Awesome experiment, Chris! I hope Milwaukee is watching. I'm going to get the low-profile version and do the same! 👍🏼

Clever idea. I had never heard of flat head angle grinders before. I have had a few projects where I needed to get into tight spaces with my angle grinder and could not. I will definitely be buying one and also some of the rounded contour flap disks.

Metabo also makes flat head angle grinders, even long neck variants and with variable speed. Only caveat: most of them have a power cord.

This is simply amazing Great job If Milwaukie is watching this They should promote this guy and pay for his tools. Again thank you for this video

Another way of doing it with a normal grinder is using a 9” disc on a 5” grinder, works a treat

I've done it with 4 1/2", 6", 7" and 9"ers as well, always with one eye on the safety guys, ( Crosby is the a-hole I'm talking about ). You just have to be extra careful. stay safe

Epic tool mod. Hopefully Milwaukee is listening. This was a cool idea

The only thing that your super-mega-ultra grinder is missing is X-lock. That would absolutely be the perfect grinder. But this video made me want the variable speed grinder from Milwaukee so I could do the same thing, switch heads with my flathead grinder. Dammit Milwaukee! Why couldn’t you just offer a grinder with both features! I think they only make 1 variable speed grinder too out of the 20 that they offer.

Hey, Chris, that was a really slick swap. Let's hope Milwaukee is paying attention.

Oh, that looks so good. Some people bitch that welds shouldn't be ground but I always do as I feel it creates a stress riser that can lead to a failure later.
@Brokentwobutton8 ай бұрын
Welding teachers always told me never do it, my blacksmithing teacher that has decades of experience making large work with safety and codes in mind always makes everything smooth, polished, and patinaed. If you've got proper penetration and are building something attractive instead of load or impact bearing structure, GRINDER!!

@@josheakins5137you’ve had better luck than me, I’ve only bought a 18v hammer drill, 18v drill, Fuel 18v impact driver and the angle grinder with the paddle switch and the drill failed immediately 30 seconds after it came out of the box and then the hammer drill failed after a year of moderate use. On the Torque Test channel they had an episode featuring a model of Milwaukee’s cordless, forget which now, and such a high rate of failure out of the box Milwaukee recalled them. Over here all Milwaukee cordless tools and batteries are made in China.

@ronblack78708 ай бұрын
i would probably try a 7 inch disc in my regular grinder before buying something like the milwaukee . i have been dewalt for 25 years . they used to have a factory service store in town. just take the tool there for warranty. no shipping costs. we would heavy grind large fiberglass panels with 7 inch corded and they would repair them 2 or 3 times in the first year for free. usually the bearings in the head would go. after that we would discard since the head cost half the price of a new one. grinding steel they last forever but fiberglass just eats them up. now i have all the 20v cordless dewalt stuff. too expensive to switch.
@teeanahera89496 ай бұрын
In my country all warranties are looked after by the place you bought it from. By law the consumer never has to pay return postage fee although I notice ebay ignores this, not sure how they get around flouting the consumer law.

Amazon has the 'Milwaukee 2888-20 18V Cordless 4.5"/5" Grinder w/Variable Speed (Tool Only)' which is a flat head grinder? Says it was 1st available - Date First Available December 16, 2022. Actually looks like it is less expensive than the one which is not variable speed.

They make all these cool stuff with more power than you could ask for and yet all their tools are ergonomically disasters. When I have to work with one of them I alwys be like: Ohh again? (And lets not talk about the undersized bearings in these grinders)

lol obviously they did it that way for the money. milwaukee will let it make its rounds with the consumer then BAM! they make another upgraded flathead grinder with variable speed to be sold to the consumer.
