for it to be native to Ae :)

FINALLY THIS MULTILAYER PASTE KEYFRAMES AND REVERSE KEYFRAMES IS OFFICIAL ( 24.4 )!!! Sorry about caps lock, but I'm so happy I can't hold myself. It's already assigned to "ctrl + shift + V" shortcut, as you had to manually do on Beta.

Just tried out the beta on a pretty heavy project (lots and lots of layers), but didn't see any improvement in the lagginess of the UI when dragging keyframes, etc. Oh well.

Sad to see After Effects going down after all these years. It just can't keep up with other software on the market. It's sad that people invested time and money in learning something that ignores the users and community. Yeah, doesn't matter that it's slow on high end machine, just re-color the workspace! Fantastic review Jake, I hope they continue to improve and incorporate AI in After, not just in Photoshop, that would be brutal, to have an image generator for composition with track matte and that they improve the finesse of the rotoscoping tool to such a point that it has nothing to envy of Davinci its precision, grear video, thanks!!!

As an old guy who's been using AE since version 3.1 in the late 90s I was NOT happy when Adobe removed the light interface not long after they inflicted Creative Cloud on us. I'd constantly ask to have that option returned. Eventually I got used to the dark interface even though I still have issues distinguishing scroll bars in menus from the BG.

I understand that people in the comments are really happy about these things, but honestly this is BARE MINIMUM that Adobe should have done years ago, especially considering they're charging monthly subscription fees. Nevertheless, it is a welcome change on Adobe's part, probably due to increased competition across the industry (like Rive, Fable etc). Competition is always good for the consumers.

The GPU interface part. Does that affect rendering in Redshift? Currently I can render and do stuff jn AE no problem. Maybe because I have the CUDA function turned off. In other occasions having AE open has added minutes per frame to Redshift rendering.

I don't know if you ever had this issue but, did they address the render queue lag as well? Everytime I click render queue, AE waits for ever before letting me to do anything. Every single change I make in the render queue, it waits forever as well.

I can’t use the beta version because everytime I’m having an error about " Transmit.pvr ", e-very-time I’m trying to open it. And most of the time I have white pop up that comes and I can’t close it, so I have to quit AE from Task Manager..

I think the appearance and new copy feature are nice, but they were not necessary. We could do that with some scripts like Motion 4.0 and so on. However best update is the GPU acceleration for the UI. It's very helpful to rid of those lags that happens before that.

The "paste keyframes on the same layers" function is absolutely wonderful. As for dark interfaces, I absolutely hate them. It's like sitting in a cave trying to work.
