Filipinos sense of patriotism and nationalism is unequalled. That's why most of us who are now in our 50's are trained and ready to fight for our country (Reserve Officer), this is why ROTC was integrated in our undergrad years, 4 semesters of Miltary Service (MS Courses). We are always ready to defend freedom and democracy, we will never forget the heroism of our forefathers.

Sadly Filipinos lost the patronism and love of their country. All they look out for now is to migrate to other countries and embrace other citizenship and proudly show off their foreign nationalities without ever looking back at Philippines

@@greentea9206migrating to other countries has nothing to with loosing patriotism. It’s all about seeking for greener pasture. Some acquire citizenships especially in the US. However, those who migrated to the US showed their patriotism to their newfound country by enlisting in the US Armed Forces.

My grandfather left a personal wooden chest box with black and white photos of soldiers mistly in Garand and Greese gun. One photo at the back says "Luis my friend, In Korea. I and some squadmates (with names). A keepsake of our friendship. See you home soon my friend. Yours, (An unreadable pen writing supposedly a name but it has faded)" I heard some wealthy man in our community want to open a small community museum and l want to danate those pictures since the guy in that photos used to live in our small community but decided to go and live somewhere else after he married according to some old folks alive here.

I never doubted the bravery and capability of the Filipino soldiers. It took other countries so long to defeat the ISIS but the Filipino soldiers crushed them in ust 6 months when they tried to make their presence felt in the Philippines in 2017 ("Marawi Siege").

In the memories of my late grandpa, the things and his belongings that I'd keeping and put into the crystal cabinet was gave my eyes in tears every year when I was visitingit. Because he was adopted me as a younger child. He was in BCT10 at the time of Korea war and he was luckily survived in that time. And he was past away in 1994. President Ramos was a West Point Graduate and later became President of the Philippine Republic during a critical time in our history. He died a few years ago and our country is poorer for it , he is and always will be a patriot. He was an impressive guy

Another thing to note, the PH was still recovering from WW2 as we were heavily devastated, and prior WW2 was the conflict with America itself, and prior that the Spanish. PH finally gained independence during this time and instead of taking a break, one of the first things she does is go right into the thick of it to honor a commitment to the UN to defend a nation that wasn't theirs' and did so admirably. Those men were truly the PH's best and brightest, even sent the President's only sons to a modern conflict. Who does that?

@@paulflores9909 it's not a competition m8, besides he is the son of an American president, the US has never been conquered or invaded since the 17th century they were living a relatively peaceful life meanwhile Filipino's kept getting invaded and colonised that they are still stuck with the name of king Philip for their country till this day, it ain't impressive to compare a US president sending his son to war just because pearl harbor was bombed and involving themselves in ww2 just because of that when the Brits and the French have been fighting the Axis powers since day 1 and the Americans did nothing till pearl harbor, meanwhile the Philippines was constantly under threat since their independence was only due in thanks to the Americans recognizing it after they killed a sh1t ton of natives, but somehow they still feel obliged to help another country like Korea despite suffering themselves in the hands of the Imperial Japanese regime previously and still feeling the effects of its regime heck they even helped out the Americans drive out the Japanese in the first place as if they weren't just enemies a while ago and they still feel obliged to help defend democracy and drive out the red threat, I'm sorry to say this but the Filipino's are the real heroes here m8, yall are just the ones causing the problems in fact ww2 wouldn't have happened if the treaty of Versailles which your country and a bunch of others signed that crippled Germanys economy after ww1 and when it bit yall in the a55 when a dictator rallied against the treaty during ww2 yall think yall the heroes when you started the problem in the first place dumba55 league of nations mfers

Not only in Korean War, During Dessert Storm Philippines send 59 Combat Troops to Iraq by the Request of USA and UN under the Command of Polish General, After the war the 59 Combat Troops come back home with no Casualties all of them Complete.

Fidel V Ramos the one who led the recon team of 40 men to hill Errie was then a young Lieutenant. He then became the 12th President of the Philippines.

@@jointbasepodcast I think it was a part of the first US-Phil Mutual Defense Treaty that the top 3 passers of the Philippine Military Academy entrance exam were admitted to West Point. Ramos who eventually became a Philippine president was one of the beneficiary.

My (late) uncle fought in the Battle of Yultong/Yuldong with d 10th BCT (PEFTOK) on April 1951. He narrated that it was a freezing day. The Chinese Communist army opened with relentless artillery & mortar barrage to soften-up d Filipino soldiers defensive position. He described d barrage as like "planting rice". Then came the attacks in waves of thousands of Chinese soldiers. My uncle said that he was terrified that there might be more enemies than the ammo that they had. He kept firing his rifle & he stopped only when d barrel was already very hot. Thru d bravery, fighting skills, & caring for each other, the Filipino soldiers were able to hold-on. When d 2nd day dawned, the Filipinos counter-attacked with d support of tanks. Hundreds of Chinese soldiers were killed & probably, more were wounded. For Korea, for freedom & for brotherhood, a snappy salute to these brave Filipino soldiers!

That's President Fidel Ramos, former Lieutenant during the Korean War. And also he is the founder of the Philippine National Police - Special Action Force (PNP formerly called as Philippine Constabulary - Integrated National Police) but Pres. Fidel Ramos passed away last year .

During Korean war he was 2nd lieutenant Fidel Valdez Ramos a west point graduate of 1950 and platoon leader of that reconnaissance platoon and 1962 he was captain that time and he establish the Philippine army special forces regiment airborne by 1992 he become 12th president of the Philippines

President Quirino lost so much of his family during the second world war, yet as president, he issued an executive order for the whole country to forgive the Japanese. That is why the Philippines do not have a liberation day parade unlike in the late 40's.

mostly Filipino soldiers use Garands and Carbines some Thompsons. but the Garand bearers got the most kill because of bayonets . that time these weapons rarely malfunctions because of cold weather. and the officers always remind his subordinates "one bullet-one man" this was a thrifty battle. lol!

The Filipinos were armed with the same weapons as the Americans. The deal was that the US provide the supplies and equipment. But the US never gave them Sherman armor so the motorized division got M24 Charger light tanks instead. M2 carbines and BAR's because it was organized as rifle squads.

Fidel V. Ramos was the platoon leader, not a non-com. Much like in the US, West Point graduates immediately become officers. At the time, (I don’t know if that’s still the case) the student who gets the top score in the entrance exam in our Philippine Military Academy automatically gets accepted into West Point, so that’s where he studied and trained. Note: the First Lady of the Philippines at that time was not President Quirino’s wife, but his daughter, Vicky Quirino. President Quirino’s wife and three children were killled by the Japanese in WWII. So, Luis Gonzales was married to Vicky Quirino, even though she’s the First Lady. I just thought you looked confused when he said “married to the First Lady.” 😅

Filipino soldiers under the the UN Peacekeeping Force in Syria were ordered by their UN Force Commander (Indian Army) to withdraw and not provide any aid and rescue another Peacekeeping unit that was under attacked. The Filipino Officer disregard that order and proceed to provide reinforcement to the beleaguered unit. The Indian General was relieved of duty for being incompetent.

@@paulflores9909 I thought they were order by the higher ups to surrender to Al Qaeda who have surrounded them and just like the Fijian contingent who surrendered earlier. They were not asked to reinforce but actually to surrender. Then as it was told, they refused and eventually evaded capture.

They used M1 garand rifles, BAR pr borowning automatic rifles, and Carbine Rifles. These are the firearms that were used

The firearms of the Philippine expeditionary force were mostly U.S made if not all, I don't think that the firearms of the 19th BCT are jamming because of its inferior quality but rather overheating due to the amount of enemy forces bearing down on them as they try to defend their position. What the five BCT's has accomplished there in korea where truly remarkable! 😊🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

Yeah, I agree with that. China would send their Soldiers in waves which would overheat the barrels and serve as psychological warfare on the enemy.

Lt Fidel V. Ramos. A Filipino who is a West Point graduate sent by the Philippine Military Academy ( Philippine version of USMA ). He was the platoon leader assigned to attack Hill Eerie. He became the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines then got elected as President.

That "smart dude" is Fidel V. Ramos - West Point grad, also served in Vietnam as a non-combat civil military engineer, part of a unit trained in Fort Bragg that eventually became Philippine Army Special Forces, became a Lt. General and lastly, the President of the Philippines. What an underachiever ! Lol.

The officer who led the assault on Hill Eerie is the late former PRESIDENT FIDEL VALDEZ RAMOS. He is a graduate of West Point Military Academy in the United States.

That officer is Fidel Ramos who became the president of the Philippines from 1992-1998. He is related to Ferdinand Mrcos Sr.. During the EDSA revolution, he joined the opposite camp of Corazon Aquino and abandoned Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

What made me so fond of this particular story was the fact that they are an all-volunteer battalion. The 2nd one that literally left a mark on my memory was that they're so outnumbered (regardless of how many the hostiles were) yet, decided to hold that piece of island in the sea of reds. I can't fathom how terrifying it is to get surrounded by hostile soldiers, moreover outnumbered while surrounded.

The firearms of the Filipino soldiers at that time were M1 Garand, Cal .45 Thompson Submachine gun, Cal 30 Machine gun, and M1 & M2 Carbine. Their firearms kept on jamming because of continuous firing or overheating.

Not to take anything away from the other brave Filipinos who served during the Korean War (soldiers and civilian), but I noted two prominent Filipinos in the video-the last man talking was Fidel V. Ramos who others have already noted became the 12th president of the Philippines and Benigno Aquino Jr (the Korean War correspondent) who became a Filipino politician and whose untimely death became the catalyst of the People Power revolution in the 1980s that swept away the old Marcos regime and ushered in the democratic processes in the Philippines that continues today.

the fire arms we used then is american guns like m1 garand thomson m2 carbine and Bar.. it was overheated due to over used. because lots of enemy still attacking them

The 10th &20th BCT of the PEFTOK were issued a variety of individual infantry weapons such as 30 cal M1 Garand, Springfield rifle, a few cal .45 Thompson submachineguns and called. 45 colt 1911 pistol.

Lapu lapu at that time was here in Cebu/Zugbu Visiting relative.. leader of some mercenariess assasin in a chinese Empire and we’re sailing back north with the NorthWesterly winds when he got the News of Spaniards possibly attacking. So he assemble his warriors and tribal leader.. reason why Magellan was defeated by then, such a coincident..Raajaa of the Zugbu, didn’t like Laapu Lapus reputation and affraid Lapu’s enfluence in this area/Islands thaatss why he supported Magellan’s plan ssubjecting that Northern island.

The Filipino soldiers were mainly armed with weapons that were from WWII; which were the M1 Garand, M1A1 Thompson, M1918A2 .30, and M2 Browning .50.

When Korea was a poor Nation Philippines is their Role Model Nation plus Filipinos given a big role for their FREEDOM during Korean War or War at Dutong.. so keep reminding SOUTH KOREANS and put that in their HISTORY BOOKS! so what ever they are having right now Philippines and the Filipino people has a big part of it so they should be greatful and thankful. Plus Philippines and The Filipino people never stop opening its door to all the People who needed a place when the World closed their borders THE PHILIPPINES always open DOOR who needed a HOME we've done it not once not twice but 10 Times! to different Nationalities.. We are raised as Christian Catholics embbeded to all of us to Love one another no race, no nationality, no color, no gender but one as we are all created by one GOD Philippines is a Friend to All and Enemy to No One!

Yes sir by that time the weapon they issued to them are "30 cal. M1 Aautomatic ripple. "Carbines" " thomson fully automatic ripple" 50 cal. machinegun fully automatic" " BAR" browning automatic rip ple" and the 45 cal. pistol and the 38 cal. revolver. These are all american made.
