Rocket league needs to implement an offline mode where you have the option to play against a bot of varying skill levels. Imagine being able to practice against a bot that is just slightly better than you no matter how good you get. It would be just bad enough to give competition, and just good enough to help you improve. It would be great

They need to add more skilled bots. They have this in practice with rookie-all star bots. But you can quickly outgrow them

@@rodrigoa1990 I don't think you're wrong. The only reason Nexto is not a ssl bot is that it's unable to purposely steal boost or go for demos and it can't defend aerial plays. Other than that its flicks are undefendable.

yeah, same. i think Leth is a really good content creator because he’s both amazing at the game and he has a good personality for content. i feel like most other creators, even while they are better than me, aren’t able to fully analyze all aspects of the game.

Nice job, I love these bot games. I wish there were more of these. I played "Necto", the first version of Nexto several games. After several games its kickoffs changed dramatically and I was able to beat it quite a lot. It slowed down, would make mistakes and miss shots. It was only when I restarted it did it start to play normally. So I would keep an eye out for this kind of thing.

Necto/Nexto bug when not running on 120fps. If you weren't running on 120fps that could cause this kind of behavior.

what i think has some weight in the bot's play style is that there may be a little too much emphasis on the car's distance from the ball being what the bot looks for in the lack of a goal, so it might be that the dribbles are the most rewarding for that and that makes it not focus enough on learning other parts of the game

idk i understand that the progression seer has made is incredible but i also cant shake the feeling that you were going easy on it. Compared to when you're grinding ranked 1s, this felt more like how you play on a custom map with the other guys. It might just feel that way because you tried to not to take advantage of its weaknesses i guess

@@timojetit's hard but once you know how bots behave you will quickly notice it's one. Met a few nexto bots in ranked the last weeks and could easily tell after a few seconds

As someone who came from the Super Smash Bros Melee scene when 20XX bots first came out, I can tell you that bots that you can 1v1 on demand like this are insanely valuable for training. If we take advantage of them, the entire scene will get so much better & consistent.

Top 3 favorite kinda vids from you has gotta be the Egyptian parkour map when it's you vs so many hunters, air dribble maps where you challenge friends, and then when you do something to troll your friends lol. Also video idea.......you vs however many hunters BUT you can't use the first checkpoint teleporter until you collect 10 onks and the second checkpoint with 20, and so on so forth. Also have you thought of making another map like the Egyptian parkour map but did a different one? Maybe medieval? Idk, just thinking lol

These bots are super interesting. I made one using the tool by the people who made nexto. The bot learns by playing and gets reward when it performs actions. Such as touching the ball or scoring goals. It is like dopamine in the brain. As it plays it does random things like moving the wheels, or driving forward and when it finds actions that produce rewards, it is designed to get the highest output of rewards. So the more it learns, the more it gets reward. The person who made Seer and the people that made Nexto are on another level. The group that made Nexto made a human trainer program where an individual controls the bot, and the bot learns from the human actions. They never got the program working and I feel like I was super close to finishing it, but it never worked. I feel like if you, Leth, could train a bot, it would blow all other bots out of the water.

what's really impressive is that this isn't the up to date version. There is a seerv6 that beat ssl players and if I remember correctly pros (in 2s but seer lost against them in 3s). But it was really good just all around making very few mistakes with aerial play.

i think leth mentioned in the video that seerv4 was exclusively trained in 1v1 and it beats seerv6 in the game mode

That is true. But seerv6 looks better. seerv4 has the ones positioning, so it wins in bot match, but seerv6 looks better overall especially on the wall.

10:10 just a note, while they may not be actively learning from the match, depending on the network, they may have the ability to remember previous actions that they and their opponent have done in order to optimize strategy

Depends on the algorithm. Don't think either Nexto or Seer do this.

I know for sure Nexto is an LSTM, meaning it has long-term memory, but LSTMs have problems with long-term memory degradation. If seer is a transformer net, it should have much better long-term memory, but I don't know seer's architecture

These bots learn by playing against themselves right? This is a small thought experiment, if you had to play against it, but before the match, you could either watch a replay of the bot playing against itself(so you can see what it’s used to defending against, and you can also see how they defend against one another) or play one warmup game yourself against the bot (you wouldn’t know how to defend against it, or what you can do to score on it, but of course you have first hand experience playing it) which do you think would give you more of an advantage in the final match against the bot?

Hey leth I got a idea, rocket leauge but everything causes damage to the car. Hitting the ball jumping etc 100% health bar and demo when 0. Or your boost is your health and the lower you go the worse your car performs untill your stuck on the field and can’t get to a boost to refill

The kickoff he's doing reminds me a certain AI learning video about Pokemon. Essentially, the AI learned a certain button combo to always catch it's first encounter with it's first pokeball (RNG manipulation). This delayed kickoff looks like the AIs adaption to reading how you're going to hit the ball and speeds that are only possible by AI and then attempting to counter them to simply score via kickoff every time.

Bro I always had huge respect for Leth in terms of skill but he just earned a whole new level of respect. Correct me anyone if Im wrong, but so far nobody defeated Seer in 1v1 right? Even pros said that its nuts...And leth just yolos him first try. Thats crazy. Truly a jack of all trades in rocket league! Content creator, map maker, custom map master, all gamemodes SSL, pro player AND bot challenger. Leth youre a beast. Keep it up!

I think that Seer has this delay kickoff to react on how the ball will go after the hit of the player. Normal people could not react to the trajectory of the ball as well as the bot can do.

Yes I've been waiting to see how you'd hold up against this bot. I think for V6 if you did a 2v2 with rapid or coconut (maybe do a 2v2 with each and then finish with a 3v3 might be interesting) I'll be truely terrified the day a bot is made that can beat you. you may not claim to be the best but of all SSL's I've seen (mainly youtube because in game I'm only C1) You definitely appear to be consistently top 50

RocketSledge has a video on it (not sure on the version he used in his video) but he did a 2v2 with seer and pros and the pros won by a goal in ot. In the 3v3 it was no match because the pros could just easily pass around for a clear shot

Is there a chance you could include this bot as NPC in custom adventure maps? There could be demos and ball steals during a parkour map that would be tons of fun trying to keep possession while doing your run as bots attack you with all they got.

Probably the reason for this bot is weak on the wall plays, it is the fact that in the training process (while bot is training with itself) the wall plays are thought as unimportant compared to ground plays. This causes the bot to converge on a play style with mostly ground games and perfecting itself around this area. In the reinforcement training processes, fundamentally you can have two adjustable characteristics: exploitation and exploration. Exploitation is the ability to use the existing knowledge in the model while exploration is the ability to look for undiscovered aspects of the game. In this bot, probably the exploration factor should be increased but this means longer training process to get the expertise on different aspects of the game. It is very similar to human learning actually. For example, you can be an expert at simple striking in very short time and exploit this ability to beat the opponent. But, striking ability is not enough to be a good player, you need to improve on other aspects, like wall plays.

I know nothing about how to play rocket league, but it's interesting to see that seems to make human mistakes where it seems like it could perfectly predict the state of the game. A bot without machine learning could for example be able to know perfectly if a (untouched) ball trajectory would end up into the goal or not (just by using kinematics alone).
