The Author Patrick Rothfuss, famous for The Name of The Wind and The Wise Mans Fear, scammed his fans into donating money in exchange for a chapter of book 3 in the trilogy. But it's been a year, and the chapter from The Doors of Stone is still nowhere to be seen. This is also known as the charity controversy. Hopefully he'll bring us the last book in the Kingkiller Chronicles soon, or at the very least the chapter.

@@JDog_Unchained I mean each book has sold more than double the amount of books the stormlight archives has, it was the late 2000s early 2010s most successful fantasy book(s), it has probably the best prose maybe second only to Tolkien in fantasy. While they may get a little bogged down with day to day activities, the overarching plot as well as the love story between kvoth and Denna is compelling. Yea I would say that a book that can totally blot out the view of fantasy readers across the world for as many years as it did is considered a once in a lifetime book ali a song of ice and fire, Harry Potter, tolkien, wheel of time and there's more. I think its numbers speak for itself, its a technical masterpiece and still very likely to be finished considering the authors age and how long the previous books have taken.

@@iandevine3063On my second read through of king killer and just completed my second of Asoiaf and honestly, i didn't think this 8 years ago buuut George is just better in all aspects that Pat. The storylines are more compelling i think the prose is better the anxiety and anticipation for whats next are above. King killer is great and it is a once in a lifetime story but this dude is a hack as a human. George has way more reaons to not be done with his book, Pat has zero other than he doesnt have a good enough ending to live up. Hes kind of a douche honestly.

From my POV, I think there is an uncredited ghost author for the first two books and the reason it is taking so long is because that author isn't working with the face author anymore and people will notice if he doesn't take time to fine tune the book. You also have to remember this is not necessarily a professional in the sense that this was just a regular guy who published a book and it happened to be very good compared to what was being put out at the time.

@@gardeningwithhamzaandmuaz9385 you got some of that, but not enough. His name is Patrick Rothfuss. The first book is called Name of the Wind, but the series is called the Kingkiller chronicles. He is having trouble writing/finishing the third book, because well he just is… but the scam thing isn’t really about that. It’s more about him setting a monetary goal for a charity and if the backers went past it he promised to do certain things, release a chapter etc, which when they passed the goal, he at the time didn’t deliver on all the things he promised. Possibly had mental health issues and family events. That’s not it exactly either but it closer.

I don't know the whole story. From what I gather, he has been faced with some sort of personal tragedy and suffers from depression and anxiety. We may never get that last book, but that doesn't mean he is a scam artist or a bad person for failing to deliver it.
@heyheyhey33351
@heyheyhey33351 Ай бұрын
A personal tragedy? Perfectly understandable that he would delay things. But has he come out and explained that to the public? If not, then he has acted incredibly irresponsible. This is a situation involving other peoples' money. He has a responsibility to be as transparent as possible. As for depression and anxiety keeping him from writing? Again, understandable. But he shouldn't have made a promise when there was even the slightest known possibility he couldn't keep it. ESPECIALLY if other peoples' money is involved. In the end, a skeptical would say he's scamming people out of money and giving a poor excuse. And with how things can be with charity scams, would you blame them?

No, the first two were separate when written. He had the first two rough drafted before he published the first one, which is why he said that Wise Man's Fear would be out in 2009 and the third would follow shortly after. However, he'd underestimated how rough the rough drafts were, since he was still a novice writer, and when he started speaking with editors and publishers, he ended up going back and forth with them on book 2 until 2012. After that, everything he'd had drafted for book 3 didn't mesh with the final draft of book 2, and so he had to take the whole thing apart and try to figure out a way to finish the story, despite having accidentally written himself into a couple corners.
