Like most projects, finding a buyer to pay a reasonable price is harder than the build itself.

Exactly! The time taken to find buyers, upload projects to different sale sites and websites, the time spent on socials like instagram, Facebook, TikTok must be taken into consideration! All of a sudden you’ve spent around and extra 20-30 hours getting your stuff out there and you’re hourly rate goes down from £80 to £25 and it’s not so rosey then is it, still better than 9-5 but not as good as before!

This looks like a good starting place for making - I want to make one of these and try to sell it! Thanks for helping us beginners.

You could probably make this even cheaper if you buy a 2x12 board and then just make your own 2x6s, 2x4s, and 1x4s (you'd have to resaw these though unless you just substitute for 2x4s instead), the larger lumber is usually less warped too Edit: Looking at my local prices, a 2"x12"x16' is right about $30 for me, so it'd be the same cost you paid for your individual boards Buying the individual boards for me is about $29 so almost the same price, but I'd have to really hunt and pick for those good boards (most dimensional lumber down here from big box stores is trash) Looks like individual boards are the way to go if you can find them in good shape

That's a good point. For me larger lumber is more expensive, but the 2x4 is rarely usable. Warped, bow, full of knots and cracks, etc. I gave up making furniture with construction lumber. Even for outdoor furniture, it looks too bad

For me a 2x12, 16ft is $54. Canadian. And yea most the lumber is trash lol. You can go through the extra step. Loose some thickness and joint. Plane the boards. But for the style of build.. imperfection is perfection.

@@b3arwithm3 I started making my own 2x4s out of 2x12s when I need a good one, it's much more reliable and I get better 2x4s than could ever be in the store lol, difference is most 2x4s are smaller trees which is why they are so bendy and warped, but the 2x12s come from older and more stable trees, also 2x4s are puchased much faster so the stock rotates a lot, where the 2x12s will sit in the store generally longer and dry out better

@@RisingSawWoodworking it's because dimensional lumber is. made for building houses and is not properly dried, that is why it goes all over the place, you should get some furniture grade pine it won't have those issues.
