Just an interesting note, anomaly, aberration, etc. Aprox 15 years ago. I built a cover table for my mother she was put on home oxygen and she wanted something to cover the concentrator. I used standard wp shelving. It was cheap and available. No complicated jointery. I built panels and a top with straight butt glue joints. And a 2x2 frame with front and back open to dissipate heat from the concentrator. Strong enough to hold an elephant. 😂 and shes passed now but i have that cover table and am using it as a computer desk. The measurements are @ 30" H x 24" L x 18" D. Like I said, an anomaly or whatever. Ive never had to repair it. No splits, checking, or cracking. I live in a high humidity area. I really thought as time went on that it would move on me snd I'd be repairing it.. But its held together like a champ. Im pretty amazed that it has done so. Wood is so interesting in this area where expansion is an issue. Ive seen similar projects fall apart.

Sealing the wood on all six sides (even when finished) also minimizes the amount of moisture the wood can absorb, helping to minimize expansion/contraction. Thanks for posting this (nice box!).

One of the biggest issues with any wood (mostly pine) from a box store is the moisture content. I have used pine in a lot of box and cabinet builds, but just make sure it is dry.
